This chaotic pendulum is really weird

Chaos theory is beautiful and ridiculous, and I’m a big fan of this pendulum.

    Now do a quadruple pendulum

If I set my alarm every morning at one minute different, this is what my day looks like

Oh come on, they weren't even that close before you released them. Now i need my own double pendulums

    You didn’t release them equally 100% that’s why « chaos theory »

How to dance to dubstep: flailing spider legs GO!

Did you say it’s impossible to predict. That’s false. All you need to know is the exact starting positions. Now In a computer simulation this is a lot easier but even with air resistance and other factors it’s still possible. Now technically technically if you want to get real deep, quantum mechanics make’s literally anything impossible to predict, but on these large scales it doesn’t matter almost at all.

  • @PrestoSaibot

Not impossible. Very predictable. There's a pattern and if you was to trace it's movement it would create a unique snowflake shape.

  • @makokitsune6487

Now the question is if you could somehow set off the pendulum in exactly the same way as the first time, would it move in exactly same way? Or maybe there are also smaller things that we can't notice that impact its trail?

Not all chaotic systems are unpredictable, only non-deterministic systems are unpredictable

  • @donkeytrump

That's why changing a little bit in a past might make a big difference in a future because there is so much pivot.

Do this experiment with different colours

  • @anirban7493

Not long ago I programmed one in a computer simulation

There is a video of a tripple Inverter pendulum on TH-cam. Where the guy masterd it with motion control machinery. Really impressive

I wanna see a megauple pendulum

What kind of pivots are you using? What would I look for at a warehouse? (Thanks)
