So interestingly, even when I ordered my Wabi and specified that I wanted it to come on the fixed side, it came freewheelin' :) Wasn't an issue, was a learning experience on how to center a wheel and set proper tension...

14:12 Quick tip for viewers, if you grab your bike by the headtube like Zach and the fork stays still, it means you bearings suck or are misadjusted. Or your headtube sucks which in that case it's throw a bike away day
I've been riding formula hubs for a while but just upgraded to some suzue hubs and I can totally tell the difference. The formula hubs were decent but the suzues are leagues above
@Bebo you may be right but the formula hubs don't look as good as the suzues. I got better looking wheels with better bearings. I'm not disappointed in my purchase

You need a "4 notch removal tool", anyone will do. The shallow option lets you put you hub nut back on the axle which allows for holding the tool in place as you remove the freewheel which prevents it from slipping and damaging a spoke.

Fun fact I have these hubs laced to h + sons archetype on my steamroller and they haven’t caused me any strife after nearly two years of daily used and came threaded for a cog on both sides
The wheels on these are really heavy, almost 3KG, getting a set of wabi superlights will get you at about 7 something KG. Bike is really cool, bought this a few months ago, now it has a miche pistard 2.0 crabkset with cinelli kinks, deda cortissimo stem and deda streetissimo short bars, my last upgrade will be wabi superlight wheels etc which I am waiting for. I think the worst thing about this bike is that clearance only supports 28" tyres.
My naked Raval frame plus fork weighs 2.8kg. The size is 55. It feels like you can drive through cars with it. The frame was delivered with a built-in steering head bearing, both of which were defective. After careful research, it turned out that the head tube and the fit for the bearing were 3/10mm oval. After a lot of effort and a lot of manual work, I repaired the fits. The frame is built with H Plus rims and industrial bearing BLB hubs. The first trip is still pending......... Zach here reviewed the 58 and he is also the same height I think, he mentions it in another video. But I guess he must like bigger frames, his wabi looks huge with no standover at all.
@@dsego84 For me the frame is already at its maximum length. I ride with a straight seat post and a 7 degree 80mm stem and a 420mm road bike handlebar. Everything else feels too long. The top tube length is 550mm corresponds to the current racing bikes for my size. I just don't want to lie on the bike. I would also recommend 170mm cranks. I used 165mm cranks and they are a bit too short.
Hi Zack, Great video, but I would just like to say, this bike and the other's you have mentioned are o0h so very much like my Specialized London Langster, Specialized did a small short run of the langster, much more pimped out, and one for some of the major cities, there was a London one, a Tokyo one, a New York one, and a few more I forget, but this bike your showing looks almost identical except that the top tube has a more backward angle on my langster. Might I add, ive had that bike for over 10 years its amazing I have upgraded all the stock components and it Is still one of the best bike ive had the pleasure of jumping on, Ive been riding since I was about 5 to 6 years old, I had an old school Raleigh burner bmx blue with yellow mags etc any way I digress, I would love you to feature my bike. if you fancy it I will send you pics. Wow this weights 50 g more than my complete 60 cm Reynolds 853 All City Macho King . I mean ok its a light build with carbon wheels and light parts but its a xl steel frame, geared , it has 42 mm tires and disc brakes. This bike is heavy for a brakeless track bike...
Why all the buzz on "this is too heavy for beginner bike"? I'd say beginners don't really feel weight difference once bike is lighter than MTB, they just say it's light bike. And if they go 15 miles per ride then weight is irrelevant. Heavier bike gives them feeling of good workout. Light bikes matter for long rides with climbs.
@Bebo I paid 400 euros for a steel frame bike (NOS) with soldered steel fork and can't say I miss aluminum as a frame material. Rear triangle on mine doesn't sound butted which is good for stiffness.
Santafixie guys are the best! Customer service is top, and I'm guessing the Us market for them is pretty new. Thus, the packaging is not an A, but bikes in the EU always arrive in perfect condition (I've bought two from them before). They are really smooth bikes, amazingly good looking and with incredible back stories to each model. Longevity on their bikes has also been an A on my side; they have really good materials.
hello, ive been interested in buying a fixie from them but i heard thats its not suited for going really fast because of the frame weight, have you ever had any issues with the choice of material?
If you want to actually remove the freewheel from the wheel to either change it or remove it altogether, do what juanpecan said. If you bought one of these cheap fixies and just want to use the fixed side, just flip the wheel around in the rear.
Just buy the proper 4-notch tool and it is a ridiculously simple procedure. Would be a 15 second video - again, if you have the right tool. Otherwise your LBS will likely help you out as long as you are a decent human being to them :). As with a lot of bike related matters: correct tool = dead easy; wrong tool=fucking up stuff you just bought. Some things are not worth trying to ‘hack’

£65 fine in the UK if you are caught riding without brakes although only a knobhead cop would fine you. Most don't bother.

Nothing wrong with aluminum fork - I'd trust it more in this price range than CF fork. When you go fast in a city there are lots of obstacles.

Get the IceToolz track bike tool, its a lockring tool and 1/8" chain whip - can remove fixed cogs and freewheels
