The crazy thing about the motor in this plane... about 5-8 cycles in, the motor really unwinds and gets faster!! This video makes me want one more!! Good stuff!!!
WOW! That's crazy! I'm loving the way it flies!!! What an awesome plane!!!
Brian, I'm sure you figured out the yaw issue by now. One of the shots installing the battery clearly shows the receiver and it appears to not be mounted straight with the centerline. It looks to be pointing to the left which would cause a yaw to the right with AS3X on (my hypothesis for what it's worth). You made me love the plane anyway and I have one waiting for me to get home and put it together.
I've seen this before, and have since learned there is a small correction factor in the AS3X programming, but I don't know for certain it wasn't wind??? It's been a while since I took her out...this is one heck of a plane!!!
I have this same jet and it is so forgiving when it comes to batteries. I’ve flown everything from 4000 to 6200 in it and I put all my batteries against the foam in the front right at the end of the battery trey. Plane flies so nice.
SWEET! I guess now I need to try the 7000mAh 6S?
Go into Telemetry > Volts. Tap it twice. Set it to 6s and set the low level warning to 21.6 volts (3.6 x 6c) with a verbal warning. That'll give you roughly one minute of flight time after you hear the warning from voltage sag, and you won't need to land to know what your battery level is. Super easy setup. It'll also warn you if you happen to load a dead battery. The 637T is the best receiver!
Also glad to see you're using that technique I mentioned with the volt cable install!
It's been working well!
I get nervous with EDF's getting to 3.6 per cell, but you're right, I could just back off for a second if I hear the warning, then land. I've learned to save power when I get a warning, but many times I get too excited, and don't want to stop flying!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Keep it up buddy! Loving your content. I'd love to see you do a high torque servo replacement on your Turbo Timber to match my setup with the 637T. Pulling 10g maneuvers is incredible to watch. Lomcevaks into a rolling turn using the new servos and a 12x6 2 blade prop.
Brian...You know when a person loves a plane when they fly it down to LVC and have a big smile on their face. 😁Great job buddy. 👍👍😎
You got that right! I love flying this plane, and it's a great plane. I want the Havoc now to compare the two.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Oh yeah! Now you talkin. 👊.
This plane was the reason i started to fly rc plane(watched in your channel). I started to fly a few toygrade planes since sept 2020 and started to fly fms ranger 1800mm, fms p39 and fms t28 early jan 2021. Today a friend said wants to sell his futura for only 130usd and i decided to buy it. This will be my 1st edf going to maiden this weekend. Wish me luck!😄😄
AWESOME!!! This plane is FASSSSST! Good luck!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC unfortunately after chcking...the guy actually crashed that plane before and he hasnt f ok ybit after he fixed it. So i decided not to take the risk
That landing was awesome!!!
Obviously not the last one ;) LOL!!!
THIS ONE IS A MUST HAVE.
Totally! It's amazing!
Another great feature presentation movie brought to you by Brian Phillips and his GREAT camera crew!!! Great video!!!
Thanks again!
you should see the big brother tomahawk futura. its a turbine but 2.5m and 3m options and has thrust vectoring option to 3D it
SWEET!
put a little (10mm x 40mm) ice cream tub plastic trim tab on your rudder trailing edge a the base - bent opposite to the crab and it will straightem right out without adversely affecting yaw - they have to do it on the full size so why not
I don't think the camera crew let that bad boy out of frame even once! Nice work.
She is good!!!
You are not much “aerobatic” but you’re the best lander ever seen .
LOL - I'm not that good, but I'll take it ;)
Really like the FMS model line! Had a Sbach342 back a few yrs ago, loved it. Ordered and used the link. Really enjoy watching your vids. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for following the links Jeffrey! We appreciate your support!
Awesome jet, mite set up a tripod with radar so we can see how fast a high speed pass really is.
Really cool!
Sweet plane have the first version of it. The nx6 is awesome. Well done Brian and Mrs Megan aka camera crew. Thanks for the video.
Thanks - sure is!
Awesome first landing ! That was slick
Thanks! This plane is a joy to fly. Such a blast, and not huge or hard to get around...but lipos are still expensive, and believe me, you'll need 3 or 4 ever time you fly ;)
One of the best planes in your fleet:)
ESTEBAN the worlds one and only CAMEO on BrianPhillipsRC?!?!?!?! You grace us with your presence!!!
It *is* AMAZING!
OMG THAT FIRST LANDING!!!!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 cheers Brian I love the in depth videoes!
Glad you enjoyed it (I sure did!)
Im glad you talked about the flap issue on the NX6..I have a model with flaps on both channels 5 and 6 and the only way I was able to assign flaps to both channels 5 and 6 was to copy the model from my DX6E onto an SD card and import it to my NX6 and it worked. I emailed HH just to find out if my TX was screwing with me because every time I scrolled thru the channel assignments to channel 6 the flaps would disappear and you have change the model type back and forth to have it back. I had a terrible time trying to get some flaps setup on my bighorn because the servos are not the same direction so a Y cord wont work. If I hadnt of figured out you could cheat and use the model setup from an older tx Id have to use a servo reverser. So you can do flaps on both channels 5 and 6 it is possible and now aux 2 (channel 7) is my flight modes..win win yay
Aaron - have you ever used a SERVO Signal Reverser? Not saying you can't do it as described, but might save you some grief for less than $5 each???
4 Pack - amzn.to/3497AA9
2 Pack - amzn.to/3qWlK1l
@@BrianPhillipsRC yes I ended up getting a servo reverse cable before I was able to achieve the flaps on both channels..I might go back and do separate ailerons and set up spoilerons and crow.. Ive seen you do some pretty cool stuff with spoilers and whatnot maybe ill have to try those configurations sometime.
Nice Flyin' Brian. Way to wring Her out with reckless abandon, love that stuff. Got one myself & She screams like no other EDF. KE is almost as good as my 70mm Avanti. Rock solid airframe. Gotta be the best 80mm Sport Jet out on the market today.
I think it's AMAZING!!! I've herd a few grumblings that I MUST now review the HAVOC....well, I don't want to be rude and leave out the Eflite ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Would be interesting if you could do an inflight video comparing both 80mm's flyin' together with two pilots at the controls in a Real Time Shootout. Might be a way to tell if there are any significant differences between the two airframes in case anyone is wondering or maybe it doesn't even matter...LOL...
$329.00 unbelievable, awesome job, you both are truly an inspiration, ty both
Thanks Steven!!! This plane is really cool - but you'll need Rx too, don't forget ;)
Alucinante, ojalá tuviera uno

Camera crew!! Excellent work on them high speed passes!!
I know!!! It would have been like a foam-sploshion.
Thanks again Brian on a great review, I look each day for your reviews it is a treat for my whole day ! Thanks for taking the time you take for the set up on the planes and the flights.. just awesome !
Just love the sound that thing makes !
You are one blessed fellow to have a wife (camera crew) that helps and seems to enjoy your hobby with you, gosh I envoy you... Please keep um coming...
excuse the spelling ... envy... lol
My pleasure!
I didn't even see spelling mistakes ;) Glad you're hear with us, and I am one lucky guy!!!
Nice jet! I went and looked for it and seems they are on back order!
You're like a kid in a candy store with these videos! Love it!!! Great job to you and the "camera woman" Those jets aren't easy to keep up with sometimes.!!!!
Yeah, it's awesome, and seems everything everywhere is back ordered ;( Sorry about that, but I'd encourage you to BACK ORDER if you can tolerate the wait, since everything is backlogged with Covid...
@@BrianPhillipsRC It's all good!!! I'll just watch you fly yours until I get mine!!🤣😁🛩🛰🛸
I'd love to see you do a video of the Freewing Mig 29 with Thrust Vectoring upgrade.
MotionRC won't work with us. If they did, I'd love to do that plane, and many others they offer.
I understand affiliate business. MotionRC and Horizon obviously have different marketing strategies and business plans. I wrote a long comment about it, but then decided not to post it. I feel like bashing Horizon Hobby, the AMA, the FAA, among other groups again, was not going to accomplish anything positive. I don't get paid for my thoughts, but as an entrepreneur it really seems like hobbyists are going to have to change some things if this hobby is going to survive another decade in the USA.
That's one GREAT flying and looking plane you have their Sir. I'm sure you will love the FMS AVANTI Please try it if you get the chance. I REALLY think FMS are making AMAZING PLANES at good value. Thanks for another great review Brian 👍🇬🇧♥️🛬🚁🛩️✈️🛫👌😁
If they send it, I will do it ;) I've been really happy with the FMS lineup!
@@BrianPhillipsRC and between fms lineup and e-flite ...what is your favorite...?
Very good review👍
Glad you liked it - we JUST released the V3 on Thursday, have you seen it?

Great job, thank you guys.
Our pleasure!
Can’t wait for the Fox and C-47
Coming very soon ;) I see you're looking at my playlists - LOL - Thanks TH-cam!!!
43:00 - I’ve mounted the AR637T and AR630 sideways with no issue. Safe and AS3X work
Really?!??!? Why does Horizon say NOT to??!?!? I don't get it!
Sorry if I was wrong. The package say this for some reason?!!?
@@BrianPhillipsRC I use orientation 13 - pins pointing to the right with the face up. I just did the automatic process of putting the model on it’s nose
@@BrianPhillipsRC I didn’t read the manual, I just watched the SpektrumRC programming series
I haven’t read the manual yet either for my AR637T or AR630 but I fly with a couple of Horizon Hobby field reps at my club and that was supposed to be one of the improvements of these Rx’s compared to the older AR636A/AR636B. With the old ones it did matter which direction you installed them. With the new ones it’s not suppose to matter anymore so guys are mounting them in all different directions. As long as you initiate them properly during set up as Charlie mentioned you should be good to go.
I am with you on the scale preference, but this jet definitely has a fun factor of over 100%... :)
Totally concur! 110% fun factor. I wasn't ready for how awesome it is!!!
Oh I’d love to see u compare this to the havoc. I had A HELL of a time trying to decide on which one to buy. Went with the havoc. Now I’m just stating at it as we have 2 feet of snow here in northern Ontario Canada
Me too. We also just got our first snow ;) It was only good since I have a new plow I wanted to use ;) We'll be sharing that video too. Dry and clean driveway today!!!!! Can't wait to show it off ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC oh yea!! Excited to see that!!
Okay Brian !!! Do you own all of the planes you have shown ?!?! Batteries.....OMG can you give us a tour of the Man-cave of your collection........??? Please ??? You must have 50G's invested PLUS PLUS !!! WoW !!! I love it...
I have a lot of planes. The basement is getting REALLY full. I have sold a few here and there to make room, but I tend toward hoarding, when it comes to RC planes ;)
Super, Extra, Top.
Many thanks!
mayday ! mayday !mayday ! 🪂✈✈ holly crap ! it was time ⌚! 💙 ! really like fms nice and strong build !
Agree - Solid plane!!!
Wow amazing plane and flight, i think my next plane will be this one. 👌😊
Good choice! It's soooo much fun!!!
Super 👌
You should slap a gps or something to track the speed on this thing! Stupid fast
I could actually. Might be worth the effort - I have two sitting there waiting to be loved ;)
Yay first one again you know why right? I’m a brain Phillips fan boy. Plus that landing was gangster.
Thanks for being a Brian Phillips Fan-Boy!!!
great video! man I am still torn between this and the freewing avanti s....ugg such a tough decision!
I want to tell you one is better than the other, but I haven't flown the Avanti S yet :(... Sorry Joe!
you dont have a text file on what your settings were right? Tonite is my maiden flight with this air craft. Im binding my Jumper t18 pro to it. I think i need to pick up a spektrum radio cus it just looks so much easyier in set up , binding and just everything. well this is my first jet flight to , i bought a brand new GnB 6s 5000 mah 180c baba. time to take this sweet EDF and not crash to hard. top gun
Sorry, I don't have text files. I agree the Spektrum is very much easier, but that's what I'm used too...
NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB
Consider the NX8, and you'll be set for some time!
FMS oh yeah WOW she's fast !!!!
...AND slow too ;) That's why I love it. When they CAN fly slow too, that' make a plane fun to fly. Just fast, makes them scary to fly and takes a lot of fun out of it, if you ask me.
@@BrianPhillipsRC true words Brian what I like to do is on them windy day is too hover on the spot..
I'm gonna start calling my wife "Camera Crew" for now on. :-)
LOL!
My favorite edf. I've got 5 still nib. I run a 4400 75c pack 3 minute. I cut foam outta the canopy. Better then avanti.
You have 5??!?! Why 5??? This plane is awesome, agreed, but 5 of them? Do you have 4 kids that fly with you :) That would be freaking cool!!!
No it's I have a un natural fear of planes being discontinued.
You Killed it Brian and Camera Crew....love love love the Futura....thanks for the fun
Thanks! We really enjoyed it. Easy build, and very nice flying plane!!!
Hi...Brian i dont bélica...fantastic...very very good
Hey, thanks! It's a great one! Super fast, but easy to fly and land - Great combo.... I'm a sucker for the Viper Jet for it's beautiful looks, but this plane just does everything better!!!
Been waiting for this one, thanks
Hope you enjoyed it!
Love the pencil Christmas tree. Like the plane's long gear for grass. Sounds a lot different on the 5K. Do you have to let the engine cool down?
Thanks, we love that it takes up less room. As for grass, she does amazing on those relatively tall gear. Not sure what you mean by the sound on 5K??? I don't really let it cool down, since it's pretty cold out.
Damn I know that second landing had your butt puckered lol Awesome Jet guys 🔥👍✌️
It was a bit clenchy ;) I should have just put down the wheels, but I got greedy with the flare - LOL
Sweet 👍
Oh yeah!
Hi Brian I'm starting to purchase Spektrum lipos now instead of other brands. Would you say the difference between the 50c and 100c 5000 was very little in the performance area? 4 mins for each one but it's about £20 difference. Which lipo would you buy? Thanks.
Difference is minimal at best. I don't know if I would make any bets between the 50C and 100C. The 100C being especially egregious in price. The ONLY reason I would buy a 100C pack is if they were out of 50C packs and I NEEDED them within a day or two.
...BUT they are good too...just don't think they're worth the premium.
That is a awesome plane, I want! I want!......but need more skills first😪
You can do it! Take your time and love every minute of it!
You have a great camera crew to share your hobby with. Where did you get the Futura from?
Horizon Hobby...
Futura 80mm bit.ly/39N0khh
AR637T bit.ly/3pW3u86
I think this is your new favorite plane! I don't think I have ever heard you laughing and giggling this much in a video! It appears you're having a great time flying this plane. Did I over hear you say you love this plane. Don't, and I repeat, don't take the plane to bed with you! The camera crew will definitely put you in the dog house!😂
Sometimes, when you've been married for a REALLY long time, you need to spice things up, and so you end up with Futura in the bedroom...for lack of better storage options - LOL ;)
Orsum Jet 👍🏻Great video buddy.
Thanks a lot! It sure is!
Very cool man!
I agree, it's AWESOME! This plane is super cool!
Have you tried the smart esc swap on this jet? I ordered the jet with a 120 amp smart esc so I can get reverse thrust and all the telemetry goodies, but I have yet to actually do the swap because it looks like a royal pain to do.
I haven't, but why would it be a Royal Pain? Seems like it would be almost a drop in, if you used an AR631 or AR637T...
I think it's pretty straight forward, but now you have me thinking.
Pull the belly cover for the EDF, then you can see the back half of the ESC, and open the canopy to see the other half (Right???)...then it should be pretty straight forward.
@@BrianPhillipsRC It mostly has to do with where the esc is placed, there’s a cavity where the esc sits that’s made for the esc it comes with and that cavity runs from the motor to where you plug in the battery. It’s a tight space and requires more foam carving to get it to fit. It is straight forward, but the tight space also makes the wire routing a little more challenging on top of getting the esc to fit, especially if you want to keep things nice and clean.
Man you can fly the crap outta a plane. I have a V1 Futura with a V2 power system. I absolutely love it. Nice vid Brian👊
Cool, thanks! This plane makes me look good!!!!
Good review looks a looks like one of the best flying jets did a review on think I might get one
You should! It's awesome!!!
Where and how do you store your planes? Would a hanger video be possible?
Coming soon, and yes Everywhere. I've got a few people asking, and we'll do one soon!
Hey Brian awesome video as always!!! love this girl and have been close a couple times to getting it but you might have pushed me there. Question- I fly in Montana and my DX6e screen is very slow and barely shows up when its really cold.... So, does the NX display screen stay crisp and visable in below freezing temps??? Thanks!!
Great question. I think the older LCD screen, like my DX18 will slow down due to the nature of the liquid in the display, but I think this new style will work fast. I'll report back with a cold video soon, and I'll point it out.
This plane is sweeeet!
Hi. The battery bay of the v2 should be the same as the v3? So, shouldn't have any issues fitting a 5000 in a v3?
Hello sir today i saw 2 guys doing dog fight with this futura plane. Very very solid! I galked to them they said it got gyro but really not need it. I wonder the PNP came with gyro or bought separately.
The PNP doesn't come with Rx or anything Radio Related. I installed the AR637T, which has AS3X and SAFE (if you want to use them), and I used AS3X only. You can fly this plane without, but it's FASSSSSSSST, so I prefer to have the stabilizer from when you're going SLOOOOOOOW, which it will also do ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thank u for the reply sir! so the AS3X & SAFE actually functioning like the gyro right? i saw you said many times about SAFE switch in your video before but i didnt familiar with it. did some homeworks after that...my understanding is it is acting like a gyro. means if i use AR637T like u did, i do not need to add on gyro am i right?
I tried to fly a few small planes with gyro off i think i can manage...but just in case better to have this SAFE function in case or emergency or lost orientation.
I forgot to ask do you recommend using blenderm or hinge tape for any foam hinges on this plane? thanks
ONLY if they're weak, and I have done a few planes recently. I don't like the way Blenderm looks, and it's EXPENSIVE, but it does work really nice. I only do it if I have to. I'd prefer a simple packing tape, but you're right that Blenderm is way stronger.
What Percentage of down elevator to flap mix did you put in on this jet Brian?
Gotta watch the video...I can't rememeber
@@BrianPhillipsRC ah you sucka gonna make me watch the whole video again...i set mine at 14% and seems to be working good there!
I'm new to watching you and new to rc to be honest but my little boy is obsessed with the DC-10, is there a model you would recommend that we could work toward? Gg on the video, that jet looks amazing.
Airliners are tough, but they do exist. I've reviewed a few of them...

@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you so much for taking the time to share all that information with me. I'll check them all out with the most important person (my little boy) and we can decide which one he'd like to move up to. Thanks again.
Hello Brian, New to your channel, flew r/c 10 years back. Love all your video's. I bought a timber turbo 1.5m. Just waiting on Wisconsin weather. I'm not ready however what is your recommendation for jet trainer? Thanks again and how far you from Cedar Rapids Iowa and do you ever fly at r/c events? Take care. Tom Stark Egg Harbor Wis.
I'm about 2-2.5 hours drive from Cedar Rapids. I work there occasionally too.
Habu would be a good trainer EDF...

@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks
Whooo! Almost a yardsale :)
Did I miss something???
@@BrianPhillipsRC hmm...landing on E you may have. :)
Brian, what skill level should you have for this jet? Meaning can someone make it their first jet? Or should I just stick with the A-10 as the first one?
I wouldn't recommend it as a first jet, but it's GREAT flying, albeit VERY FAST. I want you to have success, so can I talk you into one of the following instead???
Habu 70mm bit.ly/3fRaLj7

😞 Okay Sir, I value your opinion & it will not be my first Jet. But those other two you mentioned aren’t my cup of tea. I put a lot of time in on RF 9.5 & I don’t like the way those two fly. So it have to be the Eflight A-10 then. FYI, the only reason I liked the above Jet was because you made it look so EASY! 😂
Also I’ll be clicking the link for the A-10 on that video. My way of supporting a really good teacher. Keep it up & don’t work the camera crew too hard!
Cool, and the A-10 is AMAZING too!!! You'll love it!

Awesome video, awesome jet. One of these days, you should try the Avian ESC. The 100 amp with reversing could really shorten the rollout on a jet like this
I want to try the Havoc too ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I just got a Havoc and switched it to the FMS 2100Kv EDF and 100 amp Avian. I think I’ll do the maiden with the stock AR636, then switch it to AR637T or AR8360T for telemetry, stabilization, reversing and full span ailerons
Will that Receiver work on a FMS P-51 Mustang V8 1450mm ?
Should work just fine.
great looking jet brian.id like to know what you think of it compared to the habu ?
Compared to the Habu... one's a Lamborghini, and one's an Escort GT...I'll let you decide which one is which ;) LOL!!!
Here's the deal, when you're learning to fly, the Futura would be a lawn dart, but when you KNOW how to fly, the Futura will be a favorite plane!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC ok thanks for that brian. ill stick to the habu escort g.t for now and wait a bit longer lamborghini HAHAHA!!!
Take the EDF system outa that and put it in the 80mm f18
This makes better use if the power... but yes the eflite comes to life with the 2100kv!!!
@@gooniac33 yeah for sure
I think the 80mm F-18 could have been a sweet Twin 70mm like the SU-30...I think it would be better ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC it would have to be way bigger then
So Bri when is the Iowa fly in? Imaging workshops. Sell Merch. T shirts etc ? I am sure that one neighbor wont care. Lol. Everyone buy from Brains and Meagans link. These are in depth no kissing butt reviews.
Do the right thing. Find any video and click the redirect link to Horizon. It's that easy.
Thank you Terry. We appreciate your kind words ;)
Will you be reviewing the newest Red Version?
Filmed and ready to publish as soon as planes are in stock ;) V3 - bit.ly/3vMZDhS

Yep, for sure.
I just bought my nx-6 coming from the dx-6 and pointers on set up I fly a range of different models from the eflite f15 64mm all the way to jets fw f22 90mm and eflite su-30 twin 70mm any tips
You'll love it. Don't forget to play with the Pallets. It's cool to make the colors the way you like them, and what works best for where you stand to fly. Very nice, and little talked about feature.
Your link here to the plane only takes you to parts thanks horizon.
bprc.me/FMS_Futura - sorry Horizon Hobby must be out of stock at the moment
