No, the movie didn't portray him as something he's not. It very early on showed he had issues learning and no one took the time to address them. Having worked in and helping in the education system, learning disabilities go unrecognized until someone WANTS to deal with it. The movie even shows he just needed to be taught a different way in order to learn - which is true for all people. Never did it show he was stupid, which he's claimed for a while. What we'll get to in the end of this is that Michael Oher is at a place in his life where he's redefining his history and has been influenced in a way that makes him question how things went down. The real fact of the matter: if someone hadn't helped him at a young age, he'd either be dead or stocking shelves at Home Depot.

All of the falsehoods we are aware of were told by the Tuoys. Adult adoption WAS an option. Conservatorships are meant for those with severe limitations, and provide zero familial status to the conservatee - ALL of which the Tuoys lied about.
Their story about the amount of the movie and book proceeds has changed about 5 times since this news came out.
The Tuoys did not file ANY of the annual accountings of the handling of Oher's finances mandated by the court.
The lawyer Micheal had is so close to the Tuoys, Micheal was told to call her"Aunt Debbie". In the court proceedings for the conservatorship, Aunt Debbie waived Michael's right to a court-appointed, independent advocate who would have operated in his interest and make sure he understood the legal ramifications. Pretty shady.
Michael apparently went to them privately and asked them to make things right. They told him to kick rocks, so he filed the petition demanding an end to the conservatorship and a full accounting of funds. They PUBLICLY accused him of a shakedown.
Leigh Ann has made her whole identity as The White Lady Who Adopted a Black Teen and Turned Him Into a Linesman, which she knew to be false. She has created a whole cottage industry for herself based on these lies.
More info may come out, and Michael may not be guessing the right dollar amount, but so far the Tuoys have the bulk of explaining to do.

Actual adult adoption was available to them, BUT THEY CHOSE TO TAKE AWAY HIS RIGHTS RATHER THAN WELCOME HIM INTO THE FAMILY, ALL WHILE CONSTANTLY LYING IN PUBLIC ABOUT IT. It was not REQUIRED by the NCAA that Michael be stripped of his legal rights. Even there, the Tuoys ADMIT trying to GET AROUND THE RULES prohibiting Boosters from financially manipulating prospects to benefit their beloved alma mater. Michael had scholarship offers from more prominent college programs than 3rd rate Ole Miss from which he would have benefitted more. And the Tuoys DID NOT PAY HIS COLLEGE TUITION. I guess in all your "personal research" you missed the part about what a SCHOLARSHIP IS.
Each of the Tuoys were represented by a high-powered talent agency in the movie negotiations, while sticking Michael with their close attorney friend they told Michael to call Ain't Debbie. She is the same lawyer who handled his part of the conservatorship, wherein she waved Michael's right to an independent ad litum advocate who would have looked out for his interests and made sure he understood the ramifications.
Leigh Ann has made a cottage industry of the lies she told about herself and Michael ever since. The Tuoys have made numerous conflicting claims about the amount they made off of Michael's story, and have failed to file a single annual accounting of his finances as required by the court.

They were literally boosters at Ole Miss lol. If Michael had been on the Robotics team the Tuoy's probably would not have extended the invite for him to crash lol. That dynamic is likely the biggest mis-portrayal from the movie because it shifted the ownership of everything Michael had ever worked hard for on his own, and gave all the credit to the Tuoy's. These court filings defy what we know. Michael Oher is claiming this all started in February 2023, but there's been talk that the relationship between Oher and the Tuohys has been deteriorating for years, so why is that? Also, Oher admitted he knew there was a conservatorship in place at least as far back as 2011, when he acknowledges it in his book.
If Sean Tuohy can prove Oher was trying to shake them down a few years ago, Oher is toast.

The reason why he waited so long was simply that at the time the conservatorship was entered into, he loved and trusted the Tuohys and he believed what they told him, that this whole thing was equivalent to an adoption. Precisely because of that reason, he also did not question what he signed or look more deeply into the papers; he did not dream that he had been hoddwinked, not by these people. He probably thought it would be cruel and ungrateful to question. And he did not dare question it for a long time afterwards for the same reason. He probably thought he was being taken in for himself, the whole person, but it's very doubtful he would have been taken in by them if not for his football talent. They may not have ripped him off for his money (so far there does not seem to be an indication for that) but they certainly used him to enhance their prestige with their old alma mater, for which he had been playing.

It should not be surprising that NBC didn't even bother to get the other side of the story, but instead ran with it to get clicks or push a narrative.
    1. The Tuohy's COULDNT adopt him as he was 18 when he signed into conservatorship.
    2. His MOTHER was there during the signing
    3. The PRIMARY reason the Tuohy's did this was because the NCAA wouldn't allow Oher to play without an adult or family authority.
    4. The Movie wasn't BASED on a script by the Tuohy's, but a book by a different author. The Tuohy family members each receive $14,000 apiece from the production studio, and according to Mr. Tuohy, Michael himself was paid the SAME $14,000 as everyone else.

The book was a more general evolution of Offensive Football book, that also told Oher’s story, based on Lewis’ research.
While I’m sure the Tuchy family was compensated, Michael Lewis’ Book rights were purchased and adapted.
There’s many different ways these licensing rights could be divided up?
Also, when and who told the original lie?
Was it to the guy writing a book on “Offensive Football”?
Did the author misunderstand or take creative liberties with details in the story?

The man that played Michael said he only met the real Michael one time. I think he said 2 yrs after they started filming. He doesn’t like being portrayed as being uneducated. How many people have a tutor move near their college and tutor them throughout their entire 4 years?? Actually what I don’t understand is why Michael wasn’t arrested for trying to extort 15 million dollars or he would publicly bad mouth the Tuohy’s. What’s up with that?? His first book mentions conservatorship 3xx. He’s had agents n lawyers throughout his career SO WHY ALL THIS NOW?? Because his first book was a flop?? His 2nd book coincidentally comes out the same time these BS allegations does. When things don’t make sense it’s because they’re not true.

He started emailing his “family” first for 10 million. Then said in the next email that the price went up to 15 million “or else I’m going g to tell the whole world blah, blah, blah….” It sounds like extortion to me.
When you get 37 million bucks in 8 years, someone should have told him he had to make that last for the rest of his life. To make 37 million in your career, most people would have to make a million dollar salary for 30 years of work. But a person can live very comfortably just making a total of 4.5 million in 30 years and retire or $150,000 per year. The average American will make 1.5 million dollars in 30 years.

However, there may have existed rules in 2005 that forbade alum acting as agents for a university in recruiting student athletes who are not part of their family.
