I like the sentiment, but to put things in perspective, the absolute best casescenario would be ~ $300 per homeless person, which would be substantial and helpful.
But more realistically, a huge fraction of those funds would be spent creating a national task force to allocate the funds, track expenditures, and self audit. If the net benefit was over $50 per homeless person, I'd be shocked. While the pier ultimately failed, the delivery of aid through it very realistically had a life saving affect for some people.
Imo, it was clearly a flawed design, but the intentions were promising.

° The IIOC wants to be bribed. The IIOC puts people like Avery Brundage in charge. The IIOC urges and cities participate in stealing from aid for the poor to fund construction that is often soon unused.
° I was in High School when the Americans won the Gold in Hockey and it was exciting but disappointing as well. So many have used that event for super nationalism instead of just a little pride and a chance to learn a little bit about Hockey if they didn't know before.
° I saw an excellent, foreign female downhill skier get just one quarter of the screen. Advertising got a full half, a camera searching for the event hosts got the last quarter.
° Olympic coverage on the USA network(s) used to show excellent athleticism. Now it only shows US athletes in events that they are expected to win. Michael Phelps came in second in that last "Gold Medal" swim race. It was CLEARLY the fact. So much so that the underwater camera footage was cropped and zoomed to take the actual winner out of the frame, he was in the Lane right next to Phelps. Phelps should have surrendered that last Gold Medal. He would have tied Mark (gay doncha know) Spitz in number of Gold Medals but kept his dignity.
Speaking of sex, that's all that the athletes want to do with each other. Too bad many coaches and doctors want to get in on that, despite being unwelcomed.
Shame on the politicians, Republicans and Democrats, who support this GENOCIDE and the apartheid regime that’s doing it, and the regime in Washington D.C. that supplies it and gives it political support!
