    If you're finding white rice to be a bit bland, try using basmati rice... even better, wholegrain basmati, it's never bland... so much more flavour than other types of rice. If I want added flavour to rice, I find the onion version of Kallo stock cubes are brilliant for adding a subtle but yummy flavour to rice.

    I cooked this one and the rice was so tasty as I used bone in chicken thighs. The bone flavoured the rice beautifully.

    I love that you were honest when you said it was a wee bit bland so add more flavouring :-)

    Ohhh Cheryl!! How yummy that looks!! Can't wait to give it a try!! Mouth watering. I'm alone and hardly ever cook anymore but am dying for some home cooking and this fits the bill. Hope it freezes well because I intend to make the whole recipe and freeze the leftovers. Have a terrific day!! Thanks for the recipe!! Hugs!!

    That looks so tasty 😋
    I like a dish that not super seasoned, sometimes I think people forget what individual food ingredients are supposed to taste like! Beef with a ton of seasoning taste the same as a slice of bread with a ton of the same seasoning! Occasionally its nice to have a simple dish where you can taste each ingredient. ❤️ 👍

      @@danielvallelunga1596 I read in a medical journal that they were testing if you could "reset" your taste buds so you were actually fully tasting meat and veggies the way nature intended. They were experimenting by eating nothing but plain boiled potatoes (white potatoes like Maris pipers) without even salt and pepper for 4 weeks then reintroducing plain food without salt. But I lost the journal and so far haven't been able to local a copy of the study on the internet.
      It would be interesting to know how that study turned out!

    • @gidget8717
      @gidget8717 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheRenaissanceman65 my husband hates rosemary. He says, "You might as well lick a pinetree, they would probably taste the same!" LOL

    • @gidget8717
      @gidget8717 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danielvallelunga1596 I was thinking it might be better explained as resetting your brain rather than your taste buds, wouldn't you think so? I wish I could find out of they came to any conclusions. It might be worth eating nothing but plain boiled potatoes for 4 weeks! 😁

    This was one of those times when I watched and thought, "That sure sounds good!" I've got that, that too, and the other, and I can substitute this spice for that spice!!! So now I have the crock pot going and supper is on the simmer. Thanks again, since this is not the first time this has happened. Won't be the last either.

    Looks nice .. I'd add in garlic and onion powder, paprika , all purpose seasoning , black pepper and salt and you could do some cajun spices in as well or Harissa and sumac . Or go kinda Chinese with oyster sauce and soy with garlic and ginger with fresh chilli.. so many variations. Thanks Cheryl.. its coming into slow cooker season again here in Scotland

    This reminds me of the first dish I ever made as a 20 year old newlywed, 30 years ago. It was a simple dish called No-Peek Chicken. Easy breezy, and you can never go wrong with chicken and rice dishes. It's a universal favorite. By the way, you are quite a beauty! All that and you can cook too? Mr. What's For Tea is a lucky fella! 🤩

    I am going to make this but for the rice I am going to use a spiced rice recipe to give it some spicy taste.
    Spiced rice. 3 grated or finely chopped cloves of garlic. 1 teaspoon ground cumin. 12 cloves. 12 cardamom pods crushed. Three stickes of cinnamon. 3 bay leaves. Chill flakes to taste. Nandos do a nice recipe for spiced rice.

    🙋‍♀️I love my crock pot! Just subbed from over here in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States of America. I really love this recipe, rice can be tricky, and you made it look so easy. I will be trying this recipe this week, what do you think of broccoli instead of the green beans? One other thing I have found is chopped onions in the freezer section at my market. The freezer section also has peas and carrots together, would you put in 2 cups to make the total for both? I also love to grate my carrots for soup would that work in this recipe? Thanks for your good ideas, I'm 65 years old and just learning how to cook. Much love and peace. 🙋‍♀️🪔🌠🌞⚓🖖🐞🧘‍♀️☯️😷

    Despite living in an area which is dominated by Asian people and so by the shops and outlets catering to their palette, I dislike curry intensely. Having said that I intend to try today’s recipe but with a change to the sauce. I was thinking of a wild mushroom and peppercorn sauce or a cream cheese sauce, maybe with lemon.

    Just here from your Weekly thing to look at this.
    Yup could have eaten this of the Corned Beef thingy. The Rice on its own looked lovely. Sort of Slow Cooked Fried Rice. I saw you use an "Easy Cook" Rice. I do not normally use that but I happen to have some bought by accident (happy accident, serendipity). Glad I did not throw it out.
    You used Frozen Peas, maybe the Green Beans could be Frozen also?
    Thanks very much.

    Our chicken/ poultry seasoning here in the states, is made up of parsley,rosemary,thyme sage,marjoram,black pepper and nutmeg, what’s in the chicken seasoning your using?

    • @missmayflower
      @missmayflower 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks like the Montreal Chicken Seasoning we have here in Canada. It’s more for sprinkling on chicken pieces before you grill or bake them. Lots of paprika, salt, onion, garlic, pepper, mustard seeds, coriander and mystery herbs. More of a bbq flavour. You should be able to get it in Target or Walmart in the states. The poultry seasoning you mention is more for stuffing.
