Extractor AI is one of my FAVORITE breakthroughs. Finding it early means you can get your metals up and going before you even HAVE a dome. And it means you can just about throw your domes anywhere that makes more sense. Seriously lucky.
If you get proper tech tree... its easy... and if you don't get them... good luck waiting for them for hours because its completely pointless without them...
One tip. Get the rare metal extractor up and running asap. You can sell rare metal for cash and this will fund you at least in the early game. Regarding the low efficiency. These can be done 24/7 so the difference is not so big. And considering the penalties for colonist from working outside it is even better. Definitiv the best tech you can get for early game.
That breakthrough is incredible: automatic extraction. You’d be crazy to ever staff an extractor again after you get it unless for a sponsor goal or achievement. Instead, just build more automated extractors and deal with the increased maintenance coats of cross-contamination with dust!
I have being feeling a bit of an itch to play this game, and now seeing you have a new series of this game might be the push I need to get it again. Really looking forward to this series Pravus.

Actually, this 1075% Map has been changed with the latest update (yesterday), so you're playing on a new map! Maybe 1075% is not the hardest map anymore, though I didn't check yet.
Was trying out the tourism update, had difficulty set high , with all disasters set on max. Was doing ok, lots of water and oxygen. Then a 5 day dust storm hit right in the middle of a polymer shortage aaaand all my domes end up needing repairs. Life support goes out and 500 people suffocate to death. Yeah. Mars is hell. Let’s do that again!
Then you over built into unbalance. If your colony was 500 people you should never be able to die. You should be making everything you need. You should have enough in storage to survive just about anything.
@@larrylindgren9484 true but shuttles don’t fly in dust storms and I build to rely on those as opposed to overlapping drone hubs and storage placements
I just pictured in my head- Elon Musk: We shall send colonists to Mars. Reporter: Have you found a good spot for this important step onto another world? Elon: Yes, I am proud to say, my specialist have scoured all of Mar. Debate the pros and cons of each site. And found the perfect spot. Reporter: Sounds great! So what makes this spot better than any of the rest? Elon: Better? Oh no, no I think you misunderstand. We found the absolute Worst spot on the entire surface. Yes this spot is by far the hardest to survive at, let alone thrive. Reporter:Wha?... Wait What? But Why? Elon: The more difficult, the sweeter the victory if they succeed. Obviously! Reporter: Are you secretly a Villain? Elon: No! Well maybe from a certain perspective, but not from my own. Reporter: So probably the families of your colonists then? Elon: No, of course not. That's why we excepted only orphans! Reporter:
I can handle every one of difficulty rules except the Rebel Yell. I've had rebel colonists blow up their own living spaces, ranches, medical clinics, etc. Even sequestering them to their own little dome causes constant headaches.
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a game-mode in which Earth is completely dead, but you have a smalll base set up already that has just enough resources to survive and expand?
For those who think we can just easily relocate to Mars if things go wrong on Earth: with perhaps the exception of the bottom-most parts of the oceans or inside an active volcanic crater any place on Earth is more colonizable than any place on Mars. This includes the remote regions of Antarctica.
How in the world do you expect to beat a 1075% difficulty challenge when you're doing shit like launching the rocket with no drone hubs nearby hahahaha god blessy your optimistic heart Pravus
Great time to start a new play-through! Surviving Mars was recently offered for free on the Epic Games Store. There will be plenty of people trying it out for the first time now.
Your rare metals deposit is very high grade - why not get the breakthrough and put one or two mines on that to send back? At the moment your rockets are going back empty. It would also go a long way to getting you self-sufficient.
I did a 1075% playthrough last year in which I selected no rivals as well. It's doable, in case anyone is wondering. It was painful and tedious in the early going, though.
Last war is WW3. You need to prevent it from going nuclear by defusing tensions. Wildfire is a super plague. You need to make a cure. Marsgate is a watergate type scandal involving a company doing weapons tests on mars. You need to not get blown to bits until the trial ends.
You should try the game using the initial release features. No supply pods, rovers consume power and have limited range, no ability to raise/lower terrain, drammatically higher rate of cables/pipes breaking, etc.
