The question I have yet to see answered is: Why was it so important that the band stop playing? Don’t they usually play until pretty much everyone has left? Am I that old that we don’t “play the crowd out” anymore?

These games have had a recent history of violence, which is why there is such a police presence there in the first place. The cops are there to disperse the crowd and make sure there are no fights or vandalism after the game. The band was giving people a reason to stick around on field and in the parking lot, which is where the trouble starts, and exactly what the officers are there to detur. If violence and damage weren't a problem, the officers wouldn't be there in the first place.

I saw the main clip, and keep asking, "why? Why? Why are they bothering him, when he's just doing his job?" Music means so much to me, and the kids too. So I became interested in this story.
I am waiting to hear what the excuse was for this action. What in the world is the reason for doing anything to this music director? Any of it. Why? Wasn't it arranged that they were going to do three songs afterwards? So why rush then to finish the song, or stop it Early, and why get crazy on the band and director? Why cut the lights off so quick? I don't understand why any of it happened. Why was there an issue? Bizarre!

Glad this man showed his students how to stand up to tyrants. So sad this garbage behavior has to recycle in current events every few years in Alabama. I've lived in Alabama my entire life and it hurts to say this but things like this aren't uncommon. Never have been.
This very moment, in parallel to this story, the supreme court for the SECOND TIME rejected congressional maps drawn by AL Republicans. These maps have been gerrymandered since before the 2020 election and 3 years later they still can't do their job properly. For 4 years now they have failed to do a simple job, not because it's hard, but because they are wicked evil souls always insisting on 2 steps back for every 3 steps forward.
This is EXACTLY why Alabama is and remains at the bottom of the barrel of national standards and civil rights. None of this is new. It's just sad and weak. Made worse by the always-present bottom of society clambering over each other to be first in line to carry that flag of injustice, bigotry, prejudice, and racism for the tyrants at the top.

But instead he chose to ignore the police who have the right to enforce the law. Just another self-absorbed, entitled black man that thinks the law no longer applies to him. You do know that the only reason there is a police presence there is because there is a history of violence after the games that the school can't control. That officer had a job to keep everyone safe by dispersing the crowd, which was meandering due to the bands still playing, this just gives opportunity for the trouble they are specifically there to stop. If these kids and parents could control themselves, the police wouldn't have been there in the first place. @@johndoe-ep7qk

The kids shouldn't have been brought into it, but they were BY YOU when you resisted. Maybe the arrest was unlawful and the courts drop the resisting charge, but YOU are still the one who decided to resist. The video they released didn't show what happened immediately before the arrest but it definitely showed YOU resisting instead of fighting the arrest in court. YOU most definitely do not deserve your job back.
