  • FLUSH OFFSET, POKE, STANCED CARS, STRETCHED TIRES, or FORGED WHEELS! You've heard these words, but what do they mean? I’m making this video since some people said they were confused when I mentioned these terms in my more recent videos. I didn’t just want to make some unorganized mass list, so instead I’ll separate each term video into a certain facet of car culture. This one will focus on FITMENT.
    Also I didn't upload in so long cause I was in Arizona on Vacation visiting my brother, Omni Rider. Also I tried to buy a Supercar...uhhh, it didn't work out. OOF.

    eliminating ground clearance would also help with ground effect? like in a track car

    • @BladedAngel
      @BladedAngel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      To a certain extent. Reducing ground clearance improves under body aero, but by the time you're laying frame with -20 camber, that's just for pure style.

    • @kelvinyonger8885
      @kelvinyonger8885 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maybe, but it'd be more efficient (if legal in series) to use a spoiler/diffuser since the path of the air would be smoother (and will probably be more efficient). But yeah if the car has like 12 inches of ground clearance lowering it will help with ground effect.

    Note on adding spacers and offset wheels;
    The car’s handling from factory is engineered around a very specific pivot point of where the wheel actually rotates (aka where the rotational point is mounted relative to the center of the wheel itself ). Adding spacers or extra offset wheels will change this point of rotation relative to wheel center - which may impact the handling of the car negatively. For most people this is more noticeable on track, but it is worthy a mention since it is easily overlooked, and can change responsiveness and stability while engaging/exiting a turn at speed.
    The best option is to get custom/aftermarket suspension setup so the wheel center rotation itself isn’t potentially compromised/left up to chance.

    • @Junecakie
      @Junecakie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the best option are illegal in most european country, you must have the authorisation from the automaker here for doing that XD

      If you added spacers and equally wider wheels would it even out somewhat? That's what I'm wondering.

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hunteraltman4762 It could potentially counteract it to an extend, if the wheels then are pushing in negatively just as much as the spacer extends it outwards. But on front wheels you don't necessarily want superwide wheels (depending on your setup and usecase), compared to the rear where you are often able to be more liberal with your size application because the wheels only have to rotate, they don't have to angle their direction.

  • @Dallasjcutler

Then you have the other people (one of the females who goes the clas for race mechanic) who has a smal Suzuki sj413 awesome car. And she has it raised. So diversity?? Well yes. But they only go 30km/h and are registered as tractors so they are all considered crazy if you ask me. And the stereo in them cost’s more then tha car. So if you ever visit Sweden go to Värmland. • @MidNightFreakOZ
    @MidNightFreakOZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Stance or negative camber originates from Japan, specifically the art of drifting. It was done, firstly yes to lower the car closer to the ground, secondly and more importantly to minimize the surface area of the tire touching tarmac thus requiring less effort to spin your wheels. So it does have a practical use ofc not if you have -10 that's just insane.

    • @derekwalker4622
      @derekwalker4622 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some negative camber will assist in racing, allowing a more aggressive cornering speed. It does come with a downside, as it will wear a tire faster. So, yes, it DOES have a practical use.

    • @devonesq.7533
      @devonesq.7533 ปีที่แล้ว

      -4 degrees is the limit you'll see on most racing cars, and they only use that much negative camber on tracks that have lots of hard corners.

    My tuning project had a significant amount of poke when my rims arrived but that wasn't on accident. I needed the wider rims and tires and I didn't know how much I had to driveway roll the fenders and also needed something to roll against.
    It took almost a week from when I got my rims on the gar until I had gathered enough friends to weigh the car down and rolled the fenders.
    That car was 100% function over form. Clear coat was peeling, fully stripped, cage, plastic rear doors, plastic boot, carbon hood, lexand windows everywhere but the front right and left windows for safety, carbon fiber buckets, 6 point harness etc, etc. That car was built for track day use and nothing more. It was horrible on the road and a dream on track
    Edit: pulled the fenders

    How come pulled hurts resale and flares/wide body don’t? You have to cut away your stock body in order to install wide body kits and fender flares.

    I will always hate spacers and heres why. When I bought my BRZ it came with spacers on the back. At first I didn't think that anything was wrong with them so I just kept them on there. Turns out my right back lugnuts were all so loose that my wheel almost fell off, I actually lost one. This was all caused by the fact that there wasn't enough thread for my lugnuts to go onto, so I took them off and I'll just get some bigger wheels.

    Gm usually does high positive offset on their cars. All of my caddies have high offset wheels and Almost flat faced wheels.

    I have a dumb question coming from the truck community. Are there sometimes rubbing issues with the fender when your wheels are flush?

    You’ve talked multiple times about reps and how “bad” they are etc etc etc so it does come off as gate keeping with the wheels. I’ve watched lot of your videos so far and you knocked reps quite a bit. I have reps on my 05 STS4 bbs rs reps and I’m so happy with them. I spent 1000 on them vs how much actual bbs rs would’ve cost me!! Yeah they aren’t as strong and whatever. But I don’t track the car and it doesn’t have really low profile tires on it. So they work for me. I really don’t like aftermarket wheels. I like keeping OEM wheels and just taking a higher trim or higher end models wheels. Like my OEM 05 STS4’s wheels where put on my deville. My 14 ats im just going to have my factory 18’s powder coated.

    Just a question. If my car is stances wouldn’t it be useful to have offset of my wheel so that the spokes are where the weight is? Like for a normal car you wouldn’t want it but because the edge is the only contact point would it be usefull
