It's sad to know that those black people were treated so badly. But I've heard of situations where some Ukrainians were helping the jamaican students, from places to stay after leaving Ukraine, as well as giving them hot soup on their cold journey. So no matter how angry we get, we must remember that even though there are racist people out there, still there are a lot of good people out there. When we face racism, it's not a nice thing to deal with, but we have to dig deep and not to put everybody in the same basket

Yes I had been hearing for years about all the racism in Ukraine - and discrimination even against Russians... it's only because Russia is one of the only two countries that can stand up to the US - So the media will demonize them. Same thing like the Uighurs in China. The western media doesn't talk about all the terrorist attacks they committed in China to make China crack down on them... Because China can stand up to the US>

The Jamaican students in Ukraine were prep early and arrangements were made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as such within the second week or so of the war the Jamaican students were back in Jamaica, so I believe that the various countries did not act swiftly in making proper arrangements for their fellow citizens. Sorry to know you are caught in the middle especially when it involves family.
This is a thoughtful and measured response. It is one of the most helpful because it is among the few well informed on the foreign nationals evacuation issue. The cries of racism are understandable if a bit reactive and visceral as opposed to logical. The general convention and diplomatic rules between countries is that in emergency circumstances, it is the embassies of the respective countries that are responsible for evacuating their citizens. The reason for this is because intra country Visa and secure clearance requirements and regular immigration agreements differ between countries. Around the world anywhere, this is the diplomatic practise. Sometimes the charge of racism is driven by paranoia because of the experience of it in other settings other than the current. But slander and false accusation is also a high price for others to pay for what can be our reflective paranoia based on expectation, rather than what is true in immediate circumstances in front of us. We need to be careful to not presume. In this case I definitely just think it's the uncoordinated beauracracies around foreign students and workers between diplomatic missions and the host country, in this case, Ukraine.

Yes, countries are responsible for extracting their citizens in emergency situations. But how do you expect countries to jump into an actual war to extract their citizens? You may say they could have done so before the war started, but we all know that there was a huge amount of uncertainty as whether Russian was going to take the horrible actions that it has taken. But all that is not really relevant to the real wicked actions we are talking about. For example, cars in queues to Poland being pulled aside due to wrong skin colour. Ask yourself, based on the nonsense explanation that you have provided, if those cars pulled aside were operated by a foreign government trying to protect its citizens, would it make a difference? And should it make a difference? Is it not human lives in those cars? I’m talking about private vehicles being pulled aside and their occupants being made to walk, not people trying to get on to Ukrainian government vehicles. If it was truly about citizenship and not race, why are we hearing such atrocities from from black and Asian British but not White British? I’m sure you would have an answer to that too, perhaps a false claim that there were no White Brits in Ukrain. If you are not a wicked person, then do not explain away wicked actions. It’s sickening.
People like you try this nonsense explanation because the wickedness against blacks and other non-whites doesn’t fit the narrative of Ukrain being a victim, which it is, but the fact of the victim doing something worse has to be washed out by people such as yourself. We had the same scenario emerge in China which black residents faced extreme discrimination and some, similar to yourself tried to suppress that fact in order to advance solely the fact that people who appeared to be Chinese to some faced discrimination outside of China - the fact that some people who face discrimination elsewhere were actively meting out worse treatment to others had to be suppressed. We are sick and tired of people such as yourself. You contribute nothing to making the world a better place for all.
Imagine this: British government providing military aid to Ukrain and Ukrainians receiving refuge in Britain including personal assistance from British citizens; while Black Britons are being told to remove their personal cars from queues (because the British government has responsibility to come to Ukrain and create a special roads out of Ukrain for British citizens). Look in the mirror and shout out “that is sensible and fair to me!”.
