    The Ioniq 5 actually reads speed signs including digital ones on highway. It also uses map data in addition and I currently don’t know if there are priorities of the map and a sign says different things. But while driving it will adapt to speed signs as expected :)

    I’ve had my Ionia 5 since February 2023 and yours is the first video I’ve seen going into all these features. I haven’t used half of them. My dealer certainly wasn’t familiar with them either. It will rake several views of your vid to learn all these features. Thanks so much.

      Thats because you need to enable everything manually, while german cars all do that automaticly with one single button. they call this driver assitance (much easier then Hyundai).

    I went from a 2022 Tesla M3LR to a 2024 Ioniq LTD AWD. I'm very happy with the Ioniq. MUCH better build quality, ride is better, auto lane change that isn't an extra $6k purchase (like Tesla) and no phantom braking. Also sooo much quieter at high speeds. Super nice EV. Thanks for the tips!

    I don't know about UK, but my Ioniq 5 clearly sees and reacts to digital road signs and temporary speed limits, and it occasionally does get confused by signs that don't belong to the lane it travels in.

      Yes same in Switzerland. If there is e.g. a construction on the highway it reads the speed limit sign and adapts speed accordingly.

      Interesting.
      We will keep an eye on it in the future in more detail.
      If it indeed does read the signs it seems to be a lot more composed than the VW ID family of cars which like to adjust the target speed for no apparent reason.

    I'm a geek, the reason I got mine was in no small part because I love learning and exploring new tech and then creatively implementing it into my life to make my life more efficient giving me more free time to spend on other things.
    For example I do work on my MacBook and video calls on the infotainment via android auto WhatsApp, I can get stuff done while sitting in the car in "relaxation mode" with a coffee whilst it charges at 11kw.
    Why such a slow charge? Because in Scotland those are £0.30 kWh, the 50-150kwh rapid chargers? £0.75-0.95 per kWh!! I don't have a home charger but I don't have kids or a wife either so it makes much more sense for me to spend 4-5 hours every 3-4 days with laptop and coffee as the I5 has V2L so not only can I charge my laptop but I can also pause charging to make a coffee with the Tassimo machine i keep in the boot! The machines milk pods mean no need for a fridge!
    I can go camping in the I5 easily with the V2L circuit providing all my electrical accessories charging needs, heavier stuff runs off V2L whilst smaller stuff like phones, kindles, earphones, even medical equipment can be charged off the front 180w cigarette lighter socket.
    People who run battery packs for lung pumps say for diseases like muscular atrophy can charge their li-ion battery whilst out and about! Think about that! I worked with someone who had muscular atrophy and if her battery got low we had to go home!
    There's so many uses for V2L! Power your house in a power cut! Hoovering the car? No need for extension! Going to lay laminate flooring for your sister? Power the bench saw from the V2L! Your mates EV ran out of charge at 2am stranding him? Go charge him up! Camping in the wilderness? Alcohol/butane stove for cooking and V2L for everything else! It's ideal!

    I'm impressed with this ADA system. It's much better than EAP in my Model 3 with its erratic, unpredictable "phantom braking," ping-ponging between lanes, red steering wheel alarms, merging paranoia.

    On my ioniq 5 71 plate MY22 it reads the road signs and will adjust the speed.

    Great video. I can’t help wondering how many people will even understand all these features, let alone figure out how to control them…

      Thank you and you are very correct.
      In the short-term, we try our best to educate our customers with these videos and proper handovers, but we do share your view that it can be A LOT of information to take in, especially when upgrading from an older vehicle which doesn't have any of these driver assistance features.
      Long-term, we think the knowledge of these systems will (hopefully) become part of driving courses, just like sat navs, as the role of drivers will definitely shift more towards vehicle "operators" as years go on.

    I just received my Ioniq 5 ultimate tech today and I cannot see or use the auto lane change. It's like I don't have HDA2. Do I have to update the software?

      You have probably found out by now but 2023 models only get HDA 1.5, annoyingly the Ioniq 6 does get HDA 2 go figure! so no lane change assist. The lane change assist is nothing special IMHO, you still have to initiate the lane change manually anyway and it only works with HDA enabled so of quite a limited use, the only other thing missing is some box shape blobs of other vehicles around you, interesting if not ultimately pointless. Your not missing out much TBH. BTW get my 5 AWD Tech Pack delivered in May :)
      I'm referencing UK spec's exclusively.

    30:08 I was so confused when I checked my mirrors then opened my car door and it warned me about oncoming traffic, looked down and it was a tiny bloke on his mobility scooter.

    Another very informative video although I think trying to understand all the ACC and lane control systems would give me brain overload. I was however disappointed to note the systems reliance upon GPS data without supplementing it with cameras. Being able to respond to speed restrictions through road works and from overhead motorway gantries is pretty important. You do though have to admire Hyundai for the thorough development of their systems and the sensible activation through buttons rather than through touch screen menus. I think the Ionic 5 strikes a better balance than either the minimalist Tesla approach or the clumsy and fiddly VW group thinking. One thing that you did not comment upon was the variable regenerative braking. Am I right I saying that by pulling the paddles you can bring the car to a complete or faster stop? Does it creep forward when brought to a stop? All in all a pretty impressive car and one I would favour over other crossovers in the same market segment - including the Model Y. I have it on good authority that the systems in the forthcoming second generation electric Hyundai Kona take the game on from the Ionic 5 and Kia EV6 so it looks as though the Koreans are setting a high bar for everyone else. Looking forward to a review of BMW’s latest efforts in the i4, i3x and i1x.

      The car comes to a complete stop when using iPedal once you take your foot off the accelerator pedal. This is the way I always drive, you’ll never need to touch the brake pedal, it’s true one-pedal driving.
      When using ACC it doesn’t matter which regen mode you’re using, once the car stops then the Ionic 5 will also stop.

      It isn't fully reliant on GPS data actually, the speed limit assistmis intelligent and automatically updates based off speed limit signs it reads!

      I got ioniq 5 ultimate 2023 model, mine is with hda 1.5 too.. did you manage to upgrade it to 2??

    One further question I should have asked is how easy is it to plot charging points once you have entered a destination beyond the car’s range. We all know that the Tesla vehicle SatNav integration with the Supercharger network is not such seamless but superlative. Will the Hyundai recommend stops on route to achieve maximum charging efficiency and is it possible to filter these by network?

      This is unfortunately quite clunky, so we would still recommend IONIQ 5 drivers to keep Zap-Map on their phones...

    Do you have any information on braking using the adaptive cruise control? does pressing the brake turn it off, does the car brake on its own (for example if there was an accident and traffic moved to a standstill, how much can I rely on the cruise control to brake for me?)
    Any information on this would be useful, I've yet to use the system so I want to know where the limits are

      if you hit the brakes ACC does disengage. it's a funny thing because depending on your level of regenerative braking, your car can dramatically slow down with even the slightest touch of the brakes. as far as emergency braking, that's another system anyway and will engage if you're in danger of crashing.

    So pitty the lane assistance and cruise control only works from 70KM/Hour, audi/skoda/volkswagen all enable these features from 30km/hour , which saveguards you even at lower speeds. Is there no way to change this in the computer? Why did they restrict this to only motorways? Volkswagen group is able to do it anywhere as long as you drive 30/km hour. I'm sure hyundai can do it, because when it is doing traffic assist it works at low speeds. Have you contacted Hyundai about this?

      Lane assistance is on by default and at lower speeds, it does work at lower speeds. You can also turn on auto steering at lower speeds by pushing a button.

    That’s if the autopilot works and also if it actually stays in the lane , it’s very poor, all the features you have mentioned on my 72 plate in uk have failed and I have only just got my car back after 10 weeks for the iccu failure and now have to give it back to get all the safety features fixed very poor

    HDA2 is good, unlike the GM version, the self-driving feature can be used on many secondary highways. Stop and go functionality is good too. Do I trust this system? Absolutely not. Many times it brakes way too late or won't brake for a stopped vehicle sitting at a stop lignt. A far cry from the Tesla system.

    Where is this guy? The review seems great and he is driving a right hand drive car but he has an accent which makes his english near impossible to understand. It took me a while to even realise that he was attempting to speak english.
