Some programming may be available some programming won't be available this is definitely worth the money to be able to do all this so this was just a dry run through very quick I could go more in-depth but this is just to show you the program more than to tell you to go program modules
That Transmission pressure sensor thing. Well the earth for the pressure sensor and Pressure control soleniod. Either at the trans or at the TCM ECM if the voltage floats or is poorly connected it can effect both items. A code sometimes comes up too. I' ve seen it break the earth and the trans changes become harsh and or slip.
THANK YOU!!!! FINALLY a review of forscan doing some useful functions. I've wanted to buy this for a while, hoping it had diagnostic capabilities. All I ever see folks doing online is changing chimes, light settings, etc. I want to diagnose and repair. I could care less about my chime sounds. THANKS AGAIN!!!
Oh the days of taking a Crown Vic/Charger/Explorer/Impala and making it a police car back in 07-08. Setting up the radar, Panasonic tuff book, sirens, lights bars, ram bars, partitions and bio seats. Some days i miss it but most days I’m glad I’m out of that particular field.
Been running forscan since about 14 on my 13 and 16 Fusion, great program if you own a Ford, very impressed with it. Can reset adaptive tables, ABS brake bleed, reset modules e brake service mode, you can program certain options... That's how I programmed TPMS into the left hand guage screen, the digital speedo, equalizer presets for the sony stereo, allow the fog lights to stay on with the high beams etc
I finally used the copy of FORScan I bought few years back on a Expedition with a PATS debacle. Did the same thing and paid the $50 lifetime subscription, well worth the money. Side note: FORScan doesn’t let you use the PATS feature on free copies. You have to pay for a subscription or use the free trial in order to access the ability to access PATS.
Thanks! Now I need one lol 😂 really liked the review. Looking forward to you doing a real good run through at your shop. Maybe a local viewer might let you do a run through if their car.
I have fordscan and have used it on numerous occasions. I have insfalled factory brake controller, change some things and programmed keys. I works great 👍
I’d love to know if the cylinder contribution testing and compression testing is good as the factory tool. Snap on and others are junk for that option but with ids it’s so spot on.
I ran a static DPF regeneration on my 2015 F250 6.7 L Powerstroke a few weeks ago. Man once it hits 2,000 RPM and the fan and fan clutch start going, it’s way LOUDER then I thought it would be. And the exhaust definitely got super hot.
It doesn't do 100% of Fords IDS but it has done everything I have needed it to do. The best part is its not expensive at all. Pay for the license to get the full access(I did the lifetime since it was only $50 as well) and the dongle (I think was another $50) and you're good to go. Great piece of software.
So I've experienced it being able to do more in certain areas than IDs but I've also experienced did not being able to do everything that idd does as I have previously stated.... I agree with you this is not a clean cut and dry Answer to Ford programming and Diagnostics but it definitely does a really good job
I've used forscan for on my wife's 2011 expedition to change the oil change interval to make the oil life duration shorter, change the tire pressure warning limit (put load range E tires on it that need at least 45psi for same load as original tires) and turned the bulb-out fast flash off so that I could use LED taillight assemblies (stock bulb sockets were over heating with the stock incandescent bulbs, tried cleaning contacts, electrical grease, bad design). It is a very handy program.
Question, I just got a Ford Transit Cargo van with rear ac and heat.... The Rear AC controls took the place of the switch for the cargo lights I can't find a way to turn the cargo lights on... Is it possible to program the cargo lights to the map light switch? So when you turn the center map light switch, that it triggers the rear cargo lights as well? Is that possible?
I paid the $50 for the lifetime ForScan & I also have the older dongle with the switch & bought the new one when it came out. It paid for itself the first time I used it. My daughters '12 Escape only had one key (not original) when I bought it. Dealer wanted $285 for 1 new key & programming. I bought 2 new keys on Amazon, had them cut at the local hardware store & programmed them myself. Used it recently on my son's '06 Escape to put in a used ABS module. Changed the "As Built" data & she was good to go. No programming needed.
Lots of places can do the Ford key and other auto programming $40-85. Mills Fleet&Farm does it. =Goto some place that does a ton of keys and have the new $7k-10k system.
Its pretty useful. On the older superduties dont have as much stuff even up to 2016. The 2015+ f150 and 17+f250 have alot of options to modify. Upgrading my ford touch, tire size, tpms stuff. Lots of cool things.
People look at me sideways at the dealership when I talk about this exact thing. A rep at ford even told me my car doesn't have GPS from the factory even though my car gives me GPS coordinates and no map.... OK then, enabled it straight from forscan. Problem solved. I now have GPS on my sync 2 system. I also had to reprogram my back up camera when I had that replaced through collision. All the sensors and stuff work now after the reprogram that wasn't done at the collision center. Forscan has its limits though. Biggest of them is key programming. if for example, you have only 1 key and need to program a second to work if you don't have or lost the original 2nd. You'll end up making the only 1 key you have completely useless. Still a pretty cool tool to have.
Glad to see OBD Link has a auto switching USB version now, my mx and mx+ have never given me any problems but a hardwired connection is prefered when making changes. A genuine ELS27 is a good option as well in my experience but tends to be a little pricer.
I have 2011 f150 3.5 eco lariat. Stop light replace on driver side. But won’t work. Saw where you said something about clearing codes. But no check engine light is on.
The 2 month trial is free. You can get a 2 month trial over and over without circumventing anything. You just have to go to the site and get a new trial key to enter into the program.
Yeah these guys build these programs and make it possible for us to do the things that we do so everybody has an opinion and if you're using it why not just pay for it I get that that's what you do when there's nothing wrong with that but I think people should be paying for it
It's nice that they offer options, different lengths of time and pricing. The individual can decide which one suits their needs best. Some might use it once, others once or twice a year, and some every day on multiple vehicles. 2 months, 1yr, 2yr, 5yr or lifetime. Free-$50....and then there's the app, FORScan Lite for $6, limited in what can be done but has some useful features.
Has anyone found a way in the 2020+ Ford Explorer to change the amount of flashes other than 3 of turn signal when one touches and releases turn signal stock? Used to be in SCCM 724-01-01 in earlier models.
Never used FORscan i'd love to try it Ive seen the DLC FORscan Link adapter on E-bay Thought about getting it but i figure i have FJDS and FDRS already thats the best of the best besides an OE tool like u use!!!!! Is it worth for me to grab one up bro?
Cool. If you have some free time and you feel like covering programming ignition keys using Forscan, that would be a useful video to myself and others. Thanks bud.
Key programming is covered in your owners manual. If you only have 1 key and not the original second then take it to a dealership 100%. Forscan will make the 1 and only key you have that does work and make it useless because forscan wipes any and all known keys out of the system. You will not be able to start your car again with your key. You need the original 2 keys that came with your car to program a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.
Hey Rick, as a pro technician, what's your take on module updating, in general ( using IDS ). Would you just keep stuff up-to date or you go by as 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ? Thanks
This is difficult because you try to tell people the manufacturer says if there's an update available to get it done but also at the same time I wholeheartedly believe if something isn't broke don't fix it
= If there is a problem try the update. If the update does more problems than good, flash it back and don't do the update until a few more years passes (if ever). At home I still run Windows 7 Pro. -Still works and gets the job done. Win11 just came out (has apps etc) = I will give it another year or two for Microsoft to sort it out first.
I have fount vgate vlinker FS better. It is even supporting FEPS. Speed of reading data also seems to be higher on vlinker FS. Anyway, obdlink is also awesome. That`s right, the manual switch chinese adapters are pretty bad.

Forscan works great! Yes you can program, if ya take the time to learn how to!
The Oscilloscope shows live Data. I have an android stereo and have it set up in gauge mode! Needs an obd link MX+ for that.

Best engine

I miss the good old days when there were no expensive computers on vehicles.
Can you program solenoid strategy with this?
I'm not really sure
