I love the fact that our hunter was clearing out the entire Ancient Forest during the Leshen fight, which means warding off at minimum the Raths, and possibly up to Kushala Daora
Indeed. It was a simple yet excellent balance of giving Geralt his time to shine without overshadowing your actual character - going too far either way would have left Witcher fans or Monster Hunter fans feeling snubbed. It also made me personally happy as that is exactly the role I have taken in Monster Hunter co-op with my earlier-game friends - they would hunt the main monster, I would hunt whatever else was on the map unless called for.
Not gonna lie... Lunastra was the monster in the original MHW that I went 'yeah I think I'm done'. Then when Iceborne came out, I got myself Master Rank gear, returned and just steamrolled through those missions. :D I regret nothing.
I remember thinking that the Anginath was the hardest monster ever and then when I returned after Iceborn came out and got The clutch claw made it so much easier.
I love the little detail that the whole reason Geralt is free to just explore the Ancient Forest is our Hunter is running perimeter work driving off anything that even LOOKS at the Ancient Forest.
I just recently completed MHW base game and had NO idea that they did a collab with The Witcher. And as a massive Witcher fan I was just like "wait.. is that a fucking nekker?" And then Geralt popped out of a portal and I fucking squealed as a grown man 😂😂
Strangely, this quest, along with finding out she cooks for you in the middle of quests, turned my opinion on the Handler from complete indifference to "you know what, you ain't so bad" Hearing her describe my hunter the way she did really brightened my mood while I was struggling to 100% the quest. I just felt so honored and flattered
Actually something funny about monster Hunter world is about the Witcher side mission. when you're playing as The Witcher guy you're talking to the NPCs of monster Hunter world and they're telling you things about your mission but also that your current character is keeping the other large monsters at bay while you figure out the mystery, so I always imagined you calmly and peacefully following tracks while your character is fighting hundreds of large monsters while doom music is playing. And it's just cutting back and forth from you peacefully gathering tracks or talking to an NPC and then switching back to your Hunter brutally fighting multiple large monsters at once.
The balloons tower defense collab would just be a bunch of paolumus with different colors and sizes floating from like a certain spawn on the map and you have to stop them from reaching your home camp with just a bow or something idk lol
@@BrookD.Artist I think it's a dig at the fact that like every single subspecies in rise except 1 was a fire version of the original monster, something he complained about a lot in rise (Blood orange bishaten, magma almudron, Pyre rankna kadaki who is ALREADY A FIRE MONSTER, flaming espinas, ect)

So, I caught up on this series yesterday, and in one of the episodes you mentioned how you never felt powerful in Rise, and that got me thinking, part of the reason for that might be a very subtle part of the in game storytelling. In World the speech at the beginning mentions that we are the best of the best, presumably this is also true of the fleets preceding ours, and yet the strongest hunter there uses Rath gear, and while he does step up to elder dragons, he gets wrecked almost immediately every time. This makes our Hunter seem stronger by comparison, cause we beat all of these challenges. However in Rise we are the only active Hunter in Kamura, we have no one to actually compare too, and when you reach Sunbreak you have the companion quests which let you bring the NPCs to help with anything in the game, and while I like this feature it also makes so that your hunter is no longer special, instead your hunter was the hero of some hick town and was basically able to keep up as soon you met other hunters, rather than the other games where you blow past all the other NPCs in terms of what you can deal with.
@@blackmantis1511 no it really ain't that deep, I was specifically talking about how animations in rise don't feel weighty, and it's something slower combat excels at
That's probably due to the reduced lag and impact frames when hitting monsters in Rise. In world, your weapons get stuck on the monster for longer when hitting weakspots with accompanying satisfying sound. While in Rise, weapons glide through monster parts with way lesser lag frames and less meaty noises.
MHFU is another game in the series where you are the only hunter active in the village yet you do not feel less accomplished as a hunter. I think the reason why is that the senior in the village is a retired hunter that failed to kill a monster and suffered serious injuries and later on we get to slay the monster and get revenge for him.
