Such an awesome story!! Thanks for sharing your journey! Merry Christmas to you, your family & friends! Abbreviated story: I have always been car crazy! My mother got me into the hobby at age 5 (1960). She built a '59 Buick Invenci convertible with ALL the custom parts....no paint. I thought it was the koolest thing I had ever seen. That got me started 'building' until I was around 12 yo...then girls and 1 to 1 cars came along. I did not build again until my very late 50's and only very 'casually'. I only started seriously building in the last 5 or so years. I have looked for ~ 5 years for a reasonably priced '59 Buick Invenci convertible kit. I finally (3 weeks ago) found a partial kit and a build that I could combine and make one car as an homage to my mother. Some upgrades will be done, but the color combo will be gloss white (body) and a combination of white and racing white for the interior.

Great family story Jason. So glad you had support from your relatives during your difficult times. That Charger looks good. Nice color combo. We all remember how we got into model car building. My story started when we moved to Staten Island NY in 1968 when I was nine. Until I started making friends my dad and I were in a store named Grants and he bought me the first of many kits from that store. It was a '65 Pontiac Gran Prix. From there it went to a '61 Ford and so on. Of course military, votec school, girls etc. Still built but slowly. Picked up again in the lafe eighties. Been hooked ever since. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

When I built my first model, the 1:1 Charger was 8 years in the future!
P.S. To you and Frank: There were no fuel return lines on carbureted cars ! No worries!😁

I remember when I was getting back into modeling from my childhood years in early 77 right before getting married. And one of the first kits I bought was that Monogram 69 Camaro, and opening the kit thought what the heck is this. Knowing that it didn't look right I took it out the the garage and held it up to my 69 Camaro sitting there and the model look like a cartoon character to it. Built it anyway and was much happier when Revell came out with their 1/25th.

Great answer Jason! I love the charger I haven't built that yet, but I have one. The monogram Camaro is my favorite kit! I've said that in a recent video. I bought a few when they were at Ollie's and I bought all the different versions of that kit. Merry Christmas 🧑‍🎄🎄😎👍

Been restoring and customizing diecast cars, but I recently came across some if my old models and am getting back into 1/25 models. Funny thing is I am doing that '68 Charger right now! I selected it because I had a '68 as a kid and am doing a bit of a tribute to my old car. Thanks for sharing. I remember going the the Newington Mall, too. Looking forward to cars and coffee.
