Lennon actually said, "give me a tuba and I'll get you something out of it." But Frank was an Irish gangster, so he heard it as "give me a tuber, and I'll get you something out of it."
I always thought one flaw in this otherwise pretty solid movie was Frank’s girlfriend, we see her in this scene, they should’ve made it to where it’s the same girl we see in the beginning of the film when Colin is a kid, she’s working at her fathers store behind the counter, it would’ve been great to show how he corrupts his community even someone as benign as a teenage girl helping her dad at his store. Everything he touches turns to rot.

The film is about how much of a gangster and big-time and brutal Whitey Bulger was in the eighties and nineties most feared man in Boston at that time was Whitey Bulger
He was unstoppable.. With the federal government supporting his organization buissness and activities..he was one of the biggest names and faces in organized crime in the city 🏙️ of Boston in the 1990s.
1:01 Do you know John Lennon? ( Billy ) Yeah he was president before Lincoln. I don't know why Costello asked Billy that, Because the president before Lincoln was James Buchanan. Unless Costello was taking the piss with Billy, And if you were asked that question your answer would be Yeah he was a Beatle ,So can anyone tell me why Billy said he was a former U.S President? Or were they both being sarcastic?
Costello was asking because Costigan was not of the Beatles generation, though I thought high school for 20 years and all the kids know who the Beatles were. I think the Billy character caught the balance between being respectful and standing up to the Costello character in enough of a way that kept some respect there on costello’s part.
I dont think Billy was being sarcastic. If he was then the scene is no longer funny, the entire strength of the scene lies in Costello not reacting to Billy being totally wrong and not even giving enough of a shit to correct him. No way Billy was being sarcastic IMO, makes the whole scene boring
