    Present football Ch.sysyem is rubbish and unfair.
    Too much advantage to Dublin and Kerry guaranteed progression to All Ireland final quarter finals from easy provincial championships.
    As was with GPA proposal two years ago was that provincial championships played earlier in year as a stand alone competition. That would be the proper way.
    All-Ireland football Ch. top 16 teams from how teams done in national football league.
    Four groups of four, top two each group into quarter finals. That is fair to all teams, no team getting any advantage.
    Other 16 teams go into Tailteann Cup from Div 3 and Div 4.

      Yes, and bring back our original medals of 1910 they should never change medal that are part of our cups and part of our history . The change was in 2008 This was madness by GAA so they could become corporation to suit queen visit to croker they even put UK soil on hollowed turf of cooker all just before Quen visit either prince Charles ?????all for her so is GAA a irish sport now realy with fake medals give out by them dubs got 6 fake medals 6 years of it kerry has 2 years fake medals so on

    Don't really agree with this but good to see GAA related content on YT. New format rewards either a strong league or provincial run. With provinces getting the privileged position of deciding your seeding. If you had a bad league the provincial semi final becomes a massive match. Some tweaks needed such as only top 2 from the groups progressing and previous years Tailteann Champs being guaranteed a spot but other that that I think it's a format with a lot of promise.

      With a few tweaks it could work! Just dont think group stages will work at intercounty level but im open to be proven wrong!

    Could peotentially see another Leinster team win the Leinster Championship now, winning the Leinster has no real meaning to Dublin now as they should always qualify based on league position anyway, perhaps they rest a lot of players to prepare for the group stages and further in the all Ireland and it allows for a Meath or Kildare to win Leinster .

  • @alankenny21
    @alankenny21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dono why it's top 3. Top 2 is fine and then schedule games so second round of games is winner v winner and loser v loser so 3rd round of games are not dead rubbers. All these changes are really done to give the bigger counties more chances to get to later stages as more money for GAA. Just like Champions league changes in a couple of years. Additionally, with the current cost of living which will extend into next year, having more games is not the best idea at this time

    One of my biggest issues with the structure is that each team play each other 3 times in the groups. Personally I think that’s too much.

    I would put the provincial finalists into a group phase of two groups of 4 much like super 8s. That way the provincial championships have far more value. I'd even go as far as to say provincial winners ONLY. That way it has way more value. Maybe someone like Kildare or Laois will challenge us to stop us winning 13 leinsters in a row idk.

  • @MikeyJMJ

    The history of the Championship was built on the provincials, now they're reducing it to a side show.
    I didn't see any major issue with this year's structure. Maybe could do with a little tweak here and there but overall I thought it was a success, especially the Tailteann.

    I respect your opinion man but I have to say that your main argument against this proposal (that being provincial championships are now meaningless more or less) is just completely false in my opinion. Take Derry winning Ulster last year, if you saw the scenes after the final and all the Derry fans swarmed the pitch, to me, that definitely didn't look meaningless and I would also find it hard to believe that when Derry did win that final against Donegal, I highly doubt that they were celebrating a guaranteed spot in the All Ireland Quarters. They were celebrating winning a provincial championship for what it was. Now look, the Ulster championship can be seen as a million miles away from the Leinster or Munster but you made the point that the provincial winners should be given a guaranteed spot in the quarter and then drive on with the group stages however to me that sounds like a disadvantage. To me that sounds like the prize for winning out your province means a possible 1-2 month wait until you play another game. Look, they're just some of my thoughts but I cant agree with everything you said. Keep up the great vids!

    • @GaelicGamesFanTV
      @GaelicGamesFanTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It didnt look meaningless because of what the Championship means to them and every county competing in it. If the format stays the same then in 5-10 years it will slowly creep into meaning nothing, big teams wont field their strongest teams and crowds will diminish as a result. We will see what happens I hope im wrong I will still get behind it either way 👍

    Well done to cork and Clare for getting to the quarter finals but their performances in them were poor and I’d love for quarter finals to more competive like galway and Armagh so I think the round robin will be a good filter for more determined teams to go through. I think the provincial system is kinda a joke like in 2020 galway we’re literally in the Connacht final by default meanwhile a team in Ulster like cavan might have to play four teams to get to the Ulster final to then progress . So I think teams being in the same position to win sam is better. Also it’s not like proposal B were the provincial is completely irrelevant its still there like if a team like Westmeath wants to try and win it but it will be interesting because we know their going to be in the sam magurie but would a division 2/3 team miss out. But I would agree three teams progressing is stupid it should be one to semis or two to quarters

      why were Galway literally in the Connacht final by default they beat Mayo in Castlebar the first round . played Sligo 2 round beat Roscommon in Connacht final there 3 division 1 teams in Connacht how many from Munster .Leinster ECT

      @@reggiperry1366no I double checked in 2020 they were directly in the Connacht final. if sligo were there they would have a semi but still it’s dumb. I’m not sure if you meant Leinster and Munster are dominated by Dublin and Kerry which if so is also a good point

      Same as this year just three extra group games and one could be a dead rubber

  • @nigefal

    Aaron normally talks a sense. But not this time. Seems delusional on provincial championships. Ulster overall is poor because they all play similar tactics. Also Connacht is nearly always Galway/Mayo. The less said about Leinster and Munster the better. Hopefully it will eventually mean the end of archaic provincial systems. I agree on the group stages but at least it looks like the gradual phasing out of the provincial system has begun. Dead rubber matches where teams can play with freedom/experiment are preferable to the seen it all before provincial system of a bygone age.

    • @JohnMiller-bc6bi
      @JohnMiller-bc6bi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody wants dead rubber matches in championship football. The players themselves would prefer to go back to their clubs than play in those pointless matches.

    • @nigefal
      @nigefal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnMiller-bc6bi Would they be any less pointless than the provincial championship games? I was at dead rubber games Super 8's. They were great days out, players could be tried out and so on. The atmosphere was cordial. Future top players made their championship debuts in nice weather pressure free. To me the provincials are a pretence of something important, far worse than a dead rubber group match IMO.

    • @JohnMiller-bc6bi
      @JohnMiller-bc6bi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nigefal provincial games at least are bridge on to something else. Dead rubbers is not the way forward for the football championship

    • @GaelicGamesFanTV
      @GaelicGamesFanTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is that there is no link between provincials & the Championship. Imagine if one year Longford won Leinster or Clare won Munster and they get nothing for it, only a seed in the group stage to avoid other provincial winners. Provincial winners should get automatic buy in to quarters & the rest then group stages if needed. A lot of the "weaker" counties arent going to take the provincials serious at all because why should they & then to add insult to injury your going to have some teams make the last 12 who could lose in the provincial opening round and finish third in the group stage. Just doesn't make sense imo

    • @emerald9049
      @emerald9049 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they might be less dead rubbers as going into the last round of games teams are either competing to win group to get a bye to quarter finals or playing to avoid coming 4th so they get into the quarter final qualifiers or what ever they call first knockout round.
