Khewra is the second most populated city of Jhelum District and the neighbor city of Pind Dadan Khan in Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan. The city is administratively subdivided into two union councils and is the location of the Khewra Salt Mine.
Khewra City is also known as "The Kingdom of Salt" because of its rock salt which is 98% pure and natural source of salt in Pakistan. Khewra Salt Mine is the second largest salt mine in the world.
Khewra City was established in 1876 with the support of the British Army who occupied on the Land of Khewra before 1947. Janjua Rajputs tribe was the founder of Khewra.
Khewra Salt Mine was discovered in 1872 by the local family of Janjua Rajputs.[citation needed] Since 2002, the main tunnel of the mine has been converted into a tourist attraction. Some websites claim 35000-40000 visitors come here every year.[citation needed] In 2003 a major restoration work was carried out at the mines to make it a tourist destination. Decorative light-work was done and some of the salt crystal found here is translucent, meaning it absorbs some light and reflects some.[citation needed] Depending upon the thickness (among other properties), the salt rock glows when lit in many different shades. The tourist attractions inside the mine include Assembly Hall, Pul-saraat, indoor brine ponds, Badshahi Mosque, Sheesh Mahal, Crystal Valley, Minar-E-Pakistan, Narrow Gauge Electric Railway, Pakistan Post Office, salt crystal formations and old mining machinery.
Wadi-E-Tober is a "Mini Switzerland of Saltians"[citation needed] located on the way of Choa Saidanshah City. The valley is almost entirely populated by the Khewra's community in between high mountains.
Metha Patan Valley is a destination for trekking and hill walking. Metha Patan has a natural waterfall which provides sufficient water to Khewra City. It attracts tourists because of its natural environment.[citation needed] Metha Patan Valley has a potential for mountaineering and rock climbing.

खेवरा रेल्वे स्टेशन का विडीयो देखा, बहोत अच्छा लगा । भगवान आपको ओर आपके परिवार को हरदम खुश रखे । सो साल से अधिक की जो भी संपत्ति हो कोई देश को हेरिटेज मे हो ईस तरह रखने का होता है । यह रेल्वे स्टेशन 1890 मे बना हुआ है ओर अभी भी बहोत अच्छा लग रहा है ईसलिए भारत - पाकिस्तान दो सरकार को मिलकर यह रेल्वे स्टेशन को अपने कब्जे मे लेकर ईनका रीपेरीग करके फिर भी गाडी भारत पाकिस्तान देश को एक-दूसरे देश मे आनेजाने के लिए शुरु कर देनी चाहिए जिसे हिन्दु मुस्लिम धर्म की एकता ओर भाईचारा बढेगा ।
पाकिस्तान के बिना भारत आज भी अधूरा है आपने खेरवाड़ा का पुराना हिंदुस्तान दिखाया देखकर बहुत दिल खुश हुआ और 1947 का तो बहुत दुख हो रहा है मोगा पंजाब इंडिया
ये उल्टे लोग हैं। सिर्फ उल्टा उर्दू लिखते है पर बोलते हमारी हिंदी हैं। इन्हे कहो कोई काम सीधा कर लें। सिर के बल चलते हैं और खड़े होते हैं जबकि सारी दुनिया पैर के बल। ढीठ ढीठ ही रहते हैं।

Most likely those red levers were for line interchange for shunting and not for signal chage as told by you. In united India, the ICI company (Imperial Chemical Industries) had it's main office in Calcutta. That company has closed down. Otherwise very interesting.

Very interesting. Surprisingly such old buildings & structures are still existing, they are in fact heritage sites and we are very lucky to have a view of these. They should be preserved at all costs. India and Pakistan, unfortunately a nation divided into two but these old buildings structures and places definitely creates a feeling of togetherness & respect among the people of Pakistan and India.
