1) either source and find the other trucks needed or 2) only take 2 of the loads, just because a shipper gives you 8 loads doesn't mean you have to take them all. Shippers respect brokers that are honest and upfront about your capabilities.
In reality the shipper does not need to sign anything but its smart to get them to submit and sign a credit application agreeing to your credit terms. Some people choose to require a shipper/broker contract but I never did and wouldn't today unless there were special circumstances surrounding a shipper that needed to be documented and agreed upon in writing.

Probably because he had direct shippers versus getting his freight through brokers. Believe it or not carriers can do business direct with shippers if they are willing to dedicate time and resources to selling their services. BUT most rely on brokers to find their freight.

I personally know Franklin and worked with him one on one during his startup. Trust me most of his business comes from one very larger shipper. No double brokering or cobrokering.
