So... what was wrong with the kids playing music a few minutes after the football game outside at the football field and if you noticed the cheerleaders were still dancing and cheering. ITS A SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD... AND... AND... that was really a great and safe action for the well being of the kids on the field to CUT THE LIGHTS OFF not thinking that there easily could have been someone waiting to snatch up one of those kids in the dark. Kids easily could have fallen carrying band instruments down the bleachers. Then, to make matters worse, the police maced several of the students on the school bus getting ready to leave. The police are suppose to protect and serve, kind of hard for them to be doing that while harassing a band director and some kids playing music.. I hope that band director sues the sh!yte out of the police department and some police need to be fired. This is coming from an ex law enforcement officer with 16 yrs on the job.

Three hours ago I consulted a member of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association (a division of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE). She agreed that the proper procedure if asked to stop playing post game is to finish out the song and then begin the coordinated exit. People are completely missing the point. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP AND EXIT when it comes high school bands at football games. Moreover, she said that if an immediate exit is required due to an emergency all instruments and equipment are to be left behind. Then, once the stadium is deemed safe students and staff return into the stands to gather instruments and equipment.

The Band Director was a horrible example for those young people that night... hopefully he started acting right after jail. Whether or not he swung on an officer or not, he was not compliant and was aggressively physically resisting lawful orders from LEOs. No doubt that some of those students will hate cops because of this ignorant behavior and some might even put themselves in danger acting the same way one day. Hopefully he thought about it and acted like a man & mentor and took responsibility for his actions afterward or he shouldn't be in the school system any longer. The rule to not play after the game ended was a safety order. He chose to willingly defy that order and put the remaining attendees, including his band students in potential danger. Thee was more to it than some school administrator just wanting to go home ASAP after the game. He knew what he was doing and what he was doing was wrong to the point of at least a suspension from work. The chief responsibility of any school faculty member is the safety of the students. It would be interesting to hear why he willingly chose to do this, outside of TV coverage. He plays docile victim now. He caused all of it. We've seen this all before, shameful... just shameful.

@@leagarner3675I'm fine living here and am not worried about this happening to me. Americans with half a brain know you don't act this way when confronted by the police. It never ends well. You must have missed the recording on the bodycam footage where he swung at a cop, that doesn't sound non-violent to me. You also must have missed the part where other adults were having to hold him back because they knew he was in the wrong. This man previously resigned from a teaching position for losing his tempter in front of students among other things. He got what he deserved.

@@Lukenukem8732 The kids on the bus may have been maced too. And several were injured when they tried to get off the bus. One child had an asthma attack and one hit her head when she fell getting off.
