I have been residing in the USA for over 10 years and currently hold a Green Card. I work in a mid-level management position at a leading technology firm. If you were to ask me in 2024+, I strongly advise against coming to the USA for a career in computer science/IT. Job opportunities are increasingly shifting towards India, particularly in offshore positions. Currently, there are graduates from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley seeking employment in the USA, leading to intense competition. Additionally, an interesting observation is that my American boss has offered me a promotion if I recruit individuals in India and form a team based there, as it offers a significantly better return on investment.
Is it ok to come if I get admission in the teir 1 universities? What are the kind of salaries to expect, to understand the return on investment of this v v expensive education?
Tbh, university ranking really does not matter here in USA. If you have the skills required for a job, you will easily land a job (depending on the market situation). 80k-120k USD is an average salary is what you can expect irrespective of other factors.

Life in USA is a struggle not only professionally in all ways.If u have a good job in India think twice before coming here.I am here for 15 years always thinking if it was wise coming here.
In What field do you work in?
Hi, I would like to connect with you since I am also planning for the same. Can you please provide your mail id? Thank you
AFAIK foreign students are only allowed to work on campus in the US that does not displace an LPR or a citizen so why are you talking about the overall job market there as if you even have a right to apply outside of this restriction?
