Well done video friend. I've been trying to get better at it myself. This Chrome Gawain has been smacking me around all week, but he's probably some of the best practice one can get.
Hi BK I'm WheatSnow. I have another tip for JG which I tried out by myself. Open the shield in the air and you can JG at the moment you land on the ground. It doesn't matter the air JG time range is passed or not. All the types of shields apply this method. Tower shield has a little bit longer time range than other shields if JG in this way.
When trying to PG something.. Most of the time (especially on Devours) i got sudden/short panick attack. Which almost always mess me up, by making me afraid and then guard too early... >
I recently pick this game out of bamco sale and thought "well i've beat both GE and GE2 this one shouldn't be too bad" then got my butt kicked trying to just guard. Then i realized that keep forcing myself using buckler only to be better on just guarding isn't gonna cut it so i decide to use tower shield for my training and surprisingly i got really comfortable with the timing even if sometime i just choose to normal block a lot of attack that i know it just not worth it to just guard. Anyways great video BK 👍
Hm. Let's see. If you're Perfecting trying to use the stuff in this video, then you've gotta end up some something like this: th-cam.com/video/IIW9v7kIGxw/w-d-xo.html
The GE community is too small to have a comprehensive guide suddenly pop out through community effort, quite unfortunately. However, there are people like you, lmao! Thanks for the tips. You know, it's kinda sad that it is difficult at times to find someone to play with in GE in general. Yet at the same time, GEB even back then rewarded solo-play/single-player and it never felt out of place to play without friends, so it didn't matter to some (at least, I feel that way) that the GE experience is a solitary endeavor. I feel like it had become common place for older players of GE to develop the notion of becoming the top king of their own "world".
I kinda had things in mind that may help in JG practice. Start by JG-ing attacks that you think are fun to do (Three of mine would be Point Blank Balmung’s Devour, Dromi’s 180 turn when Devouring and Hannibal’s fire pillar attack when its scales are broken). The more engaged you are in practices, the more determined you’ll be when it comes to JG-ing. If you find JG-ing attacks simple, try some of the fun ways to JG the attacks (Like a Backflip JG or Rising Edge JG; ever experimented it on Dromi’s Devour). If that’s too frustrating, watch some attack patterns from each Aragami that you think its fun to deal with and I believe that could get you engaged (I experienced it after fighting Hannibal multiple times and that was around a year ago. Now I can JG all its attacks in a basic manner). Hope this helps though.
I actually downloaded this video offline, and guess what, I actually can just guard perfectly now. Instead of just hack and slashing my way with buster blade, I actually slow down the fight a bit to study the movements of aragamis, and when to block. Tips here can be daunting to new players, but after playing God Eater series for a long time, I just learned just guard last week because of this video( believe me, I'm an idiot for a long time playing this, never even use a shield until I fought the Dromi and got frustrated and watched the video).

learning perfect guarding is not a hard thing to me because i play this game for 16hours every day so im getting good too early btw i learned alot from watching your clears and this video you are far and far better than me
Seeing all your videos on GE3 is making me wanna play the game for myself. The one issue I'm facing is the game feels extremely easy to just blast through aragami in about a minute to a minute 30 and it's kinda putting me off. Does the game ever get harder? Or do Aragami ever get the massive boost in HP I feel they need?
I think watching me is a bad example to determine the difficulty of the game because I never really upload videos where I'm struggling. If it ever feels like it gets too easy, you can just limit yourself to the strength of the gear you use. When I play with my friends, I use Rank 1 gear on the hardest missions and it starts to become almost impossibly hard and missions take 15min to 30min.
When I run BE I'm in glaive form most of the time. Do you think I'm better off trying to step away/dive then trying to get a JG on attacks? Iirc you can dive in glaive form and after it's finished glaive form is returned.
I think you should step away. Some weapons like Edge and Spear just don't mesh well with the aggressive JG playstyle. Using Dive is a bit counter productive to the stamina hunger of the glaive in most cases. If you are in Glaive mode and dive, you can attack during the dive to leave glaive mode. But if you knock into something with the dive, I think you're stuck in glaive (?)
I pretty much have a gist on the timing of Perfect Guard for bucklers and shields. But for tower shields, I just couldn't get the timing right. Not to mention some blocks don't cover the right area(special mention to gawain's arm swipe and dromi's devour attack). Man wish I had guard speed and guard radius like in Rage Burst😥😫😓.
what i need to JG: Perfect: Badger lv10 Ideal: Guard Speed (because like hell i will stick to the default guard speed from shield/tower shield i get mopped by a damn KoNgOu because of that! gaaaah!! (bad used to badger since GE2) Now i... i use broquel the most, it's guard speed is just perfect and i already are familiar with the timing, i'm trying to be in good terms with shield and tower shield only when i get parts to speed up my guarding. so far, what i realy wantes do master are the final vengeance... need to play GE2 again i guess... hahaha! but still, i'm in the right track, my guard capabilityes are much better than before. as you said, one must just practice and learn.
In the next GE3 update, there's supposed to be a skill that increases guard range. Magbe guard speed is in the future so I gotta prepare myself to refuse using it 👀
@@bkbrent God Eater 2 Rage Burst and Resurrection's buckler shield deployment. I just recently played this game, and it actually feels faster. Just Guarding also feels easier. I'm playing this game with my friend on pc, and I gotta say, Heavy Moon is OP.
The only ash Aragami that i can perfectly guard its attack was Nuadha. I'm really hoping to perfectly guard all Barbarius attack and sometimes Gawain attack
I don't know if you still remember God Eater 2 but I'm looking for the way/weapon to do a certain Hammer move where you swing a poison-type Hammer left and right repeatedly but your character throws around poison bombs/drops nearby with each swing. I don't even know what weapon it is or if it's a Blood Art but I recall I saw it from a Japanese video of GE2 played on the Vita at the time. All I know is it's poison element because the bombs looked like large purple droplets that burst upon hitting the floor. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please tell me. It has been a long time since I've seen it and I can't even find the clip anymore.
One small tip maybe u forgot to mention, to master perfect guard, one should practice with the same distance, ie someone like me i can guard well in fairly close distance, but some one might find mid range is good for him.
I don't think so. Experience, Understanding patterns and muscle memory are more important than reactions. You're just assuming that Just Guarding is something done purely on instinct when in actuality, its really more about knowledge and practice than anything. This is because if you have a general idea of what's coming next, you don't really need to react to anything unexpected and just do what you practiced to do.
@@bkbrent I've tried again and again, just to get those tiny upgrade things unlocked (I forgot what they are called) and it took forever to get some lucky just guards in. That's proof enough that having reaction times TWICE the human average, just guard (or parry in Soulsborne) becomes a matter of luck.
I have inanely bad reflex, so I l'm using Tower most of the time now. I used to equip buckler during progression, but at the end game it's kinda frustrate me. So I rather use Tower and only focus trying to PG devour attack with Tower. It's more comfy for me.
@@sakhawi5542 how about I keep it to myself and fund a team to make GE4 with me as the lead producer (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ False Idols getting deleted first thing ww
PG isn't important, u can do perfect clears without the shield xD Just kidding :D Nice video and tips, especially the one in description. Just one more point, many people will think that PG is only a must for devour attack, that kinda true, but as u said, if u don't practice to get better u won't be able to do it just when u want to 🤷♂️ Also, trying to PG every attack is important to get better, but if there's one attack that u can get PG on, ignore it and PG the other attacks, u don't have to PG every attack 😅
@@bkbrent at some point, and no matter what, as long u continue play and getting better, u will try to reach the next level. So yeah, try to PG everything, then if u see yourself really bad at one specific attack, then ignore it and PG everything else. Once u can 100% PG everything else, then go back to that one u couldn't do it before and let it happen! in GE always there's more room to improve.
I realize this is 3 years too late, but does the Parrying Upper move (or its variations) on Buster have a Just Guard timing on it? I swear I've seen it happen on other videos, but the info I find regarding it is conflicting.
I just started playing GE3 not too long ago and i already feel the guard timing in this is kinda wider than in GE2RB. It's like you have Guard Speed 10 already and i end up guarding too early.
I feel like the blocking in this version is pretty slow. In the old games, I'm able to block attacks extremely quick, especially when using perfect guard, while attacking. Now in God Eater 3, any attack animation I do, I cant pull out my shield quick enough.
Um, the buckler guard startup is like very close to 1 frame so I'm not actually sure what you're talking about? Unless you mean canceling recovery frames from ground attacks into block.
@@bkbrent Well, I do use the buckler shield and I'm using the Bitting Edge, so it just might be my god arc having long attack animation that leave me vulnerable or something. I'm not too sure honestly, but it just feels different for sure.
I have auto guard lol I love it I'm already good at perfect guard but I main the tower shield and perfect block isn't exactly easier with a tower shield lol the buckler shield is easier to deploy so of course it's alot and I do mean ALOT easier to pull off a perfect block it takes no real skill at all perfect block with the tower shield takes real skill since it's alot slower to deploy lol sorry I've 100% everything on the switch version lol

A guard radius skill should be coming in the next update.
@@bkbrent Awesome!! Can't wait to add it to my tower shields!!
what i need to JG:
Perfect: Badger lv10
Ideal: Guard Speed (because like hell i will stick to the default guard speed from shield/tower shield i get mopped by a damn KoNgOu because of that! gaaaah!! (bad used to badger since GE2)
Now i... i use broquel the most, it's guard speed is just perfect and i already are familiar with the timing, i'm trying to be in good terms with shield and tower shield only when i get parts to speed up my guarding.
so far, what i realy wantes do master are the final vengeance... need to play GE2 again i guess... hahaha!
but still, i'm in the right track, my guard capabilityes are much better than before. as you said, one must just practice and learn.
In the next GE3 update, there's supposed to be a skill that increases guard range. Magbe guard speed is in the future so I gotta prepare myself to refuse using it 👀
eeeeh..... i will still depending to guard speed. haha! the most important part is that i'm learning.
God Eater 3's buckler shield deployment speed feels faster imo.
Faster than?
@@bkbrent
God Eater 2 Rage Burst and Resurrection's buckler shield deployment.
I just recently played this game, and it actually feels faster.
Just Guarding also feels easier.
I'm playing this game with my friend on pc, and I gotta say, Heavy Moon is OP.
You are right in both accounts of buckler speed being faster and JGs being easier.
@@bkbrent
Yay, I'm correct :D
The only ash Aragami that i can perfectly guard its attack was Nuadha. I'm really hoping to perfectly guard all Barbarius attack and sometimes Gawain attack
Have to keep practicing (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
Yess I'll keep practicing for the best!
Cool background theme, whats that game called again?
My tip for getting better at JG.
keep getting Forked over by Aragami

Probably best tip.
Let's discuss JG (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Indeed it is
I don't know if you still remember God Eater 2 but I'm looking for the way/weapon to do a certain Hammer move where you swing a poison-type Hammer left and right repeatedly but your character throws around poison bombs/drops nearby with each swing.
Maybe in here

One small tip maybe u forgot to mention, to master perfect guard, one should practice with the same distance, ie someone like me i can guard well in fairly close distance, but some one might find mid range is good for him.
Just guard is NOT all about practice.
If one's reaction times are too slow (like mine are), just guarding becomes nothing but a matter of luck.
To perfect guard perfectly, you need to train perfect dodge in dark souls...
あwesome video.
I have inanely bad reflex, so I l'm using Tower most of the time now.
I used to equip buckler during progression, but at the end game it's kinda frustrate me.
So I rather use Tower and only focus trying to PG devour attack with Tower. It's more comfy for me.
Whatevers most comfortable (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
What abandoned arc u use for recovery health? I didn't know there were such recovery health in ge3?
Its an Accel Trigger. HP Healer.
Damn you have such an intimidating voice, cool!
That's the first time I've been told that.
Maybe I should stop doing YT and go rob banks 👀
@@bkbrent oh no, what have I done, give the rob money to Bandai Namco to make more stuff XD

Perfect Guard........... After multiple painful sessions..... wait this not code vein
Yes. Its a game that's actually fun :V
BK Brent Code Vein is fun though (*´ - `)
PG isn't important, u can do perfect clears without the shield xD Just kidding :D
Nice video and tips, especially the one in description.
Just one more point, many people will think that PG is only a must for devour attack, that kinda true, but as u said, if u don't practice to get better u won't be able to do it just when u want to 🤷♂️
Also, trying to PG every attack is important to get better, but if there's one attack that u can get PG on, ignore it and PG the other attacks, u don't have to PG every attack 😅
Yes. Only idiots like me try to guard everything, but I said that just because its the best way to learn patterns
Perfect Clears without blocking...I accept the challenge.
Doing the perfect guard in ge burst is nearly impossible, but almost too easy
I realize this is 3 years too late, but does the Parrying Upper move (or its variations) on Buster have a Just Guard timing on it? I swear I've seen it happen on other videos, but the info I find regarding it is conflicting.
It does not.
@@bkbrent Ah, that's unfortunate...
Thanks for helping out!

Hakaviri gives me nightmares
1.00 Havakiri gives me nightmares.
I just started playing GE3 not too long ago and i already feel the guard timing in this is kinda wider than in GE2RB. It's like you have Guard Speed 10 already and i end up guarding too early.
Hello do you have a video about bullet recipes
Getting back into God Eater from Burst on the PSP, can you perfect guard on any blade type now? I remember in GE Burst only the Buster could do that
I used to be amazingly good at doing it in Burst, but I’ve been trying here with a Long Blade and I just can’t get one off
HAHA I GOT IT OFF now to practice
Can you perfect guard using Buster Blade counter?
You can't.
@@bkbrent aww
Man i always fuck up and lately getting frustrated, but in the end i manage to kill aragamis
If you get frustrated take a short break and look at some eros

If only I have PS Plus...Well I can’t do Multiplayer JG runs as for now.
Get ps plus nao
I’ll have to wait till Late May to do that.
Is BK Brent a Japanese dude or an English dude?
I've been watching him for a long time now, and I still can't figure it out.
English dude who learned Japanese.
@@bkbrent
Your Japanese in the end is so... Good...
I'm better at writing and listening then speaking. Need to practice more.
orz
Is it easier to just guard if you dont have the aragami locked on? im too used to keeping the aragami locked on x.x
I think so. You can sort of position yourself more precisely without lock on because you have more control over the camera.
Would this be similar timing to using the parry for the buster blade? because i need to get better at that
The timing in that is a lot more lax
@@bkbrent ok thanks
I'm not too sure honestly, but it just feels different for sure.
for me it was very difficult to do the timing guard and ended up always failing..T▽T
Never give up.
until when is the final patch for this game I wonder?
If Ein is the last one, April. I hope they announce some more as part of GE 10th anniversary though
@@bkbrent yeah hopefully, would be a shame not to do anything with ge3
also question pertaining to just guards, where is the hit box on dromi devour
@@lucidnightmare688 It depends on whether he is moving or not, but its around all 3 mouths and underneath them. You can even get hit under his chest
Hm.... why do you jump before guarding?)
It sometimes helps me time my guarding better
what settings did you change at the options at the beginning?
You can change the 'combo action' between the gun flip and the gun special action with that setting.
Imagine that being wrong.
does it matter what kind of shield you have to perfect guard
The shields have different deployment times that affect Just Guard timing. Use what youre most comfortable with.
