      Aethyrvorous NWU looked cool it made the Navy look unique. Idk of they wore it on board ships but falling into the ocean wearing a blue camo doesn’t sound fun.

    To me these video's would be even more interesting if you gave some kind of commentary before, during or after the effectiveness test about how you like the pattern, your experience with it, the way it works, maybe some history...
    I just like hearing people share their thoughts on patterns so I might look at it another way. Things I wouldn't have come up with myself.

    The NWU3 what is displayed here is desighned with and for navy special warfare but issued for all personel( Like how the army's acu is desighned for field use but issued to everyone) the AOR series of patterns AOR1 AOR2 and AOR universal were desighned for and tested for the army as one of the ucp replacement patterns, it didn't win the trial but the camo was used for the nwu also intended for naval special forces, they liked the patterns, recap naval special forces uniform printed in army camo.

      Actually it is better. Even in transitional (which is multicams best environment) aor2 beat it in objective testing done by guy cramer. So honestly why would you ever use multicam over aor2? Multicam might have a slight edge in desert it it still is far too dark anyway, with just about any desert camo beating it.

      MARPAT has too much brown for a lush jungle setting. It works better in the early fall.

  • @ProbablyTooLoud
    @ProbablyTooLoud 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another outstanding effort !
    It looks like Mil Cam Pattern designers are finally seeing how vertical and slanted light in woodland environments is a real thing. Very effective and it seems to equally grab both the shadow and the light which allows the human figure to break up.
    In some ways, it's like turning original Tiger Stripe vertical and it becomes something totally different and effective.
    A side note about Vietnam Era Tiger Stripe is a special olive green dye that was used. I was told it was localized but if you research patterns and colors from this time and region, you might find the most perfect color of O.D. Green ever produced.
    I know that's a big statement but It did exist and was probably organic from locally blended materials. Modern synthetic chemical dyes pale in comparison.

    • @smesaric
      @smesaric 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, objective tests were done at west point, and they determined a horizontal pattern performed 5-50% better than a vertical one. The only reason aor2 is vertical is because the marines got fussy because they didn't want people confusing marpat and aor2 so the navy rotated it.

    Thanks for the video Brent, I was eyeing this pattern for a long time. Could you please make a video on one camo pattern within one season but under different light conditions (bright sun, sunset/sunrise, rain, night, etc) ? I would love to see how these affect camo effectivness.

    Damn! That's some good stuff. This was an either I see you or I die pattern. And I'm gonna be honest It was mostly die because I was never even close to where you were, except for the few scenarios where I picked you up like a policed cigarette butt.
    I hope you have plans to do this in cooler weather say Dec-Feb when all the green stuff isn't so green.

    As Much as I love MARPAT I kinda prefer AOR II. It looks much more effective. Now AOR1 vs Desert MARPAT is gonna be interesting. But definitely can see why SEALs love this camo.

    The camo is good but the materials/how it was made suck. Ive been in the fleet for over a year now and all three of my trousers have massive holes in the knees, random tears, and ripped up stitching. i think that the material was made too thin. the blouses are fine but i am going to be forced to replace all of my trousers.

    I feel like AOR2 is kinda overlooked now, but from videos I've seen on this channel, it seems to be the most effective woodland camo out there right now. I know its a mil-issued camo but I really wish there were more gear available in this pattern. It does go pretty well with Multicam Tropic if anyone's thinking of mixing camo.

    • @itsagrayday
      @itsagrayday ปีที่แล้ว

      its very expensive for some reason.

    • @mil-duck
      @mil-duck ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsagrayday Besides uniforms, which are cheap and readily available because they’re standard Navy-issued, AOR2 pattern gear are expensive because only a limited quantity was produced exclusively for NSW. They’re no longer produced now because NSW switched over to multicam years ago and rest of the Navy uses coyote brown and black colored gear. It’s unfortunately a dying pattern.

      @@mil-duck Are the navy running aor2 with coyote brown plate carriers like the USMC does with it's MCCUUs? I can't seem to find many pics where the wearer is wearing this setup or I'm just looking in the wrong places.

      @@Jeragon186 Navy expeditionary units (Seabees, coastal riverines, etc) use AOR2 uniforms with Coyote Brown PPEs. NSW (SEALs, SWCCs) used to use AOR1/2 PPEs but fully switched over to Multicam.
