this was actually a quick guide to good basic skills in any kind of photography :) which is great! really concise without a lot of unnecessary jargon. thank you for uploading this!
I've never heard anyone so eloquently and simply explain camera settings in my life! i wish they'd been that concise and useful in my photography alevel! nice work guys x
I've been following Izy's blog for a long time and it still baffles me at how much she has accomplished at such a young age! What an amazing person to look up to :)
Sorted has become my favourite food channel in the short time I've watched it (A friend introduced me about a month ago). This is the video I've been waiting for, among all your other great content. Thank you!
Love this video! I remember when Barry shared a few tips in his made personal video and at the time I had yet understand that food photography is actually a thing. I was intrigued by what he had to say and began to experiment with it and how fallen completely in love.
SORTED Food this video was very helpful. I'm getting into the food photography world and I'm still learning and I have to say she does a great job and these tips could really help.
Very strong strong workphlo here. I'd love to see How to photograph wine bottles or how to photograph cosmetic products. Or even simple speedlight product photography!
I am predominantly a landscape photographer but have been asked to do a food shoot for a friend opening a bistro. As this is new territory for me I found the video very useful, thank you !
AHH thank you soo much! This was super helpful! Food is the exam topic I decided to choose for my Photography GCSE and I've never been good with the camera! Thank you Izzy for helping clueless people like me! :D
Oh this was so informative!! I don't know why I don't know this stuff seeing as the terms are quite common but I honestly didn't know what they meant before this video... THANKS!!
i was literally just talking about food photos with my friend and this video conveniently popped up in my subscription list! i hope i succeed with these tips :p thanks for the very insightful video!
Lovely video. It's very educational and well explained. Best tips video I've ever seen. Beautiful pictures as well. I'll be sure to take notes of her recommendations. Thanks so much for this video. :)
Nice video, happy to hear your opinion about the natural light, I've always been a fan of that :D But what about your preferred focal length? 60mm, 85mm? Macro or not. It all makes a huge difference on the aperture settings and how we perceive DOF.
Stormskythe Someone said she was using a 35mm in the view and that it was a Canon, if that helps? I'm not a food photog, so that's all I got, sorry. ^^;
Really like your work. I have a problem getting the entire muffins in focus at 25-45 degrees. I am using one shot, one point AF, spot metering. F4.6 to f11, low shutter speed 1/30 or less. I am using tripod, 50 mm or 100 mm Marco. I just couldn’t get the whole muffin in focus. Only a small area like toppings where the green focus box landed is in focus. What have I done wrong? Can you give me a tips? Thanks!
I'm getting a DSLR soon can't wait I remember I got a C in food photography at school I'm hoping to build a portfolio up and I'm also going to setup my own website
Please answer me! Are you coming to Singapore! I'll do whatever it takes to see you live! I started cooking passionately thanks to your videos. Please reply ben
nice effort.... but your instruction is for very beginner people. i would like to see the second part of this vid. want to know more about color psychology and frame composition for food photography
Thanks for nice tips, i just have one questions and really annoying me when am taking food pictures from above, first i like to using a tripod always to keep photos very sharp, but the problem is the lens zoom keep slips :S is there any solution for that ?? P.S. am using 24-105 canon
Hii I have a question:) If I want to take a top down angle photo, but my lighting source is at the top of me, how can I take the picture? Because whenever I do so, my shadow would appear on the object I'm shooting :(
+Brittney Hearts Ideally you want to get something to diffuse the light, the same as Izy talks about. A sheet would work, just don't have it too close to the light!
Why would you have the light above?? Get that light on either side of what you are shooting, that way you create texture. If the light is directly above you its going to look flat and boring.
I usually take pics of food at night mainly because it's the only time I have to cook (I'm not gonna cook dinner at 12 pm for a picture). I have artificial light that I diffuse with a bed sheet as well as some white cardboard behind the food in order to bounce some light back on the subject. It's the poor mans set up but it works.

Key to food photo success: NATURAL LIGHT
What camera lens do you use?
+LoveHealthOK She uses a 34mm f/1.4 :)
They asked "What camera Lens" not what camera didn't you read the question?
Does there answer, annoy you?
looks like a 34mm and 1:1.4. I was trying to get a good look at 3:49. Maybe you'll have better luck :)
