Fishing that eddy across from your position is holding bigtime. It would be easier bringing them in. The are some 20-30 pounders woring that eddy. You can cast right to the middle of the eddy with a bump or a carolina rig with braid main and fluoro leader.
That place is also excellent for white bass and hybrids (wipers, depending on where you're from). By the boat ramp on the opposite side is a good spot to snag spoonbill.
@@ThatsAGoodFish Oh yeah, there's definitely wiper in the Verdigris :) That spillway is one of my fave spots to fish, and I typically position myself about 50ft away from the wings of the dam. Most of what I catch are white bass (sand bass), a few wipers here and there, a random striper (small ones though), and random crappie. I once caught a 6 pounder at Oologah Dam that fought like hell the entire time, so much so that as I was about to secure it on my stringer, it flopped hard about 2ft and got away. At Lock and Dam 18 further down river, I've also caught some.
You guys want more spillway vids!?
Looks like fun, definitely some fast current!
Definitely was, made it that’s much harder to bring the big boys in. Thanks for watching!
That's looks like a good place to fish. I'm sure some big ones are in there. They was some healthy blues
There are some monsters, if you can get them out of the rocks and the current!
@@ThatsAGoodFish I can believe it an you never know could bring up a big one on your next cast.
Yessir!
@@ThatsAGoodFish hope you get on one.
Great video. Nice string of fish
Thanks man! Hoping I have a better experience this year! Will definitely be ready this time.
I know some good spillways for some good spillway fishin. Definitely never fished for blues this way. I need to try this.
It’s a blast man!
I’m gonna try it in Chetopa. Never thought of doing it that way.
Awesome video thanks for sharing
No prob bro! Glad you enjoyed, make sure you sub if you haven’t already!
Does the weights not go up under the rocks
You will occasionally get hung up but with the current it keeps the weight bouncing enough that it’s not very often.
Good fish Hill Billy jim
great area, i go rock crawling there in the spring/summer. lots of deep pockets and holes there
It is a really cool area, this was my first time down there but I had a blast.

Is that where the boat ramp is? Are they biting down there right now?

^Oologah Dam
You catch wiper below the oologah dam? Around where we were fishing or down a little bit more?

@@smartwulf918 Thanks for the info! Glad you enjoyed the video!
What rod do you use
In this video I actually used a two piece ocean rod
You should have tried spooning for some. When they're really eating shad like that, they'll smack a spoon.
I thought the same thing, tried a 1/2 oz through there multiple times but didn’t get a hit. Can’t say I tried it for long though
What spillway is that?
Oklahoma Lake
Where is that
Below Oologah Dam in Oklahoma
That’s A Good Fish thankw
you guys should show how to clean bass, drum, crappie, and catfish.
We’ll take catfish and drums we fry em up and eat em with beans and rice with a touch of lime
Sounds awesome man!
We call that Sandwich size
I think that’s a brilliant term!
