I'm actually a little upset about it. It's not really a renovation. It's like she just built a whole new house and made it her signature suburban-bump-out-gable-roof vibe. I would like to see someone actually renovate it. I'm not trying to be mean. But I'm kinda disappointed.
Cindy Kitty yes I agree with you. She just built her own signature home for the family. I hope she would at least use the same windows, same doors & same painting for the outside part. But she replaced most of the things with only one exception, sticking with concept that it’s a manor. I like her new build better than the old one which is pretty awkward, though.

Esther Raeburn Yes, I could just do that. But that's not the point I'm making. Kayla has made a name for herself with her save file and renovating lots. James mentioned he knew Kayla would "fix the house." I don't like the principle of the video being a "renovation" when it really isn't one. Every builder has their own style. But I feel like aspects of her style hold her back. I know she had the pack for a limited amount of time and these videos of her redoing lots are rushed. So I guess it's not fair to criticize her for sticking to what she knows to crank out so many Eco Lifestyle builds in such a short amount of time while it's really relevant. Overall though, I feel her builds have begun to feel samey enough for me to lose interest. So these Eco builds haven't helped, they've just only added to the pile for me.
I'll say it again because I want to make sure the tone of the comment comes across correctly because I can see how a comment like this to seem as such: this is not meant to be a hate comment. This is meant to be a constructive criticism.

Not saying that's a bad thing really, but it is a little annoying she completely changed the style of the house. It's no longer a manor but just a rich suburban house. It's like the people that say they renovated the Goth Manor and turned it bright.. or take Bella and give her a makeover just to take her out of all of her iconic style. lol

At this point, I feel like EA should email you their Restrictions or at least confirm what rules you have been following and what rules you have been taking liberties with when you complete these challenges.
I think it’s more complicated and she wouldn’t be able to actually follow it. It probably has to do with polygon count and stuff
I actually really like the exterior of the original (it's not perfect) but it reminds me of historical homes you see in cities that have kept their character over the years. The renovation is a good house but I don't think it captures that.
For some reason, it gave me The sims 1 Goth family house.... when she kind of "lined everything up" before removing the bay windows - BAM Goth vibes

I'm sure one of EA's rules is that the build make sense and fits within its neighborhood and community's theme. Lilsimsie always misses this one.
this is very pretty but i feel like the outside of the house has lost some of its original aesthetic- growing up in ireland, ive seen a lot of the beautiful georgian brick houses that sprung up from back when industry and ship building here was a big deal. while a very beautiful build, im sad to say that when i look at this house, i no longer see that aesthetic, something i think the sims team were trying to go for in this build (yeah, they might have failed, but hey, we see them trying)
maybe its me being sad because quarantine means i havent seen those houses in a while. maybe im just a baby. but id love to see your attempt at this house again (or perhaps a fresh build with the same old georgian townhouse blocky brick aesthetic), to see what you can do with embracing the older look. i can absolutely see you doing it better than the sims team did, and i have a lot of love for those types of houses.

So I get why you said this is the worst house however, the house with the slip-n-slide roof does it for me. When I saw this video, I thought it was going to be that one and clicked immediately. I think that house does it for me because of the weird roofing but also the front is perfectly flat with 8 windows, the back is toward the road and the eye naturally gets drawn there, the inside has a weird layout with stairs and ladders, the family is a shady bunch, and it feels like there is a lot happening while simultaneously nothing happening.
The upside is that EA Builders did not fill it with empty space and choose furniture instead. Still, this house renovation is amazing.

If you try renovating from the map view without loading the household, I think the furniture doesn’t depreciate. Then you won’t have to worry about the cost difference.

James Fluker I have many, many questions about their builds but I think this actually makes sense if you think of it as a household designed for the player who has no interest in building or creating a sim, who just moves right in and gets started with the family it comes with. The more they play, the more objects they’ll gather, including some big furniture pieces, and they might want to add kids or pets or whatever. It gives the player room to accommodate all of those things without forcing them to expand the build itself and mess with landscaping, which I assume most people find kind of tedious. That’s my guess anyway!
I would just like regular renovations back 😔 I miss fixer upper type renovations

if y'all are sad she turned it into a rich blue suburban then i recommend you check out the pigulock builds on the gallery, there's a few that are pretty nice! i definitely also wish she kept the original feel, and kinda hope she does a redo with an infinite budget, that would be super cool!
