  • This video is the short version of the new Garret GTX3071 Turbo install on the Mazda 6 MPS. It is by far the largest job that Tims Garage has shown and it requires a higher level of patience and fabrication skills (or mates who have the skills) to pull it all together. This video shows the build quickly, but there is also a more in-depth video found at the link below if you need a more step-by-step approach (or if you just like the video)
    Thanks for watching.

Hi Drake32t, To turbo a car you have 2 options, one is to bolt a turbo onto your existing engine, or 2 replace your current eating with an already turbo'd one, in both cases a tune is required or even computer replacement. The video you watched is the short version of a job that took a week or so, it can be done sooner but some parts needed to be sourced and I did a lot of the alterations and fabrication myself. check out the full video to see more detail about whats involved at th-cam.com/video/DDwncVjb1i0/w-d-xo.html. To get you started you need an adapted exhaust manifold to bolt the turbo onto, a dump pipe out of the turbo to connect to the exhaust system, an intake adaption to get air into the turbo and an intercooler so that the pressurised air can be cooled before entering the engine. Then you need the turbo, boost controller, tune, and some time to figure out any issues that may arise. Hope that helps mate. Tim

That sounds great I have to find a motor I like to put the Ford ecoboost every one is saying I will have to rewire the hole car there's a guy on u tube that turbo ed the 3.o liter but I cant find out how did his plumbing an how made his turbo manifold I think I might be able scavenge one off the EcoBoost but I'm not sure if I'm going to run into issues with putting the turbo behind the motor in the video that can I get on here on you to his trip was up there were the battery box and B come towards battery tray and I seen where you did the plumbing for the air cooler and it seemed like with a piping went I could possibly and I'd have to replumb a little bit of the the hose in right there for and make it go up instead of in behind the motor there by the battery tray where you guys put the F but that bottle the windshield washer fluid bottle on the other side there no they arrest report so I'm not sure if that's possible or not but I mean I've seen it I seen have they put it there but I just can't find out where he is and I'll try to get ahold of him and he just hasn't got back with me but your information quite valuable and you seem like a pretty knowledgeable on the Mazda I know I can use the ford Dura tec motor for half the price :) you just walk over the externals from the old Mazda Motor so I've learned a little bit I'm so excited I can't wait to see those videos so this gives me time to decide what motor I can work more I can buy what the what I can't I would love to be able to just buy the turbo Mazda Motor Inn just swap it over to that but I'm not sure if I can go from 3.0 to 2.3 I'd really like to just tried to buy that intercooler kit and have you moccasin person and a great

The end there was supposed to say Marc up some of the parts to fit the turbo where the battery tray would be so I would have to plumb the intercooler to go up to the turbo instead of a round behind which would be a lot cleaner if I could put a turbo in the back where the exhaust is going to think to drive shafts and everything is just lots of fun no space back there lol
