Clever interior door handles - that design encourages the use of the Dutch Reach to open the door. As for the speed limiter - that feature is probably not so important for US roads, but for European roads, it is a great feature.
I don't want to speak out of turn here. It's possible that some things work differently on this Countryman, compared to my 2017 Clubman. But the toggle switch arrangements look identical So, assuming the big red ignition switch in the center works the same way on both cars, it doesn't matter which direction you move it. If the engine is off, flip the switch up OR down to start it. If the engine is running, flip it up OR down to turn it off.
I have the Mini Cooper Countryman 2012 in deep rich green (all black leather package). It's a well-built automobile and manages like a dream. I've had no issues other than regular maintenance. The car seats fold down so I've plenty of room for my two dogs, travel luggage, and grocery trips; I think he forgot to mention that the car seats fold down in this video. The Mini Coopers have come a long way since 2012, as far as, technology, functionality, and the feel of the ride. They are modern, hip, on-trend, and built to last. There's a Cooper for just about any kind of lifestyle... And, if you take good care of your Cooper it will take care of you for about two hundred thousand miles! And, keep in mind, it's owned and made by BMW. Therefore, in my opinion, I think that's certainly cigar worthy. The Coopers are usually painted in elaborate and exciting colors, as coopers are often designed with racing stripes and all that jazz. So, understand, that he's showing a Mini Cooper Countryman 2022 'rental car' that has a lovely but plain paint job. But, concerning my Mini Cooper Countryman, BMW didn't make room for a spare tire. That's the only feature that I'm disappointed about. But, my deal comes with 24/7 roadside assistance, so I can get the help I need, if necessary. However, the newer versions of the Mini Cooper Countryman have accommodation for a spare tire, so that's no longer an issue. But, I'm not certain about the other models... So, ask the salesman and check for yourself as you tour the cars at the dealership if traveling with a spare tire is important to you.
I would recommend the base model if you are looking for slightly better fuel economy. The 3 cylinder is insanely slow, however fuel increases up to 3 or 4 mpg on highway and city. However, the S model does combined 26 mpg, sometimes i do better than that, depends on your driving.
You’re in the entry level model and it’s not a bargain car, it’s a premium car. I’m 6’2” and I have a Countryman S with more power. I run circles around everything on the hwy because it drives like a go cart. Get behind the wheel of a JCW and you’ll be satisfied…trust me.

I think the doorhandle opens this way, because you should use your right hand to open it. This way you automatically turn your view to the left and you won’t accidentally scoop up a car or bicycle with your door! 😅
Have the 2020 s model. I love it and would not buy any other vehicle. I just purchased a 2009 mini clubman in prestine condition 6 speed. Mini fan for life.
Hey Eric. I think the countryman is based on the BMW X1/X2 platform. I think one needs to get the john cooper deal to get the beans though. The 2L turbo 4 isn't spec'd like the BMWs normally.
OF COURSE! Lol. I’m so used to it, but you can option the car up to have it. This model just didn’t have it because it’s a rental and whoever spec’ed it didn’t add it.

Thank you for watching! Well, this is a great question. It all depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for uniqueness… you can’t do much better than the Countryman unless you make your way to a Tesla Model Y or even an Audi A6 Avant. Many factors have to be considered.

Yes, they are very comparable. Not sure why you think they aren't. The Mini is a much better made car in fit, finish, software and materials. The Mazda has a lot of complaints on the forums regarding the build quality and buggy software. The Mazda will give you more for your money...more problems.

Maybe 120mph, but if you get the S model or JCW it’ll be a bit faster. You wanna get rid of the Denali?! If you do, you’ll have to jump into a JCW. That would be the only equivalent.

Oh I bet it does! This car was rented from National Car Rental from the BDL airport in Connecticut, so I had to choose from what they had. If I had a choice, of course I’d get something with more power.
the problem is base model has nothing in it like nothing nothing. and a jcw is to expensive for what it is. it’s a great drive just odly priced for no features. i’m paying 500 a month for a 2023 base model. it’s the best deal I could do. bmw 228-330i is to high in price and other cars aren’t fun. and mini is just mini but it’s annoying nothing in it. but it’s fun to drive. next time I hope a jcw comes to price better on deals. I would love to see what a 300 hp mini feels like.
I have one! The Countryman S and I terrorize everything because it has close to 200hp! Plus Mini’s hold their value better than anything on the road except for a Jeep Wrangler.

Unfortunately it is the base engine, just with all-wheel drive. I didn’t have access to the S or JCW, but I’d love to test them out.

The reason the handles are like that is cause they want you to use your other hand to open so you get a better view before you open the door

This was rented from National Car Rental at the Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
Sharing, concerning the egress. With foreign/import automobiles. You simply reach over with opposite hand and simply pull door handle to egress.

My 2016 Countryman S goes 135 mph top Speed.
The JCW does 144 mph.
