    Congrats! welcome to the GT-1, your on the right track with it for sure, mine is under lock and key constantly, only a few can set them properly, I wish you all the best on your journey.

      @@vruno182 Take you time reading the manual and experimenting with the GT-1, it's fully capable of delivering the tone/s most are still yearning to play with whether live or in recordings, they are better understood when used direct to a power-amp and full range 15' x 2 way cab or two....enjoy!!!..the factory presets are only to give an example, experiment with a few till you get accustomed to how to change or exchange them internally etc.
      Explore the link to the Tone Central and some freely available tones there will get you into the ballpark with sounds like you mentioned, you can personalise them further to suit your particular instrument and playing style/technique too.

    I've had it for many years now and like all Boss products it's very reliable.. I get that some modulation effects are perhaps not as good as the more recent MD 200 and analog pedals, but the drives and reverbs sound very convincing.. The format also is just a perfect design for a board.. If there was a way to upgrade the firmware and/or chips and keep the chassis I would keep it forever..

    Im back to the GT1 after owning it once and then moved "up" to the GT1OOO core and used that for a few years. I teally think the gt1 sounds better and the boss katana 100 mk2 sounds better than the core to my ears , maybe its just me and i like cheap tones over more expensive. But I sold the core and dobt miss it . Got myself a new PRS with the money from the sale 😁

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I firmly believe that just because a piece of gear is cheap doesn’t mean it’s inferior to more expensive gear. It’s all in how one uses the gear…makes the most of it.

    • @lovecraftmusic8717
      @lovecraftmusic8717 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      User error: the gt core has so much stuff hidden going on that is very easy miss on some settings...much probably you had to setup properly the output setting for the right device (amp in, return, PA, line, headphones) and also the preamp-cab since you have to disable the cab sim if you go thru a real cab.

    Just bought one used for half the store price for the simplicity, small footprint, light weight, ease to pack and carry, and quality boss effects. I have a Boss Me-80, Zoom 9.2tt, Zoom G11, and three full pedalboards. All sound great yet all are a pain to transport or at risk getting trampled on a small/crowded stage. This solves those problems.

    Been using GT-1 as a back-up rig, open jam rig, all band practices rig and small chicken-wing joints rig since it came out. I even bring it with me to other open jams as I love using the wah and like you, have it set up as small pedal board mode. Each switch for a different effect. What's cool is you can add an external switch ie FS-7 and it gives you two more switches to use or assign. Has the same engine as Boss GT-100 so you know the sounds are awesome. However, as you mentioned, amp models suck. Try using a IR loader with it. Thru a combo with edge-of-breakup...add GT-1 (minus amp sims) for extra drive, delay, univibe or phaser and wah...Dude, I'M in heaven :)

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I've seen a couple of vids about adding the FS7 switch. I just might as the 3 switches are great BUT...could use at least one more.
      I'm getting more familiar with the BOSS Tone Studio desktop editor. It's actually pretty useful. I've dialled in a "home studio" rig with a Preamp model. It's sounding good to me. But it's definitely time consuming to play around with Preamp and cab models to find something ear pleasing.
      So you use this at the Rockpile jam?

    Nice! I have a Boss Pocket GT-1 and a Boss Katana Air, and I wanted to get a Boss GT-1 but I couldn't find one used, and there was a great deal on a Digitech RP360XP($85), and along with Boss products I also love Digitech products. I compared the Boss Pocket GT-1 with the Digitech RP360XP sounds and they were pretty close, the only thing I regret about the Digitech is that it doesn't run off batteries, but they did finally start using Boss/Roland style power supplies, so now I don't have to use a separate power supply, and I can stick the RP360XP on my pedal board and use the power supply I already have set up. I do wish the Digitech and the Boss would let you load your own IR's, not that the cabinets and amps they have already aren't any good, they are awesome, just I like the ones I have and I spent a lot of time and money getting them.

    The Boss GT-1 is phenomenal, and a ridiculously great value in any year/decade/millennium and one really cool plus it has over many other amp modellers is it can run on four AA batteries and even the stock sounds are pure dynamite but then you go into Tone Central and you've got hundreds and hundreds of extra free presets from Steve Lukather, Marty Friedman, Gus G, Jack Thammarat, Herman Li so many more and you have a ton of killer pre amps amps and effects to choose from and mix and match and make and save your own...i absolutely love mine and have had it for going on two years now and the honeymoon phase never wore off, its that damn great!

    The GT 1 is just a great unit , I use it for effects only in the loop of my JVM since I like the sound of the amp. I find all (or at least 90%)of the available effects very usable + once you get your head wrapped around all the functions - and there are plenty - it’s so easy to set up basically any sound you could probably want , sure newer modelers probably have better sounding Amp sims and IRs and what not but I really don’t care for all of that that stuff , I just want a solid unit that does what it’s supposed to do and doesn’t break the bank

Looking for an all in one unit now that I'm getting my Hot Rod DeVille 212 back up and going. Not interested in amp models or cab simulators, I just want to use the effects through the front of the amp on the clean channel. If I dive into it enough I might run through the fx loop in time.
