  • I know, I know, it's been long over due. But finally, I've sold my 2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS. It's been a Beast to drive with its 4.8L V8 Engine producing 405hp but it's also had a ton of issues being a 16 year old luxury German sports car.

The problem with the bulbs on those cars is, you can't just put in a standard bulb, because they will not resolve the error codes. You have to have the original specified bulb as it has a chip and the car will verify it.

They seemed pretty affordable in Ukraine though. Mechanics are scamming people more than ever in the west. I just changed my own brake hoses for $20 of parts. Shop wanted $319. Good decision, Johnny. Your worst decision was to buy it in the first place, but as a formerly young man I understand. . . FYI, as someone else suggested, when you disconnect the battery on a car with OBD2 diagnostic computer (or later), your have to drive it for at least 100 miles with many on/off starts to clear all the fault codes that have accumulated. That pesky "Check Engine" light will keep coming on until you do so. . . By the way, I'm 76 and have owned a lot of cars (and did my own mechanic work for years) , including a '58 VW van, a "70 VW van (bought new), an '87 VW Vanagon (bought new which I still own and drive), an '86 Toyota HiLux pickup, a '97 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, a 2017 Subaru Outback (my daily driver now) and a 2006 Lexus RX400h (which my wife still drives). Adding all of those cars together I think they still don't total up to the insane 450 hp your Porshe had. Way more power and headaches and expense than needed and difficult and expensive to fix. My recommendation: Toyota Camry or Tacoma pickup or equivalent. Be well, my SF friend.

Congrats Johnny. I'm glad that this will be the last video about that pain in the ass Porsche. You have already spent more money on that Porsche at the mechanic's shops than I had spent for the lifetime of my 2012 Toyota RAV4. If your home wasn't in the two biggest cities in Ukraine, I would say, maybe you will need a car, but living in a city and being a car owner makes as much sense as living in San Francisco or New York and owning a car. Not only getting rid of the Porsche will save you on your money to the mechanics, but it will save you so much headaches and time wasted finding a mechanic, taking the car to the mechanic's shop, and waiting for the car to be fixed. So much of your time had already been wasted on that Porsche.

Johnny, in Ukraine, when cars are sold off-hand, there is almost always a bargain, and in most cases the sellers reduce the price a little. Therefore, in the case of buying a car from another person, even if no problems are found, you can also try to lower the price and with a high probability you will succeed. This is roughly how the secondary market for cars and real estate works. But, of course, it is necessary to negotiate the price directly with the seller, and not with an intermediary.

We have a 20 year old VW Passat diesel that sits around in an underground car park for most of the year and it works just fine. It has lovely leather seats, air con and all that good stuff, it cost buttons to buy, buttons to run and if something does go wrong we will throw it away and get another one so we don’t have all the hassle of trying to sell it.

Honda's are actually really expensive in Ukraine for some reason, and not that common. .

Since Ukraine actually has winters (you know, cold temperatures & snow & such), I'd say a Volvo would make a lot of sense. Even the blingy versions are practical & functional at their core, & coping with winter conditions is one of their core functions.🧐

Well done JohnnyFD! Time to move it on!
You did so much with it! I do remember when you came back from Thailand the roof had a fair dint from fallen debris & you using it on really rough roads when you volunteered with Repair Together. The rough roads when you went to the jungle spas & saunas. It's kept you going & you still are!
I donated to your 3 amigos campaign. Using a portion of your car sale is truly an honourable action!
Metro & Uber are perfectly sensible in Kyiv.
    Cheers!

You can find some Ukrainian TH-camrs who work with cars and you can sell your car to them for a reasonable price and also make a collaboration:
    Тачка в плюс
    Відкритий перекуп
Contact them and describe your situation, Im sure they can buy your Porsche for a better price
Ok, I see you sold it already
