    I replaced the euro lock on our because you would have to play with the key before it would catch. The new euro lock has to be turn about 3 or 4 times before it locked or unlocked. Would I have to replace the whole multipoint system?

    My multipoint lock door is closed and something in the mechanism broke. Deadbolt is not locked just all the other multipoints are. Is there away to get this door open without taking an angle grinder to the locks? The door hand just flops around and doesn't do a thing.

    Thanks for this - good info. Our issue is the handle wont go up into the vertical position now to lock the door without a hefty whack with a wooden mallet. Could this be the internals (have you ever taken one apart to see if there is any lever wear) or could it be the other latch items in the sliders are now misaligned - its been installed about 15 years/. Thanks

    • @TheFriendlyCorgi
      @TheFriendlyCorgi ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on what you said. (Sorry for the 2 years later reply) it could be a plethora of things. Usually either the assembly or how things are dimensioned/toleranced by the engineers like myself. If you're still using the door is there a model/name of the company?

    • @paredding
      @paredding ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheFriendlyCorgi No worries. We had the original carpenter back and on inspection, one of the levers was broken so the lock was replaced. Thanks anyway

    My multipoint lock is working, but I"m going mad trying to buy handlesets for it. How do I tell if my Pella hinged door uses American or Euro ?

  • @morganbryan5890
    @morganbryan5890 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. Question, if you pull the lever up, release it and the locks flip back into the door (i.e. don't stay extended), is that an actuator issue? I can get the locks to stay engaged if I keep the lever/handle up and turn the lock cylinder with some slight force. Many thanks in advance.

    • @AllAboutDoorsandWindows
      @AllAboutDoorsandWindows  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would guess that it's more something internally -- springs or whatnot-- that are worn out from use. If you're having those kinds of issues, I would consider replacing it repairing soon, though, before it gets stuck and you need to drill it out :/

  • @alf1442

      Could you even drill out holes for traditional dead bolt and handle/knob?

    • @AllAboutDoorsandWindows
      @AllAboutDoorsandWindows  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you can. You'll just need to fill the routed-out edge of the door with something or another plate or whatnot.

    I love that these locks are super secure and run right down the length of the door, but then there's a full glass pane on the door right next to it.

    • @AllAboutDoorsandWindows
      @AllAboutDoorsandWindows  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yep. They are very stable though and apt for high wind areas, like on the coast. Keeps your door from warping within the frame because it's held securely in multiple spots instead of just in the middle at the deadbolt.

    • @AllAboutDoorsandWindows
      @AllAboutDoorsandWindows  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you make sure that the cam on the cylinder is facing down? That will keep you from being able to just pull it out. If it is a 360 degree cylinder, you should be able to just turn it until it slides out. If it is a 90 degree, there is a tool you need to use to release the cam so it can be moved to point downwards.
