Excellent video! One note: I think it's possible that the concept artist wasn't necessarily wrong, but rather that the Oswald Blot was just an earlier variation of the Storm Blot that they didn't end up going with. I wouldn't be surprised if to the people who worked on the game, the Oswald Blot isn't even seen as a separate character deserving of its own name, but rather an earlier concept for the Storm Blot itself.

I've called the Storm Blot the King Blot for years, I don't know why. Might have been from some Concept Art or perhaps one of the themes on TH-cam. But now I see he's the Storm Blot, makes sense since he's a sentient storm in a sense.
But what I want to know is...In the Paint path where you redeem the Shadow Plot...Where does he go?

Also, if you go to the train tunnels in Epic mickey 2, destroy the blot diorama using fireworks and then take a picture of it, Gus will refer to it as "the storm blot"

In German Translation it's like this:
The Shadow Blot is "Schatten-Phantom" means "Shadow-Phantom"
and the Storm Blot is "Phantom"
We never heard the term "Sturm-Phantom / Storm Blot" anywhere in both Epic Mickey 1 or 2

I remember being told the Oswald blot was the Storm blot then hearing Abe’s line about the Storm blot. I thought that Oswald being able to fuse with the blot was something that could canonically happen, but didn’t because it was scrapped, but they hinted that there was still a possibility. I could believe the cutscene where the Storm Blot absorbs Oswald (and you find him inside it later) was going to be a setup for them fusing, but that never happens.

Really great explanation Fungus!!! Only thing I wanna say is before Oswald unleashes the Storm Blot, he calls the Blot “the Real Blot”. Not exactly sure what it could mean but I guess maybe it’s another name that came be used?

Nah, the 2017 Ducktales Blot sucks compared to his comic counterpart. He's actually still heavily used in the Italian comics, and is honestly THE best Mickey Mouse villain.

i will admit when i was younger (14 and younger) i was a part of the problem believing and perpetuating the Oswald Blot = Storm Blot until i got corrected, but in my defense i entirely blame the Electric Dragon youtuber guy (wears an orange hat) he made a bunch of Epic Mickey videos back in the day and i took them all as gospel

that was the Mad Doctor in his black cloak seen in the original cartoon. it was changed because people got him confused with the Phantom Blot

Actually, in the original concept/story drafts,that the “real” blot would merge with and corrupt Oswald, hence the “oswald-ly” monstrosity, the storm blot we have now is more of a final product.

i think calling "Storm Blot" to Osblot is more like a placeholder name, due to the many versions of the final boss.
