I love your formula with the cute outtake at the beginning, your logo and mini portfolio over music, your cute greeting, your very tasteful but not pushy reminder that subscribing is an option, and your little cup. It makes the whole thing feel very conversational and natural. Great content, really.

It's a whole different ball park and your videos have been so helpful for someone like me. I doubt you'll see this but you're fantastic. Your enthusiasm makes it less intimidating and more exciting to take on. keep on keepin on!

Joanie, this was a great video. I love your style of teaching and how you explain things. I am an experienced photographer (with gear) that is just now moving into food photography. As you said in one of your vids, I know enough to get a job, but I also don't know what I don't know. The intricacies of the food genre are what I don't know, so thank you for giving me a jump start on my food photography journey.

I can't express how much I love this video. Your pacing is so good so I don't miss any information you provide in this video. Food photography is the one thing I struggle so much in the photography world. Like I'm struggling on how to control the lights, camera settings, especially aperture. I have fast lenses although I'm only shooting on an APS-C camera body. I know it's not all, but I think the aperture settings is what I'm struggling with the most. And finding this video hopefully will improve at least a bit of my food photography skill, not only on dark food photography, but in overall food photography. So, thank you very much!

Just got started watching your channel and I'm loving it!
I don't know if you started doing this in your later videos, but I am a very visual learner (as well as tactile), and something that would help me is to see a side-by-side of the before editing and after editing photos after the editing process. Some of those changes were very subtle to my untrained eye, and I believe that the comparison would help. :)

Thanks so much for this video! I only shoot food for fun, but this actually really helped me with my professional photography that pays the bills. Seeing how you built your set & controlled your lighting was so instructional, and my very next shoot on black was so much better after watching this; much cleaner background and softer lighting on my subject. Judging by comments you've gone from ~6K subs to 30K in 3 months and I'm not the least bit surprised - you deserve them all!

Awsome vid Joanie. Love the way you guy's in the US hack up foam core, for flags and bounce cards. Here in Australia this is cringe worthy, foam core costs the same as a soft box LOL. Not quite but $22.00 per A3 is the norm. After watching this twice it had me heading straight to the shooting table. Thank's for your efforts.

This was awsome and very well explained with all your thought process. I really appreciated that 😁 If I could just suggest something; I found it difficult to follow and really get in the picture while you were editing because you were changing the view from the computer and back to you constantly, maybe you could use the space of the navigator window inside lightroom to insert your frame and give more time to the screen with you in it, and only take us out to you alone for in depth explanations of your edit. That way I think it would have a very fluid effect on the viewer but more importantly, would give us time to appreciate and understand the changes in the edit you just made. Nonetheless, you have an awsome way of explaining. Thank you! And cheers from Mexico!

Maybe a little off topic, but could you tell me a little more about the wood base you used?
