    Hi Kal,
    Did as you said, no 12v at the b/w wire at the ECU, tracked back to the cut off and engine stop relays, no 12v.So i went to the rectifier and found no 12v. Kal, youve guessed it already, i am the biggest donkey that walks on this planet. Went back to the main fuse, looks fine, that is until i put a continuity across the spades and found it open circuit.
    New fuse, up and running, except the fuse holder gets hot so i shall modify.
    Kal, you are a superstar, your imput saved a suicide. T.

    great information... this video give me the courage to buy an USA model ECU for a Hiss cbr 1000rr 2008 and thats it, after a little research regarding the wire harness of an australian an an US model find that putting power to the No. 16 pin in the grey coupler from the No.4 pin in the black coupler and.... wala!!!! the bike runs great without the inmobilizer.
    Thx

    Hello Kal,
    Is is possible to have the wiring diagram for both the EU and the US version of the VFR800 VTEC please?

  • @KaldekBoch
    @KaldekBoch  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It should work fine, the process would be the same but you just have to trace the wiring differences between the HISS and non-HISS models to see what extra wires the USA ECU needs (if any).

    Hello kal how did you work out what pin you needed to feed I’m trying to fit a us ecu to a uk bike on a gl1800 what do I need to look for on the wiring diagram

  • @KaldekBoch
    @KaldekBoch  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    OK next step is to check that you have power at the Black/White wire going into the ECU. This is easy enough; turn off the key and remove the ECU connectors from the ECU. Find the pin(s) which have the Black/White wire going into them and stick a multimeter positive probe into one of them. Hold the negative multimeter probe to the bike's frame then turn on the ignition key. You NEED 12 volts at that black/white wire.

The one I saw in Britain was a Haas full kit but I don't think I need that my engine is a 2013 and the question I would like to ask is. There are loads of ECUs on eBay but there are many different part numbers, How do I find out what one I can use on my engine. Thanks.

    • @KaldekBoch
      @KaldekBoch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HISS is "Honda Ignition Security System". The light is just meant to scare away would-be thieves and make owners feel more secure. HISS itself just means the ECU won't start the bike unless the correct coded key is detected.

    @jonono63 I happened to have a USA wiring harness and an Aussie harness back to back, so I created an Excel spreadsheet and marked what colour wire went into each pin on the harness-side connector. If you don't have that you will need a USA model wiring diagram from Honda and an Aussie model, and compare those instead. Also your CBR1100XX is an older model ECU hardware - maybe you won't need to do anything other than just plug in the USA ECU!

    Have you tested that the fuel pump is getting 12 volts? Lift up the tank and check there. If it is getting 12 volts but there's no fuel pump sound, the pump is jammed and needs replacing. If it's not getting 12 volts I'd go back to the fuel cut and engine stop relays. More than one VFR has suffered from a dodgy engine stop switch; these CAN fail, and the symptoms are the same.

    • @KaldekBoch
      @KaldekBoch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the time no I didn't notice a difference. It would probably be minor anyway because the VFR is tuned for low octane fuel (87 AKI in the USA and 91RON elsewhere which are quite close).
      Really the only way to get more power out of a stock motor is a piggyback ECU that can also adjust ignition timing so you can run more advance and use high octane fuel.

    Can't see how a diode on the ignition barrel will work - the ECU needs to see a power source on two separate pins that lead into the ECU. I believe power *can* be removed from the second pin once the ECU has booted up, but since you need the wire and pin in the first place you don't achieve anything with a diode.

The ECM was also from the states, but I live in Australia and its an Aussie spec CBR. At First everything worked fine, it started ok but ran rough. Now it wont start at all. The fuel pump is not priming and I suspect the HISS. The pump does work when i supply it with power at the relay. Could the HISS be interfering with this? There is a 4 pin connector out the back of the ignition key switch that does not seem to connect into the US loom anywhere, I thought at one time this was part of the HISS circuit but the HISS light is flashing on the dashboard so I guess its working. It really has me foxed this one....any ideas? excellent video by the way

    Ah yes, you do actually need the wiring diagram with pin numbers so you can see what's what. I'll update the video info with a link to the Excel spreadsheet that provides the info. For reference, it's pin #16 on the grey connector that needs the additional power feed.

    H i Kal, You sound like a diamond guy.What happens first is that there is no HISS light blinking when you aproach the bike (no ign key inserted). Insert the key turn on, no lights at all except oil (red), N (green) & h'lights (no F1 or HISS). turn key off and HISS light starts blinking normally with or without key in lock.
    When ign turned on i hear the engine stop relay click on and stay on (this is the relay above the oil cooler, nearside, side stand side of bike.
    Terry.

    Thanks for the great video, and for the hope I might get my cbr1100xx blackbird back on the road. My ecu looks like yours, but the wires are different colours. I have just bought a US ecu but don't want to fry anything by putting wire in wrong place. Are the pin numbers just the same? How do you count the pins?
    regards - jon (adelaide)

    Sounds like the ECU is not starting or has failed. At this point I don't have any advice for you.

      I think what you're saying is that the ECU is looking for a 9 volt signal as the trigger for putting it into key programming mode?

    Have you tested that the fuel pump is getting 12 volts? Lift up the tank and check there. If it is getting 12 volts but there's no fuel pump sound, the pump is jammed and needs replacing. If it's not getting 12 volts I'd go back to the fuel cut and engine stop relays. More than one VFR has suffered from a dodgy engine stop switch; these CAN fail, and the symptoms are the same.
