      cant speak for everyone but i really like this longer "unscripted" style. its nice to have as "2nd monitor content" no that thats a bad thing haha but for me i often like tho have something interesting playing while i play games or do other stuff. i bet other people can relate.

      I dont get it. It looks the same as the normal game.
      Same style of graphics. Same colors.

      Thought the purpose of all of this unreal engine stuff was to make it more lifelike

    I hope this turns into a playable full build one day. BBB delivered on so much of Molyneaux's ideas but had to cut just as many, and looking at what you've done it almost feels like full open world was being tried in earnest but just fell out of the time table. They still have us an unforgettable experience so i hope they were happy with what shipped, cause i know i was. Played every version of this game to death haha

    Oh my God this is amazing 🤩 I NEEDED to see fable open world. I NEED to be able to explore this world myself like you did in this video. I am an indie dev who wants to make fable like EPGs and I have been trying to imagine what fable would look like if it were a small open world. I wondered if this was possible to do, holly crap this must have taken you a lot of time. Not sure how far you are going to take this but subscribed and will be following the development.

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words! I have spent almost 400 hours on this project so far. At a minimum, I will be making "about" the first hour of the game. I have officially started content development, so that is exciting! I will be working on Fable until that "1st hour" is done, or until mid Summer, which ever comes later.
      I have my next remake planned already, which is an easier game by far, but really needs the remake treatment. Really fun game that is just really ugly to look at. I currently expect 100% fully remake that game though, but it is still a secret what that game is. :)

    • @andrewpullins8817
      @andrewpullins8817 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Level_reDesign where does the first hour get you to, Knothole Glade? I am trying to remember I think you teleport there correct?

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So for an everyday player, knothole Glade is probably 50% through the main game.
      The first hour (as I call it), is the intro in Oakvale, Guild training quest, wasp queen quest, and meeting maze in Bowerstone. I call that the MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Basically it is enough of the game to prove that this project would be possible to fully remake it if someone was to do that

      @andrewpullins8817 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I am making the map a fully connected world for one, but not 100% open world. However, I am fully remaking all of the systems from scratch. So property management and combat for example, as well as remaking the AI for enemies

    i did this with ocarina of time once, and for me the fun part came when I needed to invent and model new areas to fill in the negative spaces of the map, so it'd be proper square shaped. i brainstormed about the biomes and such missing from oot, - kind of treating majora's mask as a dlc and saying 'well, i need a beach, swamp, snowy area, maybe a spooky forest, maybe some zonai tropical jungle temple area, etc.' that's what evolved into my own side project #SPgame.

  • @AcIdBARRY
    @AcIdBARRY ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really like how you have connected the areas so far. i only can imagine how hard some part have been or will be with those maps. huge respect from me. also do you plan to fill some of the connection spaces with your own ideas? i bet you could fit a nice little market area or something in that connection between warehouses and bowerstone south. BTW i really hope you get the attention on here you deserve.

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words and excellent question. For the MVP, I will not fill in the empty space (except what I mentioned in Bowerstone because the whole point of the MVP is to prove that the full game is possible to port/remake in UE5. After I finish the MVP though, so am swapping out the meshes of the terrain with a single, fully custom made terrain object, where I will start filling in both the space between regions and empty space more as you mentioned

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Funny enough, we are actually in an age where with Unreal Engine 5 and their Megascans free assets, hyper realism is actually easier to do than anything stylized, at least for the most part. I've been on a bit of a stylized kick the last few years though because I think we have an overabundance of "realistic" games right now compared to anything with a more unique style!

      I had actually wanted to use the Lost Chapters assets because I like their style more. And I had prototyped being able to upscale the textures and give them a hand painted style. It looked nice, but it took too long to get those assets from Fable, into blender, UV the models, then into UE5.
      Also, I just wanted control over the regions to do whatever I wanted. The main advantage of this project is being able to do anything I want. I want as few blockers to that idea as possible.

    I am sure this would be out of scope for the project, but it sounds like you are willing to change things around from the original game. Do you think you will add quests that weren't in the game? I think it would be cool to have those random doors in the guild lead somewhere, maybe even have some side quest where someone has been stealing and hiding stuff up there.

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent question! Yes, I will be adding custom quests at some point. Once I get the systems finished (such as quest, economy, combat and other systems) then I will be moving on to content development. I have a custom boss that I'm writing up a design document for currently that will have his own quest. Also, I will be fixing the real estate system from Fable 1 where you could only buy more property if you were evil and killed the owners.
      I want to make simple quests to make people willing to sell to you. For instance, what if a certain shop will only sell to you of you bring him a special gem, or if you sell 10 fake rings to a competitor.
      The big advantage of using Unreal over a mod editor is I can add anything I would ever want to, and I am not restricted to a mod editor's capabilities

    • @ligitacy
      @ligitacy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Level_reDesign If you are willing to take suggestions, making the real estate system more like fable 2 or 3 would be a nice quality-of-life change where you can increase the rent outside of just upgrading or having to repair it as time goes on.

    • @Level_reDesign
      @Level_reDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am always welcome to suggestions and feedback (regardless of how harsh that feedback is). Thank you!
      Yes, the plan is to make the real estate system actually useful and not awful like in F1. F2 and F3 had much better property management. I will be taking some features from that. One example is the collection of funds. I don't want it to go straight into your pocket like in those games, but I also think it is stupid to go in front of every house you own to get the money. I'm thinking of having key buildings that you can buy after certain quests (so the servant quarters building in the guild is for sale after you graduate, or Maze's quarters is for sale after he dies). I think it would be cool to allow the user to pick up their funds at one single building rather than them all. This means the player still has to be intentional to use the system, which is what I want, but it takes away 95% of the annoyance.
      I have other plans to for the upgrade system that may be pretty neat, but those are still on the fence right this moment. Let me also mention that I am not taking every feature from those games for the system. I do not want repairs of properties personally for example

      That is a great question! The short answer is I just haven't yet, but I have a longer, interesting answer as well. It is a task on my backlog on Trello.
      When prototyping this remake back in May, I did upscale textures for a few objects. Specifically the teleporter, bench, and level gates. That was with TLC assets though. I have done a test now in the picnic area using anniversary assets, but the results were underwhelming compared to the TLC upscale. Funny enough, I used an upscale designed for art, which gave the low res textures a hand drawn art style. It looked really cool and fit Fable well. It didn't do as well on FA assets though. I will upscale them, but I also plan on possibly replacing several assets at some point as well.
