    I will always have a place in my heart for my Browning Hi Power, it was one of my dad's first guns he bought, one of the first guns I remember shooting, and my first gun. My dad died of cancer last year in December at the age of 50, he served in Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom, he thought me all I know about guns, war, history and a shit ton more. I'm only 18 as of now so I can't conceal carry, but when I can it will probably be by my hip everywhere it can go.

    I find using cheap Walmart knockoffs of Q-Tips to clean the internals of my pistols very helpful. They are stronger and stiffer than regular Q-Tips and much cheaper to boot.

    BHP is my all time favorite pistol and I have a collection. Problem is the caliber. My .40 MK 3 wasn't the solution either but I finally found it, the EAA Witness Elite Match 10MM. BHP meets the Bren 10 without the failings of either. I would trust the BHP over any other 9MM and I carried one for quite a few years. BTW I clean all guns in hot water with hand dish detergent and brushes, then rinse in hot water and blow dry with a compressor

    CZ 75 is pretty much the same. I use a lot of q-tips with CLP and tend to put a cleaning patch over the brush, then push it through, which really hugs the rifling.

    Hey mrgunsngear I just bought a used Charles Daly Hi Power. I really don't know much about it but I really have been wanting a Hi Power for the longest time. Do you or anyone else know much about these firearms? I did a bit of googling and found some decent reviews but not too many TH-cam vids on them. I really like this gun and it was the first impulse buy I ever made. I really love the way the gun feels and I did it cuz it's a gun my wife has always loved to shoot since she was a girl and after doing some research on it I really liked the features it had.

    Thanks. NOW, I need to take my Argentine FM out to the range. With the spur hammer, bite is no problem--I notice you don't seem to get bitten by the 'rowel' hammer, which is notorious for biting the hand that shoots it!
    My cleaning centers around pipe cleaners and a BoreSnake--quick and easy!!

    Just picked up a 89 model today. Not shot it yet but I am just wondering if I should refinish it or not? It is not horrible but aged. I know I shouldn't if it is a collectors gun but not sure if one made in 89 qualifies as such?

      If it's an original Hi Power by FN or Browning I would leave it original. Nothing devalues it faster than customizing it. Same with vintage guitars

  • @andy366919
    @andy366919 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It would be nice if Browning brought the Hi-power back in a couple years with a beavertail, light rail, tritium sights, checkering, and magazine disconnect removed. Oh and quit putting the serial number on the front strap.

    I'm hoping YOU will do a review of the Tisas Regent BR9 in Stainless. I have one on order and should have it in a week or so. I had a Browning Hi Power I purchased new in the early 80s and sold it to a friend some time ago at a lower price than I should have. One of the worst gun decisions I have ever made. I can't believe Browning/FN discontinued the Hi Power after all these years even though they were selling new at a $1000 or more and were extremely scarce. OUCH!

    I’m seeing this clone in a lot of places so it must have a lot of interest. My only experience with Tisas is one of their 1911’s and it was awful. The trigger pull was over 12lbs, racking the slide was almost impossible and I couldn’t get it to feed a hollow point to save my life. It’s only one gun and maybe I just got a bad one but it was so bad that I’d be hard pressed to try them again. It was cheap and I bought it so I could learn to gut it and build with the parts I wanted so it wasn’t a total loss but I don’t know that I could do that with this one, so my question I guess is, is this worthy of the hype it seems to be getting? It does look good but all I can think about is how much my hand shook trying to pull a trigger on their 1911.

    • @mikewithers299
      @mikewithers299 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard really good things about the Regend clone of the Hi Power but I've never tried one. As for the Browning and Springfield versions I can say a 12 lb trigger is way off. It should be 5-6 lbs for this platform. I would stay away from cheap clones only because of reliability issues and failures. Hi Powers in general won't like hollow point bullets unless they are round nose. These were designed for fmj (ball) ammo only. The Springfield SA 35 claims they can run +P and hollow points, but I haven't verified that yet.

Was disappointed FN had ceased production of the original but the Tisas is a solid performer & I like the safety on it more than some Ive seen on the FN hipower. You do a great job on your videos! Adios amigo!

      The MK 2 and 3 are better feeders and usually don't need more than a ramp polish. They prefer non truncated JHPs such as Speer Gold Dots. If you are going to shoot hotter ammo in it install a Wolff recoil spring
