  • I just bought this used BOSS GT-1 guitar effects processor...and it blows me away! I've come up with a new "pedalboard" rig with it. Check out the video!

So many affordable or even older units can be tweaked to be very workable, or even good. 👍

Im back to the GT1 after owning it once and then moved "up" to the GT1OOO core and used that for a few years. I teally think the gt1 sounds better and the boss katana 100 mk2 sounds better than the core to my ears , maybe its just me and i like cheap tones over more expensive. But I sold the core and dobt miss it . Got myself a new PRS with the money from the sale 😁

I firmly believe that just because a piece of gear is cheap doesn’t mean it’s inferior to more expensive gear. It’s all in how one uses the gear…makes the most of it.

Congrats! welcome to the GT-1, your on the right track with it for sure, mine is under lock and key constantly, only a few can set them properly, I wish you all the best on your journey.

Just bought one used for half the store price for the simplicity, small footprint, light weight, ease to pack and carry, and quality boss effects. I have a Boss Me-80, Zoom 9.2tt, Zoom G11, and three full pedalboards. All sound great yet all are a pain to transport or at risk getting trampled on a small/crowded stage. This solves those problems.

Nice! I have a Boss Pocket GT-1 and a Boss Katana Air, and I wanted to get a Boss GT-1 but I couldn't find one used, and there was a great deal on a Digitech RP360XP($85), and along with Boss products I also love Digitech products. I compared the Boss Pocket GT-1 with the Digitech RP360XP sounds and they were pretty close, the only thing I regret about the Digitech is that it doesn't run off batteries, but they did finally start using Boss/Roland style power supplies, so now I don't have to use a separate power supply, and I can stick the RP360XP on my pedal board and use the power supply I already have set up. I do wish the Digitech and the Boss would let you load your own IR's, not that the cabinets and amps they have already aren't any good, they are awesome, just I like the ones I have and I spent a lot of time and money getting them.

Been using GT-1 as a back-up rig, open jam rig, all band practices rig and small chicken-wing joints rig since it came out. I even bring it with me to other open jams as I love using the wah and like you, have it set up as small pedal board mode. Each switch for a different effect. What's cool is you can add an external switch ie FS-7 and it gives you two more switches to use or assign. Has the same engine as Boss GT-100 so you know the sounds are awesome. However, as you mentioned, amp models suck. Try using a IR loader with it. Thru a combo with edge-of-breakup...add GT-1 (minus amp sims) for extra drive, delay, univibe or phaser and wah...Dude, I'M in heaven :)

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah, I've seen a couple of vids about adding the FS7 switch. I just might as the 3 switches are great BUT...could use at least one more.
I'm getting more familiar with the BOSS Tone Studio desktop editor. It's actually pretty useful. I've dialled in a "home studio" rig with a Preamp model. It's sounding good to me. But it's definitely time consuming to play around with Preamp and cab models to find something ear pleasing.
So you use this at the Rockpile jam?

@@JoshGordonGuitar I have a few times but mainly I bought a cheap Pod500. More robust for jammers to stomp on. I like my GT1 too much for it to be used on a regular basis by others lol 😆

I used a GT-1 + SY-300 as my main rig for years; I was able to blend guitar and synth, or play either independently. Worked great for a small, compact, versatile rig.
There are better and smaller choices today IMO

I've had it for many years now and like all Boss products it's very reliable.. I get that some modulation effects are perhaps not as good as the more recent MD 200 and analog pedals, but the drives and reverbs sound very convincing.. The format also is just a perfect design for a board.. If there was a way to upgrade the firmware and/or chips and keep the chassis I would keep it forever..

I’ve never had this problem. Try contacting BOSS customer service. Or perhaps see if there’s a TH-cam video on how to fix it. Don’t know what else to suggest.

Hi, I using Boss GT-1 from last 5 years almost, it's a great product, but recently I facing some issues with this product, when I am changing the tone the display is not working, showing "System error" (2,1). I don't know why it's happening! Can you tell me why it's happening?

Good question. Honestly, I don’t know. I only use 1 preset with this device…the preset in this video. It’s all I need.

Check out what else it's capable of too, these are only the factory settings being demoed in this...they can shake the house too if ever needed and slay or at minimum go toe to toe with ANY boutique amp rig regardless of tube or not included....learn to tame the dragon. it takes time but the rewards are quite frankly breathless with the right cab and weapon of choice attached.

They aren’t factory settings. I quickly dialed in some tones I liked and hit record on my phone . I’m definitely going to dive more into this unit as I agree that it’s capable of so much more. Why spend big $ on the higher end units when the is one works just fine, right? 🤘

@@JoshGordonGuitar Yes Bro, they actually really are in my view one of the best secrets being kept under wraps in the hunt for 'the tone' ...I hate doing this, but here's another tone master using a different rig that I've played along with at serious volume in a right environment to test the GT-1 alongside it, I can't pick it and neither can a few others in my circle....you are going to love the contraption!!!

Most likely. This video was impromptu…didn’t bother to check the tuning…just wanted to get the sounds and information out there.
