I'm so glad you enjoyed that, Deb! Some have said they have issues with silver fish due to cardboard boxes but I haven't and I've been doing this for some time now. I once inverted a shoe box that had printed on it that I could do that to reveal a pretty pattern. But, I am embarrassed that I hadn't thought of inverting other boxes or the Corrugated Paperboard Trays that I pick up from Aldi and Costco.
Important notes:
1) Do not reuse paperboard from perishables. Even if they look clean, they might not be. Egg cartons often have salmonella. Fruit boxes could have flies.
2) If you live in a multi-unit building that is in an area at risk for bed bugs, then do not use paperboard for storage.
Awesome! I never heard or thought of inverting boxes - makes me want to start hunting for boxes and using them this way.
I'm happy to hear you liked that, Debbie! I've been warned though that for people who live in humid areas that this is not a good idea as cardboard may attract pests who eat it. Haven't watched the whole video yet, but you can also get old wire shelving and magazine racks from stores when they are done. Display holders are amazingly well-built, and on the order of particle board sometimes. I use the discarded magazine racks that stores give me for offices and such and for topiary foundations, anything really. Love your videos!

I reuse the plastic containers that swiffer wet pads come in to store craft supplies. They stack really well.
When I got a computer I got rid of the filing cabinet, I have so many hanging files I don't know what to do with them. Good idea with your son's folders as drawer dividers.
🙈 How on earth did I never think of turning the boxes inside out?! I was making templates, and covering them all with stick-on paper!! Off to invert the remaining magazine file boxes!!

@The Frugal Minimalist, thank you! And yes, it's also worked for a couple of boxes with attached flap lids that I've had for years. So nice to have the plain brown instead of the burgundy with chicken breasts on it (I'm a vegetarian! Hahaha)

Ah hell. The fabric over the cardboard box is also brilliant. I have tons of scrap fabric that is perfect for. Way loss toxic than the spray paint I’ve been using.

Since the 'lockdown' it is amazing the amazon boxes I have collected, I am making small cabinets by the door for gloves, mittens, hats, shoes, bird feed, and items, other outdoor items, on and on I like decorating the boxes with wallpaper rolls I got from the thrift store for a dollar, or cheerful, light color material, sheets, and pillowcases, I also got from the thrift store. makes the kitchen so cheerful.

Cockroaches are attracted to cardboard. They nest in it. Have you ever had a problem with bugs? If so how did you know which box? I love the idea of inverting the boxes! Thank you.
Antonia Hynes it’s not the boxes they’re attracted to so much as the glue. When I worked in a warehouse, we always had issues with certain areas that had glued boxes, it would be every couple of months like clockwork. The pest control company they used started coming out before there was an issue eventually. Inverting the ones that fold seems like a clever way to avoid that, whether she knew or not at the time.
Hi Antonia, no I've never had issues with cockroaches or other bugs and I've been doing this for many years! I do live in a dryer climate though and I also choose boxes that are clean. Lots of the Costco ones make for good candidates because they go through stock so quickly and the good boxes just hold plastic or glass jars. Shoe boxes are good candidates - no food :)

I've been advised by some that the cardboard boxes many cause bug problems, but I've not had any issues and I've been doing this for years. We do live in a dryer climate, so that may have something to do with it.
