I did love Anthony’s but the structure was falling a part and beyond repair. Prices aren’t terrible at The Portside Pier and the surrounding environment they created there is pretty spectacular!
This might be THE Best New Outdoor Dining spot in San Diego -- or anywhere else for that matter -- and what a perfect time for this to OPEN up. Thanks for sharing what's HOT and what's NEW in downtown San Diego! You truly ARE "The Go-To-Guy" :)
@@DavidSpiewak I'm headed there this weekend for a lil Al Fresco Dining on the Harbor. so excited! Thanks for introducing me to this marvelous hot spot! :D :D :D
SD is beautiful few things that holds it back is lack of public transit bigger expansion of the airport taller buildings in downtown it still lacks that city vibe
Could not agree more! There are some plans in the making to have a central hub for the trolley - with a people mover to the airport and an extension to the Sports Arena. I wish we would build taller in downtown as well, there are some parcels in the Far East Village where a developer could go taller than 500ft. Hope they do, I say SD feels more like a big town than a city:)
@@VegasVisual So true, but I think San Diego can handle taller buildings and more dense communities. We are out of space to build out, so our only solution is really to build up:)
@@DavidSpiewak Thanks for your reply. Is Seaport Village currently completely closed down? Also could you do a video of the old police station next to the Hyatt please? And any news you can share about buffets around SD and used bookstores and the Outlet down by CV way - these could be talking points in an upcoming video. Have a great day!
@@roastbeefsandwich6769 I do not think Seaport Village is closed yet. And I think with everything going on that the project may be hold because of financing. And sure, police station where the Headquarters (mall) is now?
@@DavidSpiewak I hope you will do a video of the old Police HQ and show what goes on there. I have my doubts about SD building that tower, well maybe in 20+ years.
tweet: Nice and unique structure for a modern restaurant and leisure. San Diego is looking good nowadays -- maintaining that Spanishey look -- since the old days. Nice. God bless. feb2022.
That restaurant is a monstrosity! I can’t believe they took out Anthony’s restaurant and put this ugly eyesore on the waterfront Anthony’s Fish restaurant was there for over 50 years it was a classic this is the problem in San Diego it never hangs onto the past and preserves it it is a great loss for San Diego
I hear you, but Anthony's was sinking into the bay. They did not really do anything to preserve their restaurant. I bet you will enjoy Portside Pier if you visit when in downtown SD
Will be visiting SD for the first time next week!! Such a cool location! Just want to ask thru the public access, we could get into the doom without the necessity to dine in the restaurant, am I correct?
This dome design is awesome and long overdue! It's too bad SD won't allow food vendor trucks along the Embarcadero 😵 with choices of Jamaican, Thai, German, Polish, Mex etc., the trucks could be brightly painted and each would play music related to the food.🥩🦀🐌🥞they could even sell pancakes!
There is, you haven't drive around that's why, food trucks are at the corner of Broadway and Harbor Drive, opposite Carnitas Shack, in front of Intercontinental Hotel, they are open from 10-4 every Sunday
yes! Had a blast with you there
That we did
Beautiful views, great food and amazing venue it’s a must while visiting San Diego.
Spot on Ryan!
Great Job David. Thanks for sharing.
Awe, thanks Jenny! Hope you are feeling well and getting some rest 😘
i liked the gritty fish and chips joint that was there before ... didn't cost an arm and a leg for a meal

@@DavidSpiewak i'll check it out, if its too expensive I'll send you my dinner bill
😂😂😂. Just don’t get the lobster then:)
@John Jackson Completely agree, but again Anthony's was deteriorating and falling into the bay. Maybe thats why the prices were so good for us.

Did you talk about the Navy buildings near Broadway & The Embarcadero? It would be wonderful to see French style(5 stories tall) near the bay!
Good content. Try looking into the camera
