Opening the remote and closing the remote are slightly harder to do than you would think. You have to press on the button for a couple of seconds to open it. You have to press the back in a specific way to close it.
good lord was going crazy. kept pushing the button but nothing would budge. then you said, "click" and i figured it out. my thumbs were too big to depress the button far enough. used something smaller and it was easy. so thanks!
I could have spent the rest of my natural life trying to get into this remote to change the battery, thanks! Why not a slide to open or even better usb recharge.
My remote can only turn the TV on and off, Mute and Volume Up and Down. Making the remote COMPLETELY useless. Could leaking battery acid cause the lower portion of the remote to become useless? And, mind you, I've had my PS5 since March of 2021 and I haven't used it as much as I used my PS1-4.

Low battery voltage can cause misbehavior, such as randomly turning on the PS5 due to vibrations.
I had that and coming here was due to finding out how to remove the batteries for a test. Thanks for clarifiying. It drove me nuts.
Ah that's why my PS5 randomly turned on at least 3 times today.. While the remote was IN my closed drawer. 💀
