    Hi and thanks for the video. If I understand correctly front hip is h/4-3/4, and the back is same h/4-3/4(overlap) but extends by 3/4, meaning the back is h/4. Combining the total front and back waist you get 2x(h/4-3/4)+2xh/4 which equals h-1.75. The hip will be 1.75 less. Is this not a mistake

      The back is hip divided by 4 plus 3/4 inch. When you add the front and back measurements you should get the total hip measurement.

    It would help if you mentioned the half-inch seam allowance to be attributed on the fabric at the waistline when transferring the pattern to the fabric.

    I really loved this tutorial but shouldn’t the 3/4 removed from the front be added to the 12 3/4 in the back such that the original hip measurement of 51 is achieved?

    • @otyscouture
      @otyscouture  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It must be added that is what i did. On the hip measurements only.

    • @Nuliqa
      @Nuliqa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The measurement for the back pattern is short by 3/4 ". Back hip line measurement should have been 12 3/4" plus the 3/4" taken away from the front pattern.

      If you noticed any error pls correct it when drafting yours. The idea is to show us how to achieve a protruding buttocks for the back bodice of a skirt or a gown with zipper. Thanks!

    Thanks for the tutorial but I'll like to bring to yr notice that your hip measurement is not complete. You ought to measure the normal 12.75 for the back piece before adding the 0.75 at the zipper side. Pls check again. Thanks

      @@otyscouture ok. I made a skirt and a pair of pants and the fabric “grew” as the day went on. It was much looser on me at the end of the day.

    If I'm making six piece or Aline how do I go about it
    Cos at d heming or d vent u mark 2inches

    • @otyscouture
      @otyscouture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For six pieces skirt you'll not use the covered slit method, whatever measurements u use for ur zipper allowance just measure it from the waist to the hem straight down.

  • @AwalaOlubankeAnike
    @AwalaOlubankeAnike หลายเดือนก่อน

    The measurements of this skirt hip will not be equal to 51
    If the front is 24,the back should be 27.
    Please calculate that for me
    Well-done

    If i want to use elastic waistband,do i have to use my 1/4hip minus 3/4"as my waist and hip measurements

  • @level2456
    @level2456 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. If you also have bodice pattern, can you join them directly and form a dress. Or will you need adjustments on the waist?

    • @otyscouture
      @otyscouture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you will need adjustment on d waist. The bodice waist with the skirt waist must be d same so that it can fit each other when sewing.

    • @level2456
      @level2456 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. My concern is that pencil skirt patterns curve down to centre front and CB. Whereas bodice blocks aren't, in particular the back pattern.

    Each time am drafting a pencil skirt for a plus size person d back will be shorter than the front, what could be the cause

    • @otyscouture
      @otyscouture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it's because of the buttocks at the back. There's a way u can go about it, buy increasing the length at the back bodice with either 1"or 1.5".

    • @otyscouture
      @otyscouture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll not use this covered slit method. Just measure ur zipper allowance from the waist straight down to the hem.
