    I have Error Code 8 and 8 flashing. Ice machine stopped working. What could be a problem?

    • @MaratRPMSoCal
      @MaratRPMSoCal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On a Scotsman, Code 8 means there's a short freeze cycle. This is caused by: due to scale buildup Misadjustment of ice thickness sensor A broken, bent, or dismounted ice thickness sensor. To clean the spillway surface, see the below directions.

    Anybody recognize the cleaners being used in the video? I’m looking for something better than what I’ve been using

    • @MaratRPMSoCal

      I use Nickel safe most common cleaner. Its a green liquid. For coil cleaner is a Nubrite brand - blue liquid. ✌️

    Can a normal person do this or do you need to be certified

    Have you ever had the Code 2 Max Harvest Time then later Code 8 would Flash?

    • @MaratRPMSoCal
      @MaratRPMSoCal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did see it before. sometimes it happens due to faulty ice thickness probe. it would not build thick enough ice and go to harvest, since ice is thin it would never trigger curtain sensor and will run in harvest very long. or curtain sensor is bad

    • @SombraLocs
      @SombraLocs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaratRPMSoCal First I thought that Code 2 was being triggered by the harves assist probe getting stuck and not going out all the way out to push the ice. Then sometimes the ice would fall and on the next freeze cycle it wouldn't run very long and Code 8 would flash.

    how much something like this would cost? PM, De scale.. It is gonna take over an hour or even two hours.

    Ice thickness sensors never act up. They either work or don’t work

    • @MaratRPMSoCal
      @MaratRPMSoCal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I notice they would act up if you get ice machine cleaner on those, but they would work if you clean them with water very good and dry them out after cleaner

    • @BartSimpson-nr1dy
      @BartSimpson-nr1dy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marat RPM SoCal - from that point, if you try to read continuity with a multi-meter and the tips of the probe are covered with an insulator, you’re absolutely not going to get a reading. As well with the ice thickness sensor. If the sensor is covered with anything that will not allow it to sense continuity, it not gonna work. But the sensor itself is not acting up.
      I work directly for Scotsman and realize the loss of surface tension at the spillway is 99.999% of the problem. The only other problem it could be is a broken single black wire back to the controller or the control board is bad. Good luck my friend. Great video

    • @MaratRPMSoCal
      @MaratRPMSoCal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BartSimpson-nr1dy Good to know, thanks. I call sensor and wire as a sensor since it comes in one piece. broken of wire would be a bad sensor for me, I notice after ice mach cleaner scotsman and Manitowoc Q series gives me wrong reading at the controllers.

    Change the ice thickness sensor whit time relay - and no more problems.

    • @rosskious7084
      @rosskious7084 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could tell from the color of the liquid in the bottle that it was not the leak detector. However , I would have relabeled the bottle in case someone else thought it was leak detector.
