My uncle did this for nearly 20 years. said it was the best job hes ever had. Got to travel and hangout with pilots in officers clubs all over the world as an enlisted guy. Im about to finish my senior year of college and ive been highly consider joining the air force when im done because of this exact job.

Well 1 year later what job did you apply for versus what job did you get have you deployed? Married? kids? I think I would have gone out to be a pilot mainly to be a Flying Fortress pilot or a artillery gunner on a flying fort. Basically a c-130 that they mounted 105mm howitzers in LOL 😂 ya know when you type out 105mm brings that whole 9mm in your holster thing way into persecutive LOL baby bullet versus flying concrete blocks or heavier LOL 😂

Great to see MSgt Kay and MSgt Thomas!! I knew these fine men when they were much younger and training to become Boom Operators at McGuire AFB. Brings back memories.
I love how they are just trying to talk you out of it the whole time.
They weren’t really trying to talk you out of it, it was more telling you the risks and things you should expect in the job.
28-year retired boom, 1988-2016. Castle/Altus instructor and Flight Test Boom. 71st AREFS Barksdale AFB, LA, 93rd BW (329th CCTS Castle AFB, CA), 55th ARS Altus AFB, OK, 77th ARS Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, 10th Flight Test SQ Tinker AFB, OK. I flew KC-135A, Q, R, T, and RT. 7300hrs, I was active duty, reserve, ART, and AGR. Blessed to have gotten to be a boom in the era that I was. I got to see SAC, hear the stories of Airmen that flew the KC-97 and the KB-50, I got to see some wonderful nose art before the Air Force got politically correct, refuel aircraft that are now retired (F-4, F-117, C-141 and others). Got to go to places that aren't open anymore, was in combat, combat support, medivac, hurrivac, got to meet some amazing people and do amazing things.

What I want to do for a living. Can’t be a fighter pilot because my eyesight but this would be good for me.
Same here. I also want to join right after highschool instead of going to college for four years first. (I'm a senior in highschool)

1:51 my neighbor said this was his job and as a result his neck is now F'd. I think he said his neck collapsed and he has a few vertebras that needed to be fused together or something like that. just thought i'd let y'all know that this can happen. I don't know why they can't use cameras with stereo vision if needed and a joystick but that's just me.

What would I need to score on the ASVAB to qualify for this job?
The ASVAB is broken down into four main categories (Mechanical, Administrative, General, and Electronic), and all enlisted career fields have a minimum score requirement that fall under one or more of these categories. These scores, along with the results of your physical examination, will be reviewed when you undergo job counseling during the enlistment process at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

@@no-yq7nspretty laid back, actually, lol. Lots of time shooting bull in the Squadron, deciding where to eat lunch, training, and as you rank up, paperwork.
