    As someone who's into engines and tools and machines and motorcycles its crazy to me that I found your channel because of your video where you keep a grocery store lobster as a pet. I said hey that's interesting and watched it and said huh he was talking about jellyfish and stuff too maybe ill see his other stuff, then I said wait he restores old dirtbikes too? What?

    I think it's good enough to have some shocks built for the back... 2" travel or so and you could set your ride height with them too. Economy, maybe $100 and custom probably $500.

    You should try fermented molasses to get any rust off of ferrous based parts. Had an old guy teach me this technique and it’s the best I’ve found. 10:1 Water to molasses. Let it ferment in a bucket and dip your parts for as long as you wish. The stinkier it gets the better it works!

    When I was a teenager I had a Honda MT50. It was a 1984 I think, or from around that year anyway. I normally rode it to school every day but in wintertime I replaced the rear shocks with ring-spanners to lower it so I could easily flat-foot it and ride it on the ice. I always thought it had great chopper-potential when looking at it in that lowered position and you just proved that. Great build and video, thanks for sharing. Say hi to Leon for me please.

    This is cool! I had a 1974 Suzuki TM125 i got bored and turned it into a drag bike, split the cases and changed the gearing on 1st and 2nd gear for quicker starts, it also ran on cox airplane fuel, (had some nitro methane in it), and had to drill out the carb main jet to get enough fuel to run it. It looked similar to your CR ratt rocket but more level with aluminum tubes for forks,no suspension and no rake on front end. Was pretty quick on 1/8th mi strip. But not so much on 1/4mi. Nice video!👍

    I'm one of those air cooled, carbureted, 2 stroke, twin shock snobs. None of that new garbage technology for me. To bad the frame was bent. That would bother me on anything but a beater dirt bike. I use Kroil as a penetrant. It's the best thing I've ever found. That's one of the worst engines I've ever seen. I use full strength muriatic acid to remove rust from steel and iron. It's to strong for aluminum and will destroy it. I have cut off a lot of old rotted tires. I have found that a lot of expensive special tools can be fabricated or improvised. You almost have to do that to avoid spending a fortune on special tools you will never need again. There are cases though where there is no substitute for the right tool. Love those old non CV Mikunis. I have 7 bikes, both street and dirt. I use a lot of that TruFuel as storage fuel. It's supposed to last 2 years, and won't gum up carburetors, and allows stored bikes to be started once in a while. Damned expensive at $20 a gallon though. But way cheaper than a new carburetor. Nice. To bad it isn't street legal. I would like to do something similar with an old 2 stroke dual sport bike with a VIN and a title.

At 53 this brings back great memories of having dirt bikes way back in those days and being young had to learn how to get by as most of us could not afford to spend crazy money like the one guy i knew who had a mom who spent a fortune on him to race even though he was not near as good a rider nor fit or strong enough to handle the 125cc he had when we were on 250 cc and 500's but hey he had a good time i guess as did we all.

    • @Bradybrandwood
      @Bradybrandwood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haaaaaa yeah,… the old school 2 stroke surge is a blast,… particularly on the asphalt. It really hooks up and goes! I’m always cautious though when first riding a new build. Who knows how it will go. Those are 40-year-old parts mostly. I don’t mess the springs at all. It has rubber bumpers, and the ride is nice.

    I’m not a bike guy...but I know about gravity. How do you fill the fuel tank?

    • @Bradybrandwood
      @Bradybrandwood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The angle will let me fill it 3/4 full. ✌️✌️✌️

    Ponytailzzz RULE. You get one yet ? I had an MR 250 Elsinore.1978 ??? It wasn't too hot (like my Suzy 250 screamer). BUT The MR was indeed a torque monster. I also had a fave called the CX500 way back. I think I put over 100K on the thing.Quicker than most could imagine.

      😅 It seriously covers the old frame rail very well. Goodbye needed some balance back there.

    excellent video!, beautiful job done. big respect for being up a respected 125 motocrosser from an important period in time, into something to be round of to reflect history and creation to be something to keep alive in someway....maybe do something completely different like rat rod, from this fast 125 2 stroke...excellent shit. fun, love and bravery and passion in motion. well done.

    This video inspired me to start a similar project on a 1984 xr100!
    But one thing: if you're painting parts to look cleaner, it's not a rat rod. This bike is cool but shes just a hot rod, nothing ratty about it :)

      😅 I did call it a Ratt Rocket though, not a Rat Rod. I hope your XR project turns out awesome!
