Hawaii Island got 53 inches from Lane in 2018 and this year during our Cat One we got two feet in our yard in 24 hours and nobody even reported on it.
That’s because it’s way more common to get that kind of rain there, the land is able to easily take that amount. Plus, I’m sure Hawai’i News Now did report on it.

Wow! 😮 The baseball stadium was being used as a shelter during the course of the Hurricane Milton's presence on land. It reminds me of Hurricane Katrina and how the New Orleans Super Dome was being used for shelter that turned into a nightmare for people who were sheltered in place in New Orleans, Louisiana back in 2005.

It's usual to say it's a once in a hundred years event, as a way to justify worse weather. Now it's a once in a thousand year event, even if record-keeping didn't exist back then.
Once in one thousand means in one thousand year period, there’s only a 0.001 percent chance of an event like this happening, ever.
It can happen literally every day for three years straight and still be a thousand year event.
It takes 20 to 30 years for climatologists to say FOR SURE that there’s been a permanent shift in the climate such that thousand year events become normal.

If climate change means rain instead of snow in winter where I live, I won't mind.
Don’t say that, less snow in the mountains means less snow in the rivers.
Do they grow crops where you live? Areas that normally get snow in winter, need the snow to keep and re-build nutrients in the soil.

In order for the money to be directed away, or taken, from FEMA it requires a simple action by the president -- just ask pab45.
It's why FEMA was created. For disasters. But if there hasn't been a disaster, and 640 Million dollars get allocated for non citizens. Then it might be a good idea to have some extra money for the neighborhoods on a rainy day. 🌧

FEMA was created for Disasters. The monies that get allocated to FEMA are used to prepare and recover from Disasters. That's the entire purpose of FEMA. However, if monies are allocated for a different purpose, like (640 million dollars in 2024 for non-citizens) then it defeats the entire purpose on why FEMA was created. If the monies aren't there. And used for something else. Then how does that help for Disasters, in times of crisis. 🤷
