I agree with Tuomas - this is the most emotional performance Floor has ever done in Nightwish. The sorrow in her voice are lying underneath through the whole song - but never overdoing it. This is so powerful done and interpreted by Floor - incredible song and performance. I can't avoid feeling guilt and sadness.
I am in awe of Tuomas’ genius and the whole of Nightwish’ musical interpretation and performance. The H:||:N album has been on my daily playlist for a while. I can’t seem to get enough of it. Your reactions are very insightful and a joy to watch. Thank you for giving so much of yourself on this channel ❤️
Cannot wait to see Floor perform this song at the Virtual concert....The emotion she will bring will have my wife and I in tears....Still think this is one of Floor's finest vocals....
From the frist time I heard the album this has been my absolute favorite track. Floor's vocals are breathtakingly beautiful and so are the lyrics (but that applies to the whole album). Tuomas said about Floor's vocals in this song that they are the most touching performance he'd ever heard of her. Nice little detail at 7.16: "HET ONTSTAAN DER SOORTEN", which is a Dutch translation of Charles Darwin's "The Origin of the Species".
Yes...This whole album is the nastiest wake up call, and rightfully so. we are so self-centered, ignorant and indifferent, to the point when all is gone and dead , then we start to think, and then it is too late....Great Reaction for this song .Thank You. Nightwish Shadow Unit
A week ago I stayed in a zoo for a week and watched all those beautiful animals…thinking how good their lives are compared to the most of their brothers and sisters in wildlife. Its so heartbreaking to read about and see all the suffering they go through. And what for? All about the freaking money! Pisses me off! Good to hear you didnt lost hope yet! Me neither.
I like these Nightwish videos for the reasons you said - the lyrics. The feeling comes with the music but even a personal, possibly wrong, understanding comes from reading the words of the poets.
Along with How's The Heart, this song hits the emotions big time. I love the way it is written as though it's from the future looking back at all that has lived and died, including humans. Stay safe 🤘✌
How about a shout out to the people who created these lyric video's. They could have been blank screens with words but the amount of research, artistry and creativity invested in video's that tell the story almost as well as the words is astounding. 👍👍👍👌👌👌
This song is all about the lyrics. It's written from the viewpoint of someone/something we evolve into in the far future. The song isn't all about the negative though. The lyrics also talk about how we became caring creatures and how we became smarter and curious about history and science.
I totally agree! Although e.g. "WE REMEMBER, as along came acorn" hints a bit, that THEY witnessed these events. The song is optimistic and IMO this song is not about human causing extinction, but the natural cycle of life and evolution where some species get extinct while new species are evolved. Even on the video, the part of threatened species comes before the "sapien came".
somewhere was story that human population go up next 30 years and then start going down and that going down not stopped ever. hopefully that´s truth. thanx to great reaction.
I always marvel how you seem to instinctively understand the most poetic lyrics. I am so glad that I have found someone who explains them to me. I suck at poetry.
Brother you absolutely nailed it . The Human race is actually a disgrace to this planet. We do not honour the wonder of the life around us - we denigrate it and I am humbled by bands and other other influential people that can help us change. NIGHTWISH is a great example of this. LOve their efforts
The nice part about your reactions is that you don't need anyone to explain you the lyrics :)) Yes, that's about us.. and it's very likely that human civilization will one day become the object of historical study for some other race. It's a pretty unique album, isn't it?
There is not much hassel over this song on the Internet. Maybe people are Political Correct or ashamed to talk about this song and subject. Only the Brave dare to react to this song. Thank you for your reaction and be this blunt about our Species.
As I was listening to the second cd today Nature and reading the comments, someone said Tuomas is a musician a scientist and a poet. Couldn't agree more. This is just an amazing example of his skills of creating something out of so simple to something so beautiful. Great reaction, Tuomas really had a message to us. Next song is the quite the opposite, you will be in for a ride...no...a dance.
In sci-fi you often see these extinct advanced alien civilizations. It's really weird to think that might be us one day. And tragic, we might very well be the first or only intelligent life in the entire universe, and this is what we do with it.
Yes. There are theories which say we are not the first but only the "current" "intelligent" species in the Galaxy. The Universe is a big place and this planet is tiny. The odds of two intelligent species arising within a millenia of each other are astronomical, literally. Sad to think we may repeat the mistakes of long-dead civilizations simply through a lack of co-operation and ignorance..... and that our successors may do exactly the same. Those less-advanced or equally-advanced aliens might ask us "who are you", more advanced species might ask "what do you want?". How do we answer either?
@@damienmaynard8892 The Fermi paradox. These are amazing things to think about, and while I'm a huge sci-fi nerd, I really think we should stay on this planet until we've evolved into Something better than this. We shouldn't go out there when we can't even handle taking care of one planet, let alone two. That means no contact as well, we're not ready. Let's say they are friendly If they would be more advanced, they would also have more advanced technology, which humans would want at any cost, even if we couldn't handle such a jump in technology. If they are less advanced, we would probably enslave and exploit them. On the other hand, I also believe meeting intelligent life, (if it's out there currently) could be the key to "save" humanity. It would be something so profound, so much bigger than we could imagine, it could unite us. Make our troubles seem insignificant. If we're open to it. But at this point is all just speculation and fantasy.
Nightwish donates for World Land Trust and supports them to save animals and plants - Nature. We all should do something like that instead of selfish greed of material and energy consumption which leads to extinct of forests and nature. Tuomas says that he can not live without being able to go into forests every now and then.
I have to commend you. I think you are very passionate, kind, gentle and wise person. I think you went through a lot of struggles in your life but it did not turn you into cynic. You have very high emotional intelligence level. I am proud of you and people like you that lives among us during our short period of time which we spend on our beautiful speck of dust. Thank you!
We are just that Highly... I Just keep saying it over and over again; we are with with way to many people. I have a theorie about the whole pandemic too...but i don't think that would be a very popular one on TH-cam ;)
We are capable of greatness, yet so many choose the path of least resistance. Our biggest failing is confusing "dominant species" with "superior species". We should learn from ants or bees. They work TOGETHER, for the COMMON GOOD.
Well. This is Human Nature. Just destroying everything good and still doing it. We all are guilty. We al want more than we need. This is a bad thing for nature. Thank you for this reaction.
Broadly the song encompasses the emergence of species and their eventual extinction. The song includes human extinction. Interestingly our extinction may not be that far off. We have been pouring endocrine disrupting chemicals into the environment at a prodigious rate. These chemicals disrupt male fertility and humans are the most affected as we use these chemicals in our daily lives (e.g. BPA.) Even if we were to cease production of all of these chemicals tomorrow, some of these chemicals will remain in the environment for thousands of years, in one case, millions. They persist in our bodies. At the rate sperm counts are crashing, we're probably a generation or two away from a major proportion of human males becoming infertile. There won't be a vaccine to fix this blunder. Here's a government website that lists some of the major EDCs: www.niehs.nih.gov/health/topics/agents/endocrine/index.cfm And a sperm count article: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/26/falling-sperm-counts-human-survival
Hey, can you check out the Imperial Age’s cover for Demons are a girls best friend official video, just released a couple of weeks ago, more of a vampire theme show, awesome 😎Imperial Age is a Russian symphonic metal band. Thanks 😊
As you like history, you probably know the book "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" by Yuval Noah Harari? If not, I can recommend it, it's a great read.
These lyrics are a bit hard to understand, but not too hard if you just take little time and want to do it. This life here on this ball we live in, is slowly coming more difficult to live on to us. But there is no worry, because the nature will take care of itself. If some population increases too much for nature to carry on with it, that population will sure collapse sooner or later. It´s only up to us, peoples , if we want to go on living longer here. There is NO way that people can destroy all life on the earth. Life on this planet will go on, with or without us. Only time will show how long human beings will go on living here. It is mush up from ourselves.
just imagine if tuomas had picked up anther book at the airport and hadnt discovered Dawkins, we wouldnt have the story of evolution in song. its quite sad that while so many people are worshipping an invisible god in the sky, the living, breathing thing beneath our feet is being hugely mistreated. we are temporary custodians of this world and i dont think we are doing a very good or active job at saving the only planet we know of that can support life

Well some may rock out with this song, but us NW fans are millions strong and know what the meaning is. So there's hope yet.

I noticed immediately that you did understood Nightwish's message in this song 🙂
It's the piano in this song that kills me. So beautiful.
BTW, the next song in this album will kick you in the teeth. :) In a good way.
One of my favourites, beautiful & tragic . Floor or next level here. Great reaction dude. Thank you 😃👏🏻🤘🏻

Both sad and beautiful, and a funeral march for mankind

More to go but you are so on top of this Nightwish masterpiece of an album. An absolute pleasure to be able to see your reactions to this all.

"... AS ALONG CAME ACORN" ... why do I see Scrat chasing after it :-)
How can't we be agree.... To save all these species, we MUST disappeared... Otherwise there will not be a lot left.
Spot on bro, spot on 😕
