Believe it not I actually had one in closer. I was calling in the black hills of SD, I had a large coyote coming in, but it circled around the meadow, and I lost sight of it when it got around the end. there were some young ones I could still see, so I kept calling, and after about 20 minutes I heard a growl from only a few feet behind me on my right side. I was setting under a big spruce tree, from my shoulder to his nose wasn't more then 18 inches. That growl was so intense the hair on the back of my neck stood up, he really wanted to bite me in the rabbit... When I turned my head, he freaked and ran to the left. I just held my gun out around the tree and fired. He was so close as he passed by the tree, the shot blast from my 22-250 literally left powder burns on the fur. it was also the largest bodied coyote I ever called in. I never called that stand by my self again. But we took a lot of dogs from there over the years.
This has been my absolute favorite video of yall, especially the shotgun part. Keep them coming, from Alabama state. I'd still would, volunteer around your ranch for a week to go coyote hunting with you all.
I'm guessing that load was something similar to a turkey load? It looked like that coyote was going to come bouncing right into his lap. I was wondering what is he waiting for. Coyote didn't see him at all until the gun began to raise, but finally saw him and stopped cold. That was the last thing he had any time at all to see, BARROOM! Hilarious, had me lolololing my ass off!
Awesome video!! Man, here in Wv, I kill em up close with the shotgun a lot. I use an Ar too, but the shotgun with Apex tungsten shot shells is devastating on the coyotes. Thanks !!
I always strive to call in predators as close to me as possible. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right. I had a Gray Fox literally jump over my legs while seated with my back up against a tree once. He thought I was a log. ..then I sent him toward the light and he’s now on my wall.
@@Ahoto_papa_bi Of course. However generally one positions themselves with a barrier on the backside. The coyote always tries to circle downwind of you, so you set up accordingly. I’ve called in and hunted coyote for 40 years and never had one attack me from the rear… let alone from any direction.
iv replayed that scene like 5 darn times lol, gets better every time! they way u look back at the cam, wait, and then breath out, is great! I think wed all react the same way. That yote was legit spitting distance! Its also a decent sized coyote, im up in the north est so a 40lber is average, but if ur out west thats big!
That's awesome i had a similar experience except I had a .243 ..... back against a tree and heard him behind me within feet...when he passed my tree his paw hit the top of my boot and he instantly glanced at me and took off like lightning back behind me... didn't even attempt a shot, just sat there laughing and shaking for a few mins! Awesome to have on video guys!
That's insane. Usually animals get that close unless they have the intent to attack you, but that coyote was just oblivious to the man with the 12 gauge shotgun that was just a few feet away from him.
Got one at this range as well with a shotgun - Had coyotes terrorizing our dog on the farm… my brother in-law was visiting and wanted to hunt them. He was sleeping in a trailer and I told him to wake me up if he heard them. 5am my brother in-law comes and we walk out our long driveway - the coyote was keeping about 200’ distance from us in the bush, we’d walk forward and he’d do the same, we’d walk back and he’d follow at the same distance from the bush. I told my brother in- law to walk forward while I disappeared into the bush, and then to walk back again after I was hidden. Sure enough, as soon as my brother in-law walked back towards the house… coyote popped his head up over a fallen tree and I had my bead ready & aiming down the path. Got him just like this video! Adrenaline was pretty high, can’t believe that coyote fell for the trick… Saskatchewan, Canada.
cool deal. I had one’s shoulder hit my gun barrel (model 7) its ears were back and it was growling. it was about 8in inches from biting me. what a rush, just sitting still and waiting for it was awesome.
I have the xwave caller as well. I notice that mine has a bit of a background noise kind of like white noise while it’s playing sounds which is more noticeable during a pause in the sound. Is that something you guys have noticed on yours? I am trying to determine if that is normal or not and if I should be change mine. Customer service says that is from the blue tooth module and that is normal operation but it just seems weird to me.
Do you guys always carry a shotgun and a rifle? I do because it seems if I’m hunting in Nevada I always have a yote slide in at 25 yards and I lose them because of the high brush.
I always drag my feet about ordering some damn overwhites this video just told me to do it. Not a whole lot of snow in Oklahoma but when it does show up I’m never ready!! Thanks for the epic video and saving me some $$$
I've shot many at 20yds but never like 3 to 4. Guess I need to get me a nice video machine of some sort! If anyone has a suggestion on a good name brand video making system let me know please. You guys are awesome! Making those memories man. Nothing like a day or few days out with your buddies hunting the woods.
I called in a Coyote in the hardwoods of the Catskills at dusk. My friend shot it with a rifle at such close range the muzzle flash almost reached the fur. Lesson he learned that day: make sure your scope magnification isn't too high.
Man your cammo was awesome. That dog had no idea you were there until you started moving the barrel toward him but by then it was too late. You could almost see the "oh $hit" look on it's face!
That was an unreal experience to watch. His reaction after the shotgun kill :)
The look on John's face after that no scope on that yote is priceless! I haven't laughed that hard in a bit! Great job fellas!
The accuracy from these long range shots is totally amazing 🙏🏻👍🏻👏👏👏
How he compensated for that stiff wind was amazing.....how many mils was it?
The reaction after the shotgun kill was priceless! 😂
Hip firing yotes innaface like an absolute degenerate 😂😂😂😂 blessed content 🙌
the look on his face was priceless!!! hahahahaha
Thats a testament to all of your knowledge on call and shooter placement 👌🏽
Ha! John could’ve had a bayonet kill on that one. Another fantastic video. Thanks guys!

That was sick! Every yote hunters dream right there.

@@Ahoto_papa_bi They never do. Even if it did (which it won’t), simply put the business end of your “tool” in its food hole and let’r rip.
@@colt10mmsecurity68 if they ever do, will you hear them coming from the back, in case you are not looking back

WOW 🤪 ! Best video you guys have ever made 😂 ! Absolutely loved it 👍🏼👍🏼 !
What if the coyote comes from behind the shooter and attacks the shooter?
The chances of that happening are very small as coyotes are afraid of humans and their natural response is to flee.@@Ahoto_papa_bi
He didnt even have time to react to your arm moving. That was awesome.
Best fu$$ing video of the yea lol I couldn stop laughing
Lmmfao that shotty dog was sick! 😂😅 John was so close he could of kissed him and not just with the shot gun! Lovin it gents keep that shit up!
That was sick 😂 didn’t even shoulder it, and the look on your face 😂
