Ideally, you are right, that would be best practice. However, as long as it is running continuously and the tubing does not come disconnected, it should be okay. I’m working with very limited space so I don’t have much of a choice. But again, if you have the option, best practice would be to have it higher up.

At 1:06, how are you able to keep the trident lower than the sump? I thought you're suppose to keep it higher so it doesn't create a siphon
