Yea i heard on newspapers that it's actually quite good solding in America from one small country used to be big and strong country back during the life long president Tito.
Yes sir ! Too bad everybody loves this rifle here and prices are going really high right now . I already own 3 vintage yugo firearms but the newer Serbian ones are difficult to find now
I was conscript back in 2004 is Serbian army and they told us that the reason why our M70 doesn't have chromed barrel is that without it the barrel is made of some high durable heat resistant stuff and and can't be chromed and can take much more firing before it bends and brakes from the heat (i think he said it 2000-3000 bullets before it bends) , that was probably BS but i'm telling you what they fed us :) . Pain in the ass to clean after shooting
I am from Serbia and i tell you zastava it producted a 70.000.000 ak guns so far....there is a new rifle zastava M21 and new modular rifel i a two cal 7,62 and 6.5 grendel....so yes we realy care what we do....
ARs are better. But, an AK is definitely worth owning. A bottle of motor oil, a metal file, and a hammer, will keep that gun running your entire life, and they shoot much better than most AR guys give them credit for, pretty much 2.5-4 MOA out the box depending on the AK you get. A standard FAL usually does 2-3 MOA. That aint much better, and the recoil isnt much worse than an out of the box factory 5.56 AR, now a really nice AR that has a nice muzzle brake, and a heavy spring/buffer will obviously out shoot the fuck out of an AK, but still worth owning. Very reliable and not picky at all about ammo so getting that Russian shit that's as cheap as 9mm fmj is perfectly fine
Just finding one is a struggle now for almost anything. If you don't have guns or ammunition yet you gotta fork over that cash. Still worth it as guns don't really lose value.
Yep James,, I bought my PAP M85 5.56/223 with the arm brace from Bud's, I think, for around $660.00 and NO Sales Tax with free shipping a few years back. I don't think they make the M85 anymore. It's literally a blast to shoot at the range.
I've had my Zastava PAP-M92 for a few years now and it's been amazing... and it didn't suffer the Century import issues due to being a pistol so no 922r stuff. Runs awesome and I love it.
I got mine for $900 and the Arc Angel is $1,000 and yet I'm happy lol they're selling them at Sportsman's Warehouse even right now I'm the pandemic with all the civil unrest. Just happy to get my hands on one
That's actually cheaper than if you try to buy it in Serbia. Regular M70 (old one whatever PAP designation it is) was around 700 eur here. Glad to see Zastava doing good job.
@gillan64 I didn't say it was made in slovenija(in know where the zastava factor is) and the gun was produced in 1990 when did slovenijan army purchased them i don't know. They were and still are in service but now only in the reserve forces. Funny how most countries wanted too leave yugoslavia and we were the terrorists.
@gillan64 every Yugoslav republic had a parallel military force of reservists called territorial defence, so territorial defence warehouses were full of Yugoslav military equipment... that's how they got Yugoslav ak-47s.
I agree but the furniture is an easy 3 out of the 5 US made parts needed for 922R while still having all the important bits being true Serbian. You can always add genuine furniture after purchase. 922R only really applies to manufacturers/dealers

James according to my research, you are not allowed to like both ARs and AKs on the internet and you must engage in ceaseless arguments about reliability, accuracy, and stopping power. Pick a side or get caught in the crossfire of 7.62x39 and 5.56x45.
The later model NPAP that were being imported was actually really good and all the problems had been worked out at that point. They were using the tapco g2 double hook trigger with a double stacked bolt carrier. The mag wells were cut out correctly. The rest of the gun was built in house by zastava. You make it seem as if century built the guns. Century only added a trigger group cut the mag well added furniture and a muzzle device. everything else was built by the same tooling equipment that the zpap is made with in zastava factory.

@Kenny Kidd literally just got off the phone and got one for 1400 cause classic firearms sold out while I was on hold.. annoying. Ah well. Getting one now before uncle touchy and co. make it impossible. Small price to pay I suppose.

I've always heard good things about the yugo/Serb aks, some of the best new, traditional style aks you can get along with Bulgarian and polish made rifles. Going back to the image of the pistols on the wall of their shot show booth, I wish they would build an cz999 chambered in 7.62x25. Like a cz30 or ez762, I would guarentee they would sell like crazy.

f308gtb1977 yeah they are super light but I like them like that. That’s cool you were able to mod yours to your liking. The resets on them are great as well. For the price there’s nothing better.
I love my Arsenal AND I just got my PSA AK-P7 and put a few hundred rounds through it. The PSA, regardless of their issues in the beginning, is a gorgeous little pistol and the initial quality is excellent. There, I said it and now I expect everyone to get angry at me for liking my PSA AK.
I love Zastava rifles. Would love a original M70A with the bolt lock back. The original ones had extra bits in the receiver that worked with the magazine when empty hit a catch and when you loaded a new magazine you pulled the charging handle to release the bolt. Zastava also made the Yugo aka Zastava Koral. Zastava also mean Flag/Banner.
Nice review. :) Seems rather detailed and objective. In the (Serbian) army we shot the M70AB2 version - which was about 30 years old at the time. Yes - the army is very pedantic about cleaning and lubricating your gun, but still - 30 years of use in training didn't get those barrels worn past the point of still being quite accurate up to 300 m (prone). Sure - chrome would have helped cleaning a lot. However, as it is - it does work rather well and last for quite some time.
Just picked up my upgraded, chrome lined Zastava. First AK I have ever owned. Love this weapon! Own quite a few weapons... Styer, Ruger,CZ,Fostech. This is my new go-to rifle. It kicks ass😺
James is becoming one of my most fav and trusted reviewers. His honesty, snobbishness, and well..... his beauty do not offend me. I think this ak is worth the 800 but I want to hold and shoot one first.
M70ab1 I was issued with during my 3 months of basic training had 80% worn barrel according to the annual inspection and i would still hit all 30 rounds into a 1m circular target at 250 meters. As recruits, we used to spend all free time cleaning and oiling the damn things. From my first weekend leave I brought back silicone lubricant spray, usually used for locks etc. and dowsed the AK in it about once a week. Water repellant, nice and shiny. Worth mentioning, we shot A LOT, like every couple days out to gun range to waste a combat pack, 120 rounds
March 2022, zastava’s now come with chrome lined barrels, 3 options in the wood furniture with a smaller comb on the butt stock, can also still get the poly furniture. However as with most things prices have gone up and I paid just under $1000 for one just the other day. Still my favorite import AK on the market right now. Awesome video, great review. Thanks
I have the all wooden furniture m70 and its honestly a very solid and consistent rifle but I must say the trigger retention spring (I believe its called in English) got disconnected while I was loosing the safety lever... it was a simple fix just taking a flat tool with a long blade then you simply lift the spring back on traction or alternatively you remove the trigger group and you bend it with bare hands once this small issue was resolved I was able to out of the box hit 8/10 with no adjusting for zero from roughly 55 yards equivalent! This may not be much to some but to someone from a country that hardly has rifles let alone solid yugo ak’s I am very pleased that this rifle is just as clean and efficient in the States!
I own 3 "pre-bans", all Mitchell Arms. An RPK in 7.62 x 39, an M-77 in 7.62 x 51 and an M-70 underfolder in 7.62x39. Teak wood furniture and the BEST AK's ever made by anyone. Bought a "post ban" Century Arms NPAP in 7.62 x 39, great as well.
I served JNA long time ago and I was a sharpshooter. I was also a Yugo champion in small bore rifle shooting when I was 16 years old. I’m US citizen now and shoot AR15 on occasion
Zastava USA just introduced an "improved" M70 that's pretty much the old OPAP with a chrome lined barrel. 1.5mm receiver and bulged trunnion of course. My brother was set to order a standard Z-PAP, but Classic Firearms was sold out of the standard M70. They did have half a dozen of the new improved model with OD green polymer furniture for a slight markup in comparison to the regular model. He and I both were unaware of the reintroduced OPAP prior to this, and he jumped at it. Under a grand to get into a nice import is getting rarer by the week, and I already spent my gun money on a Beretta 21A and an Armscor M5 when this pandemic shit started. I got a WASR10 back when they were still $599, but I'm super jealous of my brother right now.

I was going to buy a VSKA from Century but seeing the price difference with the quality of the guns, Zastava was definitely worth the extra $300
Every house in America has to have a rifle like this
Ok Sir, I just got one today!
@Ryan and eventually f22 raptor if you are afraid of flying then m1a2 abrams will do the job too lmao
Yea i heard on newspapers that it's actually quite good solding in America from one small country used to be big and strong country back during the life long president Tito.
@Ryan 10k rounds how fuckin rich do u think we are lol
Yes sir ! Too bad everybody loves this rifle here and prices are going really high right now . I already own 3 vintage yugo firearms but the newer Serbian ones are difficult to find now
James if you were a doctor I would order Z-PAP from you.
That price is actually very low for quality and customer support you get from Zastava USA...
and the prices had risen up in the last 5 months so this is a much better deal now
I love my Zastava AK... Cant stress how great they are
I was conscript back in 2004 is Serbian army and they told us that the reason why our M70 doesn't have chromed barrel is that without it the barrel is made of some high durable heat resistant stuff and and can't be chromed and can take much more firing before it bends and brakes from the heat (i think he said it 2000-3000 bullets before it bends) , that was probably BS but i'm telling you what they fed us :) . Pain in the ass to clean after shooting
TFB TV is awesome but James is the main reason I have watched almost every video you have released
I am from Serbia and i tell you zastava it producted a 70.000.000 ak guns so far....there is a new rifle zastava M21 and new modular rifel i a two cal 7,62 and 6.5 grendel....so yes we realy care what we do....
I’m Not an AK Guy, But that’s one Fine Looking Firearm !!!
Actually, makes me want to Own One ?
Fact.
Just get one
THE ISSUE IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN: WHICH ONE ??
ESPECIALLY HERE IN THE USA !!
ALSO MONEY ???

I didn't say it was made in slovenija but that it was used by slovenijan army so sad what zastava is doing today is nothing compared to the old days

I didn't say it was made in slovenija(in know where the zastava factor is) and the gun was produced in 1990 when did slovenijan army purchased them i don't know.

My Century imported M70 NPAP is stamped Zastava in Serbia

Zastava also made the Yugo aka Zastava Koral. Zastava also mean Flag/Banner.
Nice review. :) Seems rather detailed and objective.
In the (Serbian) army we shot the M70AB2 version - which was about 30 years old at the time. Yes - the army is very pedantic about cleaning and lubricating your gun, but still - 30 years of use in training didn't get those barrels worn past the point of still being quite accurate up to 300 m (prone). Sure - chrome would have helped cleaning a lot. However, as it is - it does work rather well and last for quite some time.
These are now shipping with chrome lined barrels, 1.5mm receivers and bulged trunion. Just ordered one. :)
Very true. Thanks for posting.

James is becoming one of my most fav and trusted reviewers. His honesty, snobbishness, and well..... his beauty do not offend me. I think this ak is worth the 800 but I want to hold and shoot one first.
I have had my npap for 7years not a single issue with it
M70ab1 I was issued with during my 3 months of basic training had 80% worn barrel according to the annual inspection and i would still hit all 30 rounds into a 1m circular target at 250 meters.
One year later since the $799.00 price tag….ZPAP’s selling at $1,300.00 PLUS and still wiping the floor with the competition

Review their Tokarevs. I got a chrome M57A and it's a sweet piece.

They did have half a dozen of the new improved model with OD green polymer furniture for a slight markup in comparison to the regular model. He and I both were unaware of the reintroduced OPAP prior to this, and he jumped at it.
