The only thing is that we really really like sparkling water, and last time I checked that stuff doesn't come out of the tap. Also... every bottle you buy costs you 25 cents extra that you'll get back if you bring it back to the store for recycling. That way all the bottle-plastic is already separate from everything else, saving the recycling companies some effort. How does your country deal with plastic bottles, if I may ask?

The real irony is...go look at the World's Strongest Man competitors, or most strongmen in general. Most of them have youtube channels or use social media now, and despite being the strongest humans in the world, they're just the nicest most tolerant people I've ever seen. Most of them have great careers going, they have families and friends all over the world, but they don't talk about avoiding un-manly activities, because they're confident enough to not worry about it. Who cares if they do all the shopping or are really into recycling? At the end of the day, they're still a hundred times more manly than anything the anti-recycling nutjobs can be.

@Dan T Haha, I guess that's really personal. There are a lot of women who don't like the macho-types. And to me it's actually more manly when a man makes his own choices, despite of what others think of it.
When you're viewing it from a stereotypical perspective, I agree, the women have their role in that game too. They're equally insecure and do all kinds of stuff to attract men's attention. It works both ways. But you can't blame it all on the women. You're always responsible for your own decisions, right? Even if they're effected by your insecurity of what others might think of you. So like I said, it's a matter of priorities.

I don't get where you got your 'fact'. "Men don't tend to become better people in the company of women," don't lump yourself with other nice men who were always a gentleman to their woman. Kye Talks liking Coke Zero isn’t inherently unmasculine. Choosing Coke Zero because Diet Coke/coke light is “super gay and will turn you into a woman because ladies drink it and the world ‘diet’ is in cursive!” Is silly and falls into the defined term “toxic masculinity”.

@@mksabourinable ...or do you? 😅 Only roughly 50% guessed right on a 50-50 taste test, so you *could* have been sold by the marketing (the marketing is really good, so that's not a knock on you... I hope someone there got a raise), not necessarily the "manly" part of it, but they also pressed how much it tastes just like regular Coke (that demographic that likes things that taste as good as ever, but without the baggage of calories - most people?). There's only a two-ingredient difference, mostly one (the other sweetner), but there's also that other one which has become pretty standard in modern drinks. They're both still sweetened with aspartame, which I think makes both taste horrible, and given the choice between them, I look for water... but that's my personal tastes.

Yeah, so...this only really happens in the US. Here in Canada we'd look at you weird if you say you don't recycle. Besides the fact that every house gets 2 free recycling bins and a compost bin, where I live in Ontario also restricts how many bags of garbage you can put out per week. So you kind of have to recycle, doesn't matter who you are. There's always exceptions, like double the limits around the holidays, but in most towns and cities you would face a hefty fine if you put out too much garbage anyway. It's just cheaper to buy more recycling or compost bins.
If any of these "manly men" tried to ignore recycling over here, then I hope they like paying extra to the city, and being looked down on by their communities. Where I live it's more of a moral responsibility to recycle, you do it because it's your duty to improving your community and the planet as a whole.

To the men who refuse to recycle: get some empty boxes and turn it into a basketball sorting game (paper, plastic etc).
To the guys who don't feel manly enough to carry tote bags: go buy a light, foldable backpack that folds into a hand-sized pouch. Then you don't have to feel the gay shame that's all in your head.

Only in the USA, in the UK men are perfectly content to recycle and use tote bags. Maybe it has something to do with feeling secure in who you are? If you feel secure, it really doesn’t matter what others think. It does also help when local governments fine you for not recycling properly.

Fun fact: repeated studies have shown a strong correlation between men who profess to be straight and who publicly voice opposition to 'those gays'........with these same men showing strong sexual arousal when viewing gay pornography.

No, this is... actually a thing. There are studies from other countries, including mine, reflecting this. Being environmentally conscious and acting like it is being seen as less manly, especially adopting habits you've not learnt from home---so like recycling metal tins is okay because it's a habit you picked up from home, but doing the same for plastic is not because it's a newer phenomenon.
      It's not usually conscious, but it's 100% a thing.

@@Cathyblj I mean, are you surprised, considering the overall values of these people? At least in my personal experience, the manlier the man (in his opinion), the more he has nostalgia to when Men Were Men and Women Were Women. I could see that tying into the idea of "putting tins in the metal recycling bin is How We Used To Do It" but following the suggestion of doing the same for plastics now that it's been made easier, said by someone outside of their families, _especially_ an environmentalist or a scientist, is submission.

Not at all surprised. They seem to think obnoxiousness = manliness. Being rude, making a lot of noise, having vicious dogs, driving gas guzzlers, driving like jerks, insulting others and treating women badly are all signs of “manliness,” in these losers’ eyes.

My stepdad is the most manliest guy I know and he is the most eco-friendliest person I know (and ever hope to know)! When I moved to a rural town he grilled me on the town's recycling program and told me to save all my burnt out lightbulbs and dead batteries to bring and give to him when I visit so he can safely dispose of them. My mom chimed in saying I could take them to my local fire department and meet some nice, handsome (and single) firemen and my step dad said he didnt trust that the volunteer firefighters would dispose of them safely. LMAO my mom lucked out with him. He is a really awesome guy but I'm SO glad I didn't grow up with him! LMAO
