- The Navies of India and China have received their new aircraft carriers in recent weeks. Beijing on June 17 launched its newest and most advanced aircraft carrier 'Fujian'. The 80,000 tonnes warship is equipped with an electromagnetic aircraft launch system. Only U.S's nuclear-powered Gerald Ford aircraft carrier is equipped with such advanced technology. However, Fujian is a conventional warship and experts warn that China may not be able to fully use the potential of EMALS technology. Lmao listen I ain’t Indian nor Chinese but for those of you genuinely interested in naval technology, this video is borderline Indian propaganda. Vikrant still uses STOBAR (Ski-Jump) technology while Fujian uses CATOBAR (meaning that generally, Vikrant’s aircraft won’t be able to carry as heavy a load because of the lack of a catapult), not to mention the fact that the Fujian displaces much more than Vikrant, meaning it has more room for its air wing as well as supplies, fuel, etc. There is simply no comparing a 45000 tonne STOBAR carrier with an 85000 tonne CATOBAR carrier. You can’t simply claim that Vikrant is better because of its supposedly tried and true ski jump. Otherwise, wouldn’t the US Navy still be using STOBAR carriers?

Compare Fujian to Vikrant as your video says, dude! Not the Ford carrier! EMALS is not 1 step ahead of ski jump. It's 2 gens ahead, leapfrogging the steam catapults which is 1 gen away. Its better to have ski jump than Catapult. EMALS is still a new power hungry technology which negates the catapult drawbacks. Both Catapult & EMALS r same pattern of launching Jets. Just the difference is in capacity of launching quantity & speed.

When China built the 001 and 002 carriers, people laughed because they were STOBAR carriers to gloss over the fact that China managed to build both from zero experience and made them operational in a short span of time (001 rebuilding from Varyag hulk began June 2005 & commissioned Sept 2012; 002 construction began Nov 2013 & commissioned 2019). China didn't kick a fuss, she kept building quietly and launched the supercarrier-class 003 while India beat her drums loudly when she launched.... a STOBAR carrier (Vikrant construction began Feb 2009 & commissioned Sept 2022 = 13 bloody years!), claiming that it outshines everything China has! Lololol...

The fact is that the Fujian has more advantages compared with Vikrant, on paper at least, because we don't know all the maximum capabilities of these two aircraft carriers. What we all know are details that both Beijing and New Delhi want us to know.
Another thing is that China has a way more developed shipbuilding capabilities than India, but India continues to further develop its shipbuilding capabilities. I prefer to be fair, taking all facts from both sides, Vikrant is surely a well-capable aircraft carrier, but for now, I consider Fujian to be more advanced because its design is a generation ahead of Vikrant.

I wouldn't consider a typical hypersonic missile to be any more difficult to locate than a su57 going off Russia's allocation of resources.

In terms of aircraft carrier India has an unsinkable one in the Bay of Bengal in the form of the islands of Andaman and Nicobar and the huge landmass of the peninsular India from where destructive guided anti-ships/submarines missiles can be used. Stobar system still lags behind the Catapult. India is having a hard time finding jets for the navy and Stobar is the very reason why. A good catapult system has the ability to launch an aircraft with huge payload including extra fuel on jets for long flight. Stobar is honestly a bad choice.

Between steam and electric catapult technology wouldn't it just be better to proceed with the cheaper of the two despite its drawbacks so you can be more experienced when you get EMALS?
@@timmyhoward6638 - sure I've heard about EMALS experiencing various problems. But it too will mature over time (it's not like steam can mature any further, it is what it is). EMALS may be immature right now, but electromechanical is naturally more reliable than than hydraulics including steam. Look at the automotive industry - they're always shifting more in that direction. Warfighting should too.

The Vikrant is the strongest aircraft carrier in the world. After 20 years of construction, it was launched five times and returned to the dock for improvement. The domestic production rate is as high as 70%.
As long as the pilots are experienced, we in India do not need fifth-generation fighter jets, as long as training pilots plus Tejas fighter jets is enough, f22, j20 are expensive industrial waste.

Fujian has a completely flat deck and three catapults, reflecting China's effort to adopt the catapult-assisted takeoff but arrested recovery (CATOBAR) system used on US aircraft carriers. The fujian runs a different technology compared to the American gerald Ford. Fujian uses MVDC and Ford class uses MVAC, in terms of energy storage, fujian uses supercapacitors to store the electricity to be released quickly for the CATAPULTS. While the Ford class uses spinningfly wheels to store the energy, and convert it back to electric energy through a cycloconverter.

A major drawback of INS Vikrant is the dimension of its puny lift which lifts aircrafts from the lower deck to the take-off deck. Its dimension of 10m X 14m can accommodate only MIG 29 or at the most F/A -18 F Super Hornet till we develop our indigenous TEDBF program. Because of the shortsightedness of our admirals and planners, Navy is left with two fighter jets that it doesn't want to operate from the Vikrant, MIG 29 which has several issues with its air frames & LCA-Navy MK1 which will be limited to providing training to new aviators

You should learn more about warship power plants ... The US super-carriers are also powered by steam boilers, albeit their boilers are heated by nuclear power plant. Gas turbines have certain advantages, but boilers also have their advantages, for example, enabling a longer operation range and a higher max speed, both of which are critical for airplane carriers.
