Nightwish - High Hopes LIVE ( pink floyd tribute) th-cam.com/video/IClqCyS4IRY/w-d-xo.html Nightwish - Slow Love Slow - Fort Lauderdale - 10.13.12 th-cam.com/video/Ol9VbuKKZ5U/w-d-xo.html
Nice reaction. Yes, they covered Pink Floyd High Hopes...during the first singer tenure, although Tarja doesn't sing it, Marco does. Also, the Floor version of Slow Love Slow is pretty true to the original studio arrangement.
Pink Floyds "High Hopes" Nightwish tribute, with Marco doing all the singing, is a favorite of mine. Tarja was doing a costume change as I understand it. You will not be disappointed.
Amaranth & Storytime are both Annette song by Nightwish. The softest jazziest Nightwish song ever.Nightwish has done covers of Pink Floyd "High Hopes", Megadeath's Symphony of Destruction", and a few others. Marko sings most of the covers. This give the females a little outfit change and vocal break.
Cool reaction. Such a beautiful song written by Tuomas for Nightwish's 2011 album, Imaginaerum. Annette is the original singer of this song. The album is a concept album that tells a great story of a dying man reminiscing about his childhood. The album went top 20 in 19 countries and is certified platinum
With Floor, being the current lead singer of Nightwish, she is entitled to perform Nightwish music I would imagine. I hope you cover some of the Hellfest 2022 Nightwish performances, the show is absolutely incredible to watch. Thanks for the reaction to this jazzy number. Loved it. Cheers. 🥂 🍻
They covered Crazy Train and Symphony of Destruction. It was done back in the early 2000's so video quality is iffy at times, but awesome to watch. Watching Emppu ham it up on the Crazy Train solo is mint.
Yes, this was an Anette era Nightwish song. Their only jazz like song. I think Anette has jazz in her background. Nightwish has done covers. Live show covers of Crazy Train 2002 and/or '03. Symphony of Destruction 2004, Pink Floyd's High Hopes 2005. Walking in the Air (Howard Blake) on Oceanborn(1998) album, and Phantom of the Opera on Century Child album (2002) and live 2005.
Yes, this is a Nightwish song. From the Annette era. From the Imaginarium album. And, you may be surprised: "I can only imagine what the Nightwish version of this sounds like." Surprise. It sounds EXACTLY the same!! I suggest you try the studio album version with Annette singing. She does it beautifully. (Of course no one can hold a candle to Floor though, IMHO.) I call this atmosphere "a smoke-filled, sultry, 1930's speakeasy lounge act from the Prohibition Era." I'm not a fan of this style, per se, but it is nice to listen to as a surprising display of Nightwish's unique diversity and talent!
Nice reaction! The album version (with Anette) is actually quite similar to this version. As for covers, if you haven't seen their cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes, it's worth a look. Marco sings it and his performance is legendary in Nightwish-land. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/IClqCyS4IRY/w-d-xo.html
Floor has sung almost all the songs that where Annette and tarja with nightwish she didn't have here own songs with nightwish till 2015 I can't remember that album but there was some great music on it high hopes a tribute to pink Floyd marco sings God bless
Floor can sing any Nightwish song that Tuomas has written. Tuomas knows that his 'sister ' is extremely loyal to him and the rest of her Brothers. Doing a solo side project doesn't bother him at all. Her priorities are Nightwish first, going solo second unlike Tarja aka crocodile tears. Hail the Goddess 😇😇😇😇
Yes, this is a NW song, sang originally by Anette Olson. The other song you might think is Amaranth, that was Anette Era song too. All those Imanigerium album songs were. This is nice song, very different from NW's normal setlists. They did perform this in Paris, France when Anette still was in band. I believe it was shortly shown in documentary Please learn the set list in 48hrs. Except Anette wasn't shown there because she wanted that she wasn't seen or heard in that documentary. Also Meadows of Heaven is an slow song by NW, and originally sang by Anette
I actually prefer Annette for this song, both the studio album version and the recording live at the Montreux Jazz Festival. But the Nightwish version really isn't that different. Please try their tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes, from the End of an Era concert!
Nice reaction. It is a jazzy Nightwish song written by Tuomas for Annette's voice. As usual it is a perfect fit for her voice but as you can see Floor can sing it beautifully as well. There is a lovely live version of it sung by Annette at the Montreaux Jazz Festival. Floor has also sung it live with Nightwish, I think when she joined the band in America on the Imaginarium tour. There is a video from Ft Lauderdale of them performing the song. This version is pretty much the same. Others have covered Nightwish covers. Floor did a cover of Heart's Alone with her first band After Forever and of course she recorded it at home for her YT channel during the pandemic along with covers of Let it Go and Into the Unknown from Frozen , Oblivion from the movie of the same name, and others.
When you get around to it. Do checkout the Nightwish movie featuring the band called The Imaginaerum. It's like a kids flick but it's not as you'd discover. Many thanks.
I'm a huge fan of Floor, she's the true successor to Tarja and she's now the best vocalist Nightwish ever had, but this song is written for Annette She has perfect voice for this song, and that's why this song will forever be hers. The Nightwish version with Anette from Montreaux Jazz Festival, is very similar, BUT I think it is the better version. Empuu guitar tone is epic and Anette captures the ambience of the song, 1.30 in the morning in a jazz club, that much better. Anette is more restrained at the end of the song, whereas I think Floor here tends to belt it just a little too much, not the correct style for this style of song. Dont get me wrong this is very good. Anette singing this th-cam.com/video/6k1jeJBocb8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ex5o1 Nightwish also do a cover of Over the Hills, which was a Gary Moore song, which for me just does not work. Tarja vocals are too high th-cam.com/video/f2iFXCUFKfg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TarjaTurunenHD
no she wouldn't. Anybody can cover any song regardless of who wrote it. The venue should be paying Performing Rights Organizations such as ASCAP/BMI/SESAC. Those companies would be paying the songwriters/publishers.
@@ralfmeyer9086 Like I said. I love to hear Annette sing this song as well as Floor and FYI, I'm referring to the live version with Floor, Marco and Empu sitting center stage together. I don't know the venue they are playing at but it's a great performance. I don't think Annette should be discredited as a singer. There is a reason she was chosen to join Nightwish. She just didn't have the voice for alot of Tarja's songs. That doesn't make her a bad singer.

Hi! Nice reaction. As for Nightwish covering someone's song - check Nightwish cover of High Hopes of Pink Floyd back in 2005

with this slowed down light jazz number holy smokin' absolutely brilliant
They did a tribute to Pink floyds High hopes.

I'm sure she asked Tuomas permission for which songs to sing.
Well she did several covers on her concerts.
Hellfest was the best since Wacken 2013!
Nightwish did a "Tribute " , not a cover, to Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
What he said^^^
They covered Crazy Train and Symphony of Destruction. It was done back in the early 2000's so video quality is iffy at times, but awesome to watch. Watching Emppu ham it up on the Crazy Train solo is mint.

There's a video of Floor signing Slow Love in the states some were ,could have been the 1st tour when she took over the singing .
Please take a look at Pink Pop 2022. Here Floor played a solo concert and only a few hours later one with Nightwish. Both really recommendable.
In the movie part Marco plays the upright base and Tuomas plays the grand piano.

Nightwish have covered Pink Floyd's High Hopes, also Phantom of the Opera and Over the Hills
This song was on the Imaginaerum album. These solo shows all sold out, some in minutes. She did some NW songs, but several of her own. Good stuff.
Coveres Nightwish :
1.Symphony of destruction from Megadeth. (Montreal 2004)
2.High hopes from Pinck floyd.
And
3.Crazy train from Ozzy Osborne
This song was written for aneete becauses she trained as a Jazz singer.
couple more covers:
Crimson Tide And Deep Blue Sea [Instrumental]
Phantom of the Opera (End of An Era)
High Hopes by pink floyd they coverd and it is Amazing

I love to hear Floor sing this song but, I also love to hear Annette sing this song as well. The Nightwish version is much better in my opinion.
Much better?
